1 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2003 Infiniti I35

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

My vehicles crank/cam sensor I believe has gone bad. I was driving on a city street, the car was driving fine and it was like the engine shut off but it was not I could drive 1 mph, and car would not rev up. I saw there were recalls on this for Infinitis made in 2202-2003 but for some reason my 2003 Infiniti is not included in this! car no longer will move.

2 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2003 Infiniti I35

Failure Date: 07/20/2016

Car shuts down. Over three years ago it died while driving. I took it to the infinity dealership. They told me it was cam sensor. Had it & crank sensor replaced. Problem persisted. Took back to infinity & was told it was the cylynoid. Had thatbreplace. Problem persisted. The Infiniti dealer said the timing chain need replaced but my car was not worth spending that amount of repair. My car is well kept with it just now tirning over 100,000 miles. I got a second opinion from a certified custom Nissan/Infiniti shop. He laughed at the timing chain suggestion. They have built & repaired thousands of my vehicle & others witj timing chains . . . Chains do not have issues on cars with very little milage & grandma driving style!. They changed the sensors for me again using original Infiniti parts. My car ran fine for 2 years. Now I face the same problem once more. Unfortunately beyond recall limit that I am certain the dealership knew about 3 years ago which would have been within recall correction time limits! my car looses all power & all dash lights come on (engine, tcs, slip, brake, etc). Soetimes it will instantly come back alive. Most times it is just dead. Scenarios vary: 60 mph on freeway, sitting at red light, upon acceleration, going 5 mph, after 5 minutes of drive time, after days of drive time, . . . There is no pattern or peticular action that causes it. It is very scary & dangerous to me & all around me. Now I have a great car in like new condition with only 100,000 miles, paid for, that I have to replace with no money or continue to endanger myself & others. I am furious. !!!! is there nothing else I can do? is there nothing that Infiniti can do?.

3 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2004 Infiniti I35

Failure Date: 11/19/2014

While driving on 3 separate occasions my vehicle just stopped. First incident while drive on highway, my vehicle shut off, I was unable to steer or control the vehicle. While stopped, I restarted the vehicle. The second occasion , I was traveling 30 mph and the vehicle just stopped. I restarted it. On the most recent occasion, January 13, 2015, I was at a red light, the car stopped running. When I restarted the car I experienced an electric shock through my car key. I am having a mechanic check out what is happening. This is extremely dangerous and frightening.

4 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2003 Infiniti I35

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

I'll start the car, then start to drive; maybe after 15-20 minutes, the car will stutter and act like its about to cut off, like a jerking motion. From there the tcs, abs, slip, and engine light comes on; it'll resume to drive, after those lights come on, I'll be driving on the highway and the car just shuts off; I then have to put it in neutral (while at high speeds) then attempt to start the car again. After about two times while in neutral it'll start again. This is a very, very, dangerous situation; I have two small children that go everywhere with me! I contacted infinite consumer affairs and gave them the recall number and the campaign number and they stated that my car didn't fall into the range of VIN numbers up for recall, when everyone else is complaining about the same exact thing; the only thing that the lady said is that my car is up for recall is the passenger airbag, help please!.

5 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2004 Infiniti I35

Failure Date: 12/30/2008

The contact owns a 2004 Infiniti I35. The vehicle shut off without warning while driving 50 mph. The throttle position, crank position sensor, and timing control sensor were the causes of the failure. The vehicle lost total power and the power steering and brakes also failed. The vehicle restarted five minutes later; however, it shut off again without warning. The weather was not a factor. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls on the 2004 vehicles, only the 2002 and 2003 models. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The total repair cost, including the rental vehicle would be $500. The failure mileage was 85,000. Updated 02/05/09 updated 02/06/09.
