Infiniti G35 owners have reported 19 problems related to brake light on (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Driving on highway 50 my way to work the following dash lights came on vdc off, abs, slip. After pulling over to examine what was wrong I discovered I had no brake lights & the 10 amp brake fuse had blown. I then got back in my car to drive to a parts store & the shift lock wouldn't disengage. So I manually engaged the shift lock & drove to the parts store & replaced the fuse but the dash lights were still on so I began to drive home & the brakes became tighter & wouldnt release & they eventually were completely locked with all 4 so hot they were smoking so I parked it. The next day I went to drive to a mechanic & the brakes had released but the more I drove they started engaging on their own without releasing & became hot again so I parked it again. Basically after it sets the brakes release but after driving for a short distance 2-5 miles they they begin to engage & not release causing them to overheat. I've searched the internet for solutions & it appears numerous people have had the same problem & some have had a short in a brake wire harness & others have replaced speed sensors or abs pumps but they can't tell which caused thw problem since it's intermittent. I believe this is a safety issue because I was in motion on a highway with a tractor trailor behind me & my brakes began engaging on their own & I was terrified of being rear ended & possibly killed. Now I'm afraid to drive my vehicle because I dont know if it will happen again or how to fix it.

The high , center mounted, third brake light either fails to activate when the brake pedal is depressed, or it lights very dimly.

I drove to baltimore from DC and back with no issues, then turned to go into the alleyway behind my home. All of a sudden, the steering wheel locked and would not turn and all the lights on the dashboard came on, including the brake light. My brake pad froze midway down, stopping the car, but not budging, even when I tapped the gas pedal. I put on and off the parking brake, to no avail. I tried to move the steering wheel around, but could not. Then I tried to turn off the car and restart it, but it took me three tries. When I restarted the car, the brake pad started functioning normally again and the car has been normal ever since. Additionally, nothing like this has ever happened before.

3rd brake light works intermittently.
I noticed my 3rd brake light was no longer working. I have noticed other Infiniti G35 coupes with non- functioning 3rd brake lights. I've been told this is a common problem that I believe should be addressed by a re-call. It is an expensive part and labor charge to repair. Please induce Infiniti to replace these lights at no charge to the customer. Thank you.
The third led brake light is not working properly. Got pulled over on August 28th because the officer said my third brake light wasn't working. I got the light tested and the car shop said they would test the light to see if it was the light itself or there is a short due to wiring. The car shop said the light worked so there must be a wiring malfunction some where in the car that makes the light work properly.
The third brake light in spoiler-less G35 sedans is a well known issue to fault after just a few years. Over 50 owners of the vehicle have reported the same problem. It will either stop working entirely or only work at times with no known cause.
Center mount/third brake light is completely out despite the attempts made to fix the led's. Also had somehow caused my regular brake lights to go completely out. That seems to be repaired (faulty relay switch?), but since this was a safety issue I had asked Infiniti to "goodwill" the repair cost ($221), but it was denied.

My third brake light went out so I went to the dealer to purchase a replacement led lamp. The price of the lamp was $185. 00! the parts department said they are very difficult to replace as you have to remove both the trunk lining and rear seat to replace the led lamp. The labor to replace the lamp is $200. 00! I have since noticed that about one half of the Infiniti G35 and g37 models I see on the road have their high mount third brake light inoperative. This is with out a doubt due to the extremely high cost and difficulty to replace what should be a simple replacement lamp.
Third-brake light intermittently works and goes out. Does not work 80% of the time.
The third brake light on many G35 vehicles from 2003 - 2007 does not work - there is an issue with the circuitry on the third brake light that sits behind the window, up above the trunk. This is a clear safety issue and should be addressed by the manufacturer.
The contact owns a 2005 Infiniti G35 sedan. The contact stated that the third mount brake light would no longer illuminate when the brakes were engaged. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,500.
I drive a 2005 Infiniti G35 sedan. My 3rd brake light has now been off and on for about 3 weeks now. I have read that many other people who drive the same car as me are having the same problem and have addresses the issue to you. I am very shocked that something has not been done yet. I drive in rush hour traffic most of the day and fear that since my brake light does not come on I will get hit. It seems that this is a technical issue. It is very frustrating to know I could be in a fatal accident just because of a light not working. I have notified Nissan and Infiniti but have not heard back.
The 3rd brake light on my 2003 Infiniti G35 does not illuminate when pressing down the brake pedal. After reading many post this is a ongoing problem with these cars forcing safety issues as well as inspection problems. Measures needs to be enforced for a solution.
Rear window brake light malfunction, this is a known and repeatable issue with many G35 sedans years 2003-2006. The rear window brake light stops working intermittently, or works in varying degrees of brightness, with no consistency, rhyme or reason. Unable to get the light to remain on consistently, and given the feedback in online forums, etc - this is an apparent problem with the light installation, etc.
Recently I have been noticing my 3rd brake light works when it wants to. If I had to say it probably works 4 out of 10 times you hit the brake pedal. This is an extremely very important issue. State of pennsylvania it is mandatory to have 3 brake lights. Right now, I have 2 working ones and 1 that is undecided when it wants to work. I do not have the VIN handy right now, as I am at work.
2004 Infiniti G35 coupe 3rd brake light not working. Stopped working at approx. 60k miles.
I own an Infiniti G35, and I just had a general request I wanted to make. The brakes on G35's wear out after about 15000 miles, and it happens to almost all G35s yet Infiniti does not have a recall on the brakes, not the brake lights, or give a free service for the brakes, which cost about 900 bucks. I know that this is not an emergency or what not, but I just wanted you to take this into your consideration and review the brakes on Infiniti G35s. Since it is the office of defects investigation, I am sure you'll review the brakes on G35s. Thank you. Sincerely, ryuk byun.
I own a 2003 Infiniti G35. The car is 7 months old with less than 10,000 miles on it. I was told by my dealership that I had no front brakes. I brought the car in because 3 lights were lighting up on my dash for a couple of days: the brake light, the slip light, and the vdc off light. I was shocked to learn that I didn't have any front brakes. To me, this is definitely a safety issue.
