Infiniti G35 owners have reported 9 problems related to engine (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The car is a 2003 Infiniti G35. My wife was crossing an intersection when the car just stopped. Traffic coming the other way had to also stop to avoid an accident. She was able to start the car and get it going again, only for it to stopp running one more time before getting home. I pulled the diagnostic codes from the car. It failed with a p0345 cranksahft position sensor a circuit bank 2. This sensor had a voluntary replacement from Infiniti on the same year model car, except our VIN number falls just outside of the range. I truly believe that should be expanded, as this can cause a fatal accident should it fail at the wrong time. The car dies, which means you lose the power stering and brakes. I will replace the sensors as the dealer I spoke with would not cover it under the volumtary replacement due to the VIN not being covered. There are 4 of these sensors on this car so there is a potential for failure. Please look into getting the recall for this part expanded to cover all cars. There is too much at stake to not do that.

The contact owns a 2008 Infiniti G35 sedan. The contact stated that when he depresses the accelerator pedal, there is a brief hesitation and then the vehicle accelerates rapidly. He took the vehicle to the dealer from where it was purchased and had them inspect it; however, they were unable to identify the cause of the failure. The failure occurs intermittently only after the vehicle comes to a complete stop and proceeds to move forward. The failure was noticed ever since the vehicle was purchased and the dealer has been unable to duplicate or remedy the failure. The failure mileage was 200 and current mileage was 5,000. Engine constantly using excessive amounts of oil.
I have a 2007 Infiniti G35x sometimes when I am driving the car about 60 km/h and accelerate the car alarm comes up "engine service soon" and "slip" and "vdc" and it starts going crazy doesn't shift to the next gear and when I hit the brake it stops differently. It is hard to explain but scary it has less than 5000 km in. Also there is some noise too. The dealer ship try to find it now but I don't know about these guys. With the first thing with all the alarms. If I turn the engine off leave it for a minute and turn it back it resets the alarm but not the service engine one. They saying there is nothing wrong with it. I wish I can change this car to another brand. This is scary to drive. If you have any questions please send me an email. Also can you please give me info about canadian gov. Website I can file my report too. Thanks zoltan.
Car has 9,300 miles on it and the engine uses approx. 2. 5 quarts of oil every 2000 miles. I belong to a G35 forum and there are many others with the same car having the same problem. Many are having engines replaced. Mine goes to service in the near future. There is an obvious defect that should be addressed.
During normal city driving conditions the vehicle has a sudden lost of power dropping down to a speed of 35-40 mph, no acceleration is possible above 35-40 mph, indicator lights come on dash board "slip, vdc off and service engine soon". On two different occasions vehicles directly behind me have had to come to sudden stops to avoid a rear end collision, since I am unable to accelerate and they are traveling at a consistent rate of speed. This failure has happen again today, bring the total of occurrences to three(3). The dealership has replaces the accelerator pedal 7/20/05 and the throttle chamber 9/7/05. None of these corrections have improved the problem.
