This vehicle has issues with the automatic transmission, the transmission is not responding properly to the computer and needs to be reprogrammed in this model, also the parking brakes do get mixed up and if you put the gear control in drive it goes into reverse and the parking brake default light and transmission default light is on, my vehicle malfunctioned with the parking brake while I was in the parking lot and leaving to go home I place it in drive and it jumped into reverse. . . . Very dangerous and almost caused an accident and the transmission default happened when the vehicle was in drive and would not accelerate in speed or even go properly at all.

Bought car on Friday(7/20/18). Upon arriving home and after getting acquainted and accustomed to car, detected the following problems that I was unable to detect during test drive. After reviewing car fax report and dmv car info, was aware of car history, after verifying carfax indicated they would purchase back my car if determined to be a lemon, I purchased vehicle w/ full confidence. Arriving home, determined the following safety issues with the car that I was unable to notice during a routine test drive. Upon driving vehicle at home, noticed immediately the following safety issue's 1. )brake system~applyinging breaks, prior to stopping the car jerks to an abrupt stop making pax in vehicle experience a whiplash effect 2. ) determined at home after reading manual, that the red light illumination when accelerating vehicle found out it was the "priority light" indicating coolant fluid level low. 3. ) also, attempted to go shopping on Saturday but when arrived at store realized car would not lock w/ either remote or key. Both do not lock vehicle, unable the status of alarm, and while car is parked, still unable to keep doors n vehicle locked. Informed dealer and assured me it would be inspected and addressed . Also, informed dealer for some assistance after paying over $5k cash. Above are listed problems determined, notified dealer and asked me to bring in on Monday for 2'nd attempt. Paid to much money to have to go through these tragedies when dealer should have at least been up front and honest when he assured me vehicle had no issues rather the hanging up on me the first time I tried to contact dealer on Saturday, day after purchase.
While on the expressway while coming to a stop my car switched into reverse on its own while it was in the drive. The car began to drive backwards almost causing a major crash on i64 east in virginia. This nearly resulted in me losing my life as well as passengers and other drivers. The car also has an automatic parking lock engaging error which locked my entire car and prevented me from driving. This also occurred and nearly a week ago in drive thru a week ago. While in the drive thru the car locked in park and would not allow me to drive. Unfortunately, I had to pay to have my car towed from a mcdonalds drive thru around 2:00am due to the parking lock error. Also there is an issue with the transmission that does not allow the car to catch. This I believe is the reason the car is able to slip gears in to reverse which is very dangerous. Initially I thought the issues with the car may have been a result of something I was doing. But after researching I saw that there are as many as 10 recalls for my car year and model. I was able to easily identify that my car had the exact problems listed.
Tl-the contact owns a 2003 Jaguar s type. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. There is a recall by Jaguar r513 vehicle going into reverse gear when you shift from drive and locks up. This vehicle did this. Its says the control module has to be reprogram. Now jaquar refuse to do it under the recall. . The vehicle is lock in gear and will not move. .
This is crazy I see all these complaints through the years about the 2000 s type jag all have the same problems. . Why hasn't there been a recall I just recently experienced the same thing where I had to have my car towed when I first noticed noticed it it was right after I bought the car in 2012. Now it's been almost going to 3 years and I'm having a this problem was not being able to shift into drive in a park position or even switch from reverse when I'm parked on the incline this is ridiculous, I can't even drive my car. Now with all the complaints that I've been reading about the Jaguar S-type it makes me feel like Jaguars not concerned about their safety issues while building such a prestigious and very expensive automobile there may concern was getting it out in the showroom to sell for thousands of dollars not including the expensive repairs that it takes to maintain a Jaguar. It seems to me the Jaguar dealerships be willing to stand behind their product as well as accommodate the safety issues that are clearly a defect on the many factors part because you wouldn't have that many people complaining on a forum about the same issue the same complaint. I do realize that my Jaguar is now 15 years old but it still has a whole lot of life in it I have a beautiful Jaguar. And I love it I love everything about it but this problem with the gear box shift truly need to be looked into please don't wait for a disaster to happen in these cars if the recall will require them spending millions is so be it because we as a consumer have worked hard in order to get the car of their dreams and that's the case for some people. You would think that to be dealers of a Jaguar with stand for some type of integrity and responsibility and be the first to recognize the problem.
I pulled up to stop at a resturant curb and stopped the vehicle. The engine suppenly raced to approx 6000-6500 rpm. I was able to keep my foot firmly on the brake, shift the transmission into park, and turn the engine off. When I re-started the engine everything was fine. I did' not think too much of this, outside of scaring the hell out of me, as I thought my foot might have slipped off the brake and on to the accelerator. About one week it happened again as I was pulling up to a stop behind a vehicle the engine started racing again. Again I was able to sop, within 2 feet, of the vehicle in front om me. The vehicle is now at the jagurar dealership, markel, in omaha, ne. Jaguar cars in new jersey (audrey) just informed me that it is a transmission problem and Jaguar would not accept responsibility for a possible safety defect. They offered to repair it for $7,500. I believe this is a potential safety issue and will not drive it until it is repaired. Jaguar apparently does not agree with assesment and refuses to take responsibility for the defect.
When my car has been parked for over four hours or so, I can't move it (gear)out park to get it in gear to drive. If I wait for three minutes or so it shifts fine.
I parked the car on a hill last week and couldnt get the car out of park. I had to have some buddies rock the car to get it out of park into reverse. The vehicle hasnt rode the same since. It doesnt go into drive as smoothly and the car also revs at higher rpms than average before switching into the next gear.
Parked on a slight incline at the bobops in estill, SC and the car would not come out of park, after a few tries, the gear floated and the shifter obviously had broken. This repair is going to run me 2200 dollars, Jaguar should cover the total cost of this as well as should have issued a recall for this problem years ago.

Complaint regarding services rendered by Jaguar of tacoma. The consumer stated the vehicle would not come out of park easily. The dealer changed a cable, it then would come out of park, but not as smooth. The consumer then stated it almost became impossible for the gear to come out of park.
