1 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2004 Jaguar S-type

Failure Date: 04/03/2011

The contact owns a 2004 Jaguar S-type. The contact was sitting idle in the vehicle with the brakes depressed when the vehicle abnormally accelerated. He then attempted to shift into neutral, park, and then drive as the vehicle accelerated backward. The vehicle would not longer move forward and was towed to the dealer where they advised that a bolt within a bracket that held the cable in place had fractured and would need replacing. The vehicle was repaired. There were no recalls for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

2 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2005 Jaguar S-type

Failure Date: 03/22/2009

I could not get the car into reverse when trying to back up to turn around in a residential driveway. The car had to be towed on a flat-bed truck because the car would not engage in any gear or start, once the engine was turned off. The bolt holding the gear box to the transmission had become stripped and had to be replaced and the gear shifter cable had to be "secured. ".

3 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2002 Jaguar S-type

Failure Date: 12/27/2005

Consumer complaint regarding dealers failure to properly diagnose and repair drive train failure in 2002 Jaguar s type. ** answer required*** this problem seem to be more present during cool temperatures. From the first day of purchase the vehicle demonstrated unsatisfactory operation of the transmission, exhibiting rough transition from on gear to the next when the drive train was cool. The transmission was replaced which reduced the severity of the rough shift but it never shifted as smoothly as the consumer felt a luxury vehicle should. During the winter the consumer had difficulty getting the vehicle to start. Sometimes it took three attempts to start. Then five minutes later the vehicle would stall and the fail safe warning light illuminated on the dash. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but they were unable to locate the problem. The problem recurred and again the dealer was unable to find a problem.
