Infiniti G35 owners have reported 18 problems related to service engine light on (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving, my Infiniti g-35 looses engine power and the engine shuts off while driving without notice along with sudden lack of power steering. My service engine light stayed on when I started the vehicle back a short time later. Several cars had to swerve from hitting me. I was able to make it to get a diagnostics and it's saying crankshaft position sensor/ camshaft position sensor. The engine shutting off while driving start happening other times same way. This happened on the expressway and main roads. This could have caused a major accident. My airbag light is also flashing red and highlighted passenger airbag light off in yellow near clock. Engine shutting off due to crankshaft sensor with airbag malfunction. Engine also shuts off at stop lights.

The car idles when taking off even after warming it up. . . While cars are passing me by. It acts like it wants to cut off while in traffic. It was raining on the passenger side. I can't even filled the car up with a full tank of gas. Only had the car for 3 weeks and the service engine soon light come on. Took it back multiple times and still not fixed.

I have replaced the cam position sensor and the crank sensor and my car continues to stall causing the service engine soon light to appear with a loss of power and intermittent stalling. Infiniti has a recall for this problem (service bulletin: NHTSA: 03v455000 cam shaft sensor defective) but they say my car is not included. This is a safety issue because the car looses power and stalls intermittently. The problem occurs when the vehicle is in motion usually at highway speed with the cruise control engaged.

While driving on highway at a speed of 65 miles when my car shut off; I'm blessed that I was driving on a two lane highway and maneuver over quickly without another car rear ending me. After sitting for 10 minutes then the power kicked back in. What could be the issue. . . . . . Now the service engine soon light is on so is the slip and vdc light as well. I have been experiencing this problem for at a month while driving car cutting off. But this is the first time car completely cutting off and lights coming on (service engine, vdc, and slip) the check engine light is still on. My airbag light has been blinking since I took ownership of vehicle in November 2015. The current vehicle miles is 152,000.

2004 Infiniti G35 lost power when driving. Service engine soon light as well as vdc lights are on. It is hesitant to start after that. Has happened at least one time each during the last three times the car was driven. Major safety issue as the it has happened when turning at a major intersection. Luckily we were able to coast the car to the side of the road. Same issue exist on the 2003 G35 in which there was a recall for, but none exists for the 2004 models. Contacted infinit in which I was told there was no active campaigns for my model, except for the side airbags. Was told that this would be treated as a repair (subject to very high dealer costs) and not a recall. I have found many other post on the internet with the same issue for the same model and the same complaint that it is not addressed by Infiniti. How has Infiniti verified that this does not exist in other model, especially being so close the 2003 and 2004?!? this is a major safety issue.
The contact owns a 2005 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that while traveling 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and the steering became difficult to maneuver. The contact mentioned that the service engine light, slit, and nbc off indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was merged to the side of the road and after restarting it the vehicle resumed normal operation. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the cam shaft and crank shaft sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 85,000.

My vehicle stalled while driving creating a very hazardous situation. Engine restarted with hesitation and vdc, slip, and service engine light came on and remained on. I was told by dealer that it was due to a faulty camshaft position sensor and parts and labor for a new one would cost an estimated $500. There is currently a recall on 2003 models for the same problem, recall #03v455000. As I have seen other complaints for this issue on other models, it should be investigated and an updated recall for other model years needs to be enforced. This is a potentially dangerous malfunction. This is unacceptable and could result in several lawsuits.
I own a 2006 Infiniti G35 coupe that has less than 60k miles and burns two quarts of oil every 1000 miles. I originally became aware of the problem back in 2008. I took my vehicle to the dealership to begin excessive engine oil consumption testing. At that time I only trove about 200 miles a month and the dealer said I needed to be driving 2500 miles to preform the test. I explained that there wasn't a way to put the mileage on my car without unnecessarily driving around town. My car requires premium gas and it's absolutely ridiculous for someone to think I would spend thousands in gas to show my car has a oil burning issue. Last month month after less than a thousand miles since my last oil change, my service engine light came on. I took to the dealer immediately and they said my car definitely has a oil consumption problem. They also said they would not fix it because my warranty is expired by time not mileage. The manufacturer as well as the dealer are fully aware that there is TSB issued on my vehicle. I have opened a case with Infiniti consumer affairs as well as the bbb. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks you, todd kemp.

The vdc and service engine warning lights were illuminated and causing the vehicle to fail to start or stall continuously. My car should be included on the cam shaft sensor recall 03v455000 the car stalls while driving with the vdc and service engine soon lights are on. Car keeps on shutting down. Replaced cam shaft sensor and the problem happened again today 12/09/13. Looks like a very common problem.
The contact owns a 2004 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled with the illumination of the vdc, slip and service engine soon lights. I own a 2005 Infiniti G35 sedan with just under 50,000 miles on it. I was on the off-ramp of a freeway when my car completely shut down. Everything was locked - steering wheel and brakes. The service engine soon light came on as well as the slip light under the gear indicator. I was able to coast down the off-ramp and stopped on the street. I tried to restart my car, and after about the 5th attempt, my car started. Everything seemed normal (no warning lights on the dash), and I drove 1/2 mile to my appointment. I decided to take my car to the nearest Infiniti dealership after my appointment. On my way to the dealership, my car shut down again. I was able to restart my car after the 4th or 5th attempt. This time, the warning lights on the dash (service engine soon and slip) remained on. I was about 1/2 mile from the dealership, and I was able to make it to the dealership safely without the car shutting down for the 3rd time. The dealership checked the car and told me that I need to replace the crank and cam position sensors as well as the sensor assembly magnet. The repair cost was just under $700 - not covered under warranty.
This is regarding my Infiniti G35 sedan. While driving my vehicle on the highway, the engine suddenly stopped and all the dashboard lights came on. I pulled the car over to the shoulder and started the car again. At this point, the service engine soon light came on. I was able to drive to an Infiniti dealer 5 miles away, with the engine stopping during operation several times. Fortunately there was no crash and nobody was injured or other damage. At the dealer, they diagnosed the problem as a fault crank position sensor, which was a known issue on my car. However, my VIN was not part of the previous recall campaign (01v35700) for this issue. The dealer serviced my vehicle by replacing the crank position sensor assembly at a cost of $334. 65. I have contacted Infiniti and they were unwilling to reimburse my service under the earlier recall campaign. I am writing to notify NHTSA of this incident so it is in your database. I am also requesting that you review the incidents of failed crank position sensors in Infiniti cars and consider reinitiating a recall campaign.
The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti G35. The contact stated the service engine warning light would illuminate on the dashboard and the engine would exhibit decreased power. The failure would occur intermittently over a two year period. The contact inquired with the manufacturer about NHTSA recall campaign id number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling) and was informed his VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 95,000 and the current mileage was 125,000.
While driving my 2004 Infiniti G35 sedan with 6 speed manaul on the highway- I suddenly got a vdc slip slight, service engine soon light. The car began to sputter intermittingly loosing power. I was able to make it to the side of the road and ultimately into a parking lot - although I was nearly rear ended when the car stumbled. This happened one before in sept. 2007 with my wife - in which the dealer replaced the cam sensor.
The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that the vehicle is experiencing the same failure as noted in NHTSA campaign # 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle's engine shuts off intermittently and without warning. The service engine light illuminates and the vehicle also has difficulty starting. The dealer stated that the crankshaft position sensor needs to be replaced. The engine size was unknown. The current mileage is 51,000 and failure mileage was 45,000.
