2 Driveshaft problem of the 2000 Jaguar S-type

Failure Date: 11/11/2008

I financed a Jaguar in February 2008 and have had a problem from almost the beginning with the gearshift, getting out of park while on the slightest incline I've had to get out and rock the car just to get it into reverse and this is all the time. More recently I reversed out of my driveway without any problems but, when I tried to put it in drive it would not move forward, backward, or anywhere. I had it towed to the closest Jaguar dealer who initially told me it may just be the gearshift cable needing to be adjusted a $150 job I said ok that sounds pretty good being a foreign car and all. I got a call back and he said it was the rear drive shafters needing to be replaced ok good not the transmission needing to be replaced. . . . . . . . How much? I asked, about $3200. . . . For about $2000 more I can get a whole new transmission, right? this is ridiculous and I think the Jaguar manufacturer should look into this problem or atleast do a recall I mean how many complaints does it take. . It should only take one to check it out this is not something that just happened it's has been ongoing since 2000 (I've done alot of research before writing this complaint) 8 years later and the problem is still here. . . I really wish Jaguar would own up and try to accommodate everyone's problems as best as they could. . Jennifer thomas.
