37 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 08/09/2005

Front brakes and rotors needed replacement at 24,744 miles and again at 44,875. When I called the dealer the first time replacement was needed, they quoted me almost $600 to do the job. They did not inform me that in late 2003 Nissan acknowledged a brake defect and extended the warranty to cover replacement of brakes and rotors under 36,00 miles. I found out recently that I should not have had to pay for the first replacement. The dealer refuses to reimburse my expenses since I had the work done at my local garege for a lower price than they quoted me.

40 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 09/01/2004

This car has a bad case of automatic acceleration. Since it has been doing this for the past 9 years, I've gotten familiar with the symptons. There are a number of ways the car will simply accelerate on its own and all of them occur when braking: 1) while sitting at a complete stop with the transmission in drive and foot on the brake, the engine will suddenly just rev up to 4 or 5 thousand rpm. 2) same as above but acceleration can be caused by pressing hard on the brake pedal. 3) exiting freeway and braking, the engine will remain at the same rpm and/or speed up. 4) (this is by far the most dangerous) when braking extra hard, the transmission will shift down and the engine goes to full throttle. This one has nearly gotten me a couple of times. The dealer has replaced the throttle, throttle body, etc. Nothing has resolved the problem. It is intermittent and incidents may be months apart. Until recently, the dealer has denied that any other owners have experienced this problem in the USA. Owners have complaining about it since 2003 on various internet sites while the manufacturer denies there is a problem and has allowed it to persist for 10 years. Only recently has the dealer admitted other problems and stated they were afraid of what happened to Toyota. Briefly looking at entries on the NHTSA site, there have been about half a dozen complaints a year. None reported a fatality but then the dead are unlikely to file a complaint. If a tenth of a percent of the owners experiencing this problem filed complaints, that would be 6,000 vehicles per year are being produced with this fatal flaw. In summary, what do you do with a potentially lethal vehicle? sell it to some unsuspecting person and endanger their life or keep it and wonder when it will kill me? if the latter happens, we'll all know why.

41 Service Brakes problem of the 2003 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 10/16/2003

Brakes had to be changed after one year of very sporadic use. After the service was performed a knocking sound during braking appears on low speed traffic driving. It could not be fixed by the dealer.

42 Service Brakes problem of the 2003 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 08/26/2003

Constant brake noise.

43 Service Brakes problem of the 2003 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 05/05/2003

Needed new brakes at 14,000 miles. Seems like the brakes should last much longer than this. Shouldn't this be covered by the warranty? I've seen enough complaints about this problem that I feel Infiniti should make a change and reimburse those of us who have already had to pay for this repair.

44 Service Brakes problem of the 2003 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 02/01/2003

Constant brake noise - how am I supposed to know when my brakes need replacing if they are always squeaking - that's usually a sign, but in this case the only sign will be when I crash into something or someone because they stop working.

45 Service Brakes problem of the 2003 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 01/01/1901

2003 G35 and q45 Infiniti with brake problems. The consumer stated the problem with the q45 was extreme vibrations when applying the brake; particularly at speeds over 50 mph. On down-hill braking, the shudder vibration was passed on to the steering wheel.

46 Service Brakes problem of the 2003 Infiniti G35

While driving 60 mph, the vehicle turned 360 degrees, crossed three lanes of traffic and collided into the guard rail. Driver has no input from slip light and vdc light. Engine also stalled. Dealer informed consumer that vdc failed but changed its decision saying that brakes aren't used by the vdc. However, consumer thinks that brakes are applied by the vdc, as stated in the owner's manual.
