1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2026

I was driving on the highway going approximately 75mph, everything was 100% normal. All of a sudden, and at once, my steering wheel started to shake, the car lost power/acceleration and speed quickly dropped. The engine was making loud noises. We pulled over, called my mechanic I've had for 35yrs. We were able to get the car to the garage driving very slowly, it wouldn't go above maybe 30mph. My mechanic initially did a diagnostic test which indicated issues with coils??after further investigation he, and 2 of his fellow mechanics determined it was a much more serious issue that has resulted in a total malfunction of the motor. I bought my car in 2021 with 46,740 miles on it, it currently has 84,756 miles. I still owe $4349. 63, 1yr left on my loan. My mechanic said he is aware of a number of recalls on Jeeps . I looked up my VIN bought found nothing. Similar issues, but nothing with that VIN.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2026

When going over bumps such as speed bumps or bumps in the road there has been a clunking noise and sometimes a grind, for a few seconds. With this the abs light also comes on. Then goes off. This has went on for the past 6-7months. Its not every time,it is very random. It will do it and not again for a while. On 3/16/26 the svc fwd warning light came on while driving. After restarting it it takes about 30seconds and it comes back on and stays on until the vehicle is shut off. There has been a couple times the vehicle has hesitated to go forward when the gas was pressed. I have taken it to an auto shop and they found code: c14a7-97 for ptu failure. They recommended to contact Jeep since there is a recall for that year. When the dealer checked my VIN it does not fall under the recall. I am afraid of driving it as I don't want it to stall on me or cause an accident as I usually have my young child with me. The shop said it would be around $6000 to repair. If not under the recall.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2026

I took my vehicle to a dealership in response to the recent recall for the ptu unit. They simply "updated software" and claim the error code indicating ptu issues was not present and therefore are not required to replace the part. My vehicle has the textbook "symptoms" as directly outlined on the first recall notice (before a remedy was available) and the second notice; noise, service 4wd notification, and jolting while driving. I explained my car is still making a noise and that I do not understand how software can fix a mechanical issue. I then contacted fca, they said they would escalate my concern and would get a response but I never heard back. Ive read multiple reports that Jeep always uses "software updates" as their fix, and that software updates can actually mask mechanical issues, which seems kind of sleazy that they will not replace the recalled part especially when relative issues are happening and if it does fail entirely while driving, it could be very dangerous. It was my understanding that manufacturers are required to replace anything recalled, regardless of whether its faulted. Im scared to drive my car, this feels like Jeep is being negligent.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2026

I was driving down the interstate in the mountainous region of montana. While coming down the hill, I lost all power in my vehicle. My car continued to slow down, unable to accelerate. I had multiple warnings/things flash across my screen that identified that I no longer had access to them. After about 30 minute or more of driving slower and slower, able to initially go 30 mph, then it continued to decrease. I was maybe to go 10 mph up a hill to try to get to the next town. I inched my way to the dealership to drop my car off. I know there is a recall on my vehicle for something related to power however in the past year, every time I take it to dealer, they say there is nothing available to fix it. I now have no vehicle and I could have easily been hit from behind during the time where I continued to lose power in the vehicle. It was a terrifying feeling to know I could be stranded on a mountain road with no cell service, etc. If there is something wrong with a vehicle because of manufacture errors, then they need to do something ASAP or provide me a new car immediately for my safety and well being. If the whole 2019 model of Jeep is an issue, then provide me a new vehicle. This is not the first issue I had with this car. Early on after purchasing it, my dash lights would all disappear while driving down the road. No speedometer, nothing. The area where the radio and other communication is at, got so hot that one could not even touch it. They did eventually replace whatever caused that problem but that was a safety issue as well. Last year I was in a car accident because I stepped on the gas to go, and there was nothing and then all of a sudden it took off and by then the car in front of me stopped. This is when I realized there is a significant problem with the power of the car. The dealer said it was probably related to the recall but don't have a way to address it.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2026

I previously reported a safety issue with my vehicle and have not received a response. My complaint number is 11709360. Issue still remains and no recall is associated to my VIN number yet, even after locating a recall for my vehicle make, model and year when researching on line.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2025

Bought car, got 4wd not available light on dash, got car "scanned" at multiple outlets and there is no "code". Took to local mechanic and he diagnosed it is the ptu (power transfer unit) and told me there was a factory recall. Contacted Jeep dealership, told them of the problem, they said my vehicle is not included in the warranty but they would diagnose for me. They did and told me it will be $3,000 to fix, but that is "if" they can get the part. Told me they located the part at 2 other dealerships, but those locations won't sell the part to them. They said they are trying to get the part, but it is on back order. When I called to check they said they still haven't been able to get the part, but won't give me any concrete information about when they can fix it.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2025

My 2019 Jeep was serviced for a 4x4 system warning light on the dashboard. At the dealership they explained my vehicle is experiencing an issue with the transfer case, power transfer unit. After this recommendation, I took this vehicle to another reputable mechanic who found the same issue, but then advised me this vehicle has a recall for this (ptu) power transfer unit issue. Upon reviewing the VIN with another dealer they state no recall has been issued for this vehicle. I was told some of these vehicles may have been built with an improperly seated input shaft snap ring in the two speed power transfer unit. Furthermore, the input shaft snap ring that is not fully seated may allow uncontrolled movement of the input shaft inward. Uncontrolled movement leads to the potential for wear to the range shift sleeve, spline damage, and/or range fork damage which can cause an unexpected loss of motive power or loss of park function. A loss motive power can cause this vehicle to crash without warning. A loss of park function can cause this vehicle crash without warning and/or injury to others outside the vehicle. Like stated above, the service 4wd message appears on the dash, with noise and vibration and changing in driving quality. Please review this and assess my vehicle for this recall, that should be associated to my VIN, thank you.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2025

Safety issue involving loss of power and braking prior to receiving a ptu recall notice in January 2025, my vehicle began experiencing sudden and unexpected loss of power while driving, particularly when braking. Since that time, the issue has worsened significantly and now occurs more frequently. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has failed to accelerate properly after braking, creating dangerous situations in traffic. In at least one incident, there was a loss of braking power that nearly caused me to run a red light. Several of these incidents were near-accidents and occurred without warning. I have brought the vehicle to my local Jeep dealership three separate times and fully explained the loss of power and braking concerns. Each time, I was told that all issues are “directly related to the ptu recall,” that there is currently “no solution,” and that “nothing can be done. ” the vehicle was returned to me without repairs despite the safety risk. The dealership has acknowledged the issue but has not provided a fix, alternative transportation, or assurance that the vehicle is safe to operate. With a longer commute and the problem occurring more often, I no longer feel safe driving the vehicle and believe an accident outside of my control is inevitable if this continues. This defect presents a serious safety hazard involving loss of acceleration and braking while driving.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2025

I'm pretty sure it's the ptu . I was driving up a hilly road and my Jeep had no power all of a sudden. Then the service 4wheel drive light came on in the cluster,/ dash. Then when I stopped the tires would not quit spinning. But I could tell only one at a time was rolling. But it would switch to a different tire . Each time it switched it would almost catapult me of to the side or towards the middle of the road. . I finally just shut the engine off . Because it seemed as though it had a mind of its own . . . Thank god the plow truck came up this road I was on . Because I was afraid to start it again due to the fact I did not want to go off in a trench . I had no traction when the wheels kept kicking in and out of 4 wheel drive . That to me is a big safety concern. I took it to a mechanic shop the following day and he put a scan tool on it and it came back, ptu . And he told me that this year model has a recall for the same problem .

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2025

This car has had the recall for quite sometime and the dealership refuses to help because there hasn’t been a fix yet with this recall. It has powered off or simply stop working in the middle of the road multiple times. Today on the most dangerous highway in colorado springs in the snow it turn off and all the messages relating to the recall turned on. It was the scariest moment of my life.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2025

Started financing this vehicle 11/8/25- driving on the interstate on 11/27/25 I started hearing thumping noises coming from my vehicle, I thought it was the road so I turned my radio and everything off and listened and it continued so I pulled over. I put the vehicle in park, walked around my vehicle to check for flat tires and to see if I possibly ran over something and there was nothing. I put it in reverse and it pulled itself back a little. . I put it back in park and checked around the vehicle again. I got back in the vehicle and put it back in drive and it wouldn't budge. I sat on the side of the road for over 6 hrs, 2 hrs away from home. My dealership didn't put in any of my information or transfer for the vehicle at the time it was suppose to be put in at signing and so I was out almost $600 in tow charges back to the dealership because my warranty hadn't went into effect. I've had 4 loaner vehicles threw this dealership which in return has caused me to lose my job because of other defects wrong with those vehicles as well. The mechanic at the dealership where I purchased the vehicle looked at it and told me that the rear differential had went out. And that the warranty company denied my claim. The dealership messaged me on 1/5/26 to come get my vehicle, that it had been fixed and was ready to go. On 1/6/26 I was proceeding to take my partner to work and as I was pulling out to leave, the vehicle started to make the same noises as before. I pulled back and parked my vehicle back. We have lost income now over this matter and possibly another job if we continue to call in or can't make it to work. I have 3 small children all under the age of [xxx] . I've called the Chrysler/Jeep dealership and everyone says they can't help me. I've pointed out the recalls of the same matter on other Jeep Cherokee's and how much of a safety issue this is. Vehicle is available for inspection any time. 1/6/26- the vehicle also had a warning sign pop up on the dash for the auto start. Information redacted pursuant to the freedo.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

Power transfer unit is showing error codes as my service 4wd has been activated for warning light. Research shows many Jeep Cherokees from 2014-2019 were recalled for same issue. My Jeep Cherokee was not and now I have the ptu issue. My vehicle is 4wd and it cannot be used, long term effects can cause problems for my vehicle.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2025

I'm an elder who lives alone. My Jeep is my only regular transportation. I'm now fearful about this Jeep recall 01c / NHTSA 25v-011 since things are happening that night mean my safety and my vehicle are greatly at risk! my src 4wd light came on about 10 days ago and I no longer have the ability to put my Jeep in 4wd as it says it must be serviced first. This only stated about 10 days ago. I have an appointment with a dealer this coming wed, Dec 3. I said I was coming in for a recall and because my srv 4wd light was coming on. I am not mechanical and didn't really understand the recall (now I do as I've researched ad nauseam!) I was told I'd have to pay $187 for a scan!! what?!? now that I know the story I will not do that! I will still go and explain my concerns but what a rip off that would have been! I am afraid now, of driving my car - and yet there is no fix as of yet - not in many months - which I read is totally inappropriate with no recourse. This is just wrong for a safety recall with my vehicle having 'symptoms' of this issue now being 'engaged' in some way. I did a couple of srv 4wd easy troubleshooting steps of disconnecting neg battery cable for 50 minutes then re-attached and brought all 4 tires up to exact same psi. Plus I had a simple scan done at auto parts store that shows nothing but a customer there offered to use his much better scanner and see photos to see what he found my ptu. What do I do? what can I do? I'd appreciate a quick response please. My only child, a [xxx] son, was killed in a car accident in 2016 and I really don't have anyone who can support me in this situation. I need your help please. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2025

Ptu failure. Causing vehicle to roll when placed in park. Service 4wd indicator light. Many other 2019 Cherokee models are part of a major recall. This one should be included.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2025

While driving my 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the vehicle's start/stop system malfunctioned and caused the engine to completely shut off at a traffic light. I had my hazard lights on, and while stopped safely another driver rear ended my vehicle. The Jeep has had repeated issues with stalling and engine shut-off since I purchased it. This is a serious safety concern and could have caused greater injury. I brought my vehicle to the dealership 3 times for the same issues once back in 01/25/2023, when the vehicle was still under warranty a part was ordered and replaced, but the same issues kept recurring. When I brought the vehicle back in in 2024 I was told because my warranty had expired I would have to pay out of pocket to repair the issue.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2025

I am writing to report a safety concern regarding my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. I recently learned that a specific part on the 2018 Jeep Cherokee was recalled due to a known defect (oil pump recall (recall t65 / NHTSA 17v-670). My 2019 Cherokee is now experiencing the exact same issue that was identified in the recall for the previous model year. Because the problem appears to be identical to the 2018 recall condition, I believe this may indicate a continuing safety defect affecting additional model years that were not included in the original recall campaign. I am requesting: 1. A formal review and investigation into whether the recalled part on the 2018 model also affects the 2019 Cherokee. 2. A full refund to what I paid to have this repaired. And yes a receipt can be provided. 3. Written confirmation of the steps you will take to address this matter. This issue is a safety concern, and I want to ensure it is properly documented and investigated. Please advise on how this can be resolved. Thank you, [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] 2019 Jeep Cherokee information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2025

Power transfer unit (ptu), the service 4wd light keeps coming on and off. 2019 Jeep Cherokee.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2025

Last week my 4wd service light came on. I took it to get diagnosed and was advised my ptu was faulty and needed to be replaced. There are recalls out for a faulty ptu but my VIN was not included.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2025

I was getting off the highway and my car stopped on me. I put my emergency lights on. I put the car on park and tried turning it on. The brake was hard to push down. I gave it a few minutes to rest and I tried 2 more times. The second time it turned on but imediately turned back off. I let it rest a minute or so and it finally turned on. I was scared for my life because there all on coming traffic coming off the interstate. I did call the police for help but as soon as I got it started I called back for them not to come. I also got a warning saying engine warming. 6:30 am 10-30-25.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2025

While im driving my car completley shuts down with no notice or anything. I have to restart the whole vehicle for it to start running again. This happened to me while I was on the high way slowing down and on the street slowing down to turn. I almost got into 2 car accidents this morning because of this. Not sure whats going on but my dashboard completely goes blank and flashes when this happened. This occured on 10/29/2025 at 6;45-6;50 am.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2025

Have had multiple issues where stop/stop fails while at a stop in the street and either doesn’t start again or starts after a while. Last time on 10/29/2025 I was at a stop just getting off I-10 and the car would not start and gave start stop error and took multiple minutes before starting again. This first began 5/2024. Dealership has replace the battery, starter relay, and the start twice. It is a huge safety concern for me being stuck in the middle of the street or at a stop.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2025

The 4wd service light keeps coming on and off in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee latitude plus. The obd2 code c1494-92 displays. This is directly related to a power transfer unit (ptu) issue. There was a recall issued in January of 2025 (recall 01c). However, I am being told that my VIN is not covered under this recall. I contacted the manufacturer (Jeep) and there were not able to give me a reason why the 01c recall does not cover my vehicle. The NHTSA referred me to the manufacturer. But I keep getting the runaround and nobody is providing me a clear answer on this issue.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2025

Approximately two weeks before the major symptom appeared, the “service 4wd” warning light illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle’s performance didn’t seem to be noticeably affected, so I checked for any active recalls or service bulletins but found none that applied to my VIN. I monitored the situation closely in case it was an electrical or sensor-related issue. Shortly after, a loud clunking noise began coming from the drivetrain area, most noticeable during acceleration and deceleration. After arriving home, I immediately stopped driving the vehicle due to serious safety concerns and contacted my mechanic. A certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the transfer case (power transfer unit) had failed and required replacement. The mechanic stated that this is a common problem in 2019 Jeep Cherokees. After researching, I found many other reports of similar failures, all traced to transfer-case defects. However, my VIN is not currently included in any recall. I believe this defect is related to known issues affecting Jeep Cherokee transfer cases and should be investigated further by NHTSA. I respectfully request that NHTSA open or expand an investigation into transfer case and ptu failures on 2019 Jeep Cherokee models to determine whether a recall and reimbursement for repairs are warranted.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2025

Driving from pittsburgh to philadelphia, then to DC, then va, power steering service show up and caused my Jeep hard to turning. Completely unexpected. I just got them 2 month ago.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2025

I have already received the official recall notice, but I have been told by both my local mechanic and fca representatives that there is still no remedy available. In the meantime, my vehicle is exhibiting exactly the defect described in the recall and is now unsafe to drive. Here is my experience: in early 2024, while running errands, I stopped at a red light before making a left turn. When the light turned green, the car would not move forward. I had to turn on my blinkers while other drivers were honking. I panicked, tried turning the car off and on, and eventually it moved again. This same issue has happened four other times since then. Most recently, on 8/22/25 the car left me stranded in a grocery store parking lot. It was full of groceries, making multiple alert sounds, and would not start. My cousin had to leave what he was doing to try to jump it; when that didn’t work my brother and nephew went to buy a new battery. When they returned, the car started on its own and we returned the battery. We took the vehicle to our local autozone to run tests in which it passed all. Since that day, every time I turn the car on it stalls momentarily before starting. I have also called certified Jeep dealers in my area who have stated the parts are unavailable and there is no eta on their availability.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2025

Am concerned about theses vehicles even being on the roadways with no resolution to the safety recall being resolved. Reported in Jan 2025, no resolution yet. For 8 months? "parts are not available". It appears by documentation that if you are in the states you can get a dealer to check via software to detect and monitor for excessive wear within a ptu. If ptu failure is confirmed by software, fca us will replace the ptu for all impacted customers experiencing messaging related to the defect to replace the ptu. Warranty extension terms and unlimited years/unlimited mileage. Why can we not check the vehicle out at a canadian dealer to confirm what we are potentially driving down our busy highways?.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2025

This Jeep suddenly started smoking while driving. Driver immediately pulled over and noticed oil all over on ground. Towed to mechanic and the transfer case has a large crack and the rear differential is bad. Repairs exceeding $4000. Also, on a regular basis the car loses power while driving. Driver has to pull over and restart car. This has not been fixed yet. Not sure what it is. Both issues are known issues for Jeep Cherokees and also this year Jeep. Yet there is no recall for this VIN number. The costs for fixing this and the dangers are unacceptable. Scared about the power loss and not sure what my mechanic will find. This car should be included in the recalls for both issues. I am super disappointed in Jeep. I filed a report with Jeep cares and will also be contacting the attorney general and a consumer attorney. These issues need to be included in the existing recalls for this VIN number. Also, mechanic had to get a refurbished transfer case because there is a backlog of new transfer cases. Clearly this is a big issue.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2025

The car shut off again in the middle of the road, this really needs to be addressed.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2025

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? unknown; believe it may be something with the suspension or possibly the transmission. Their is a chirping sound when making a low speed (15 mph or so) turn more prominent when making turn up a hill. Sounds can also sometimes be replicated when letting off the accelerator and getting back on it again which is why I believe may be a transmission issue. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? unknown has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? it has not yet been reported. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? I did have the service awd light illuminate a while ago but it shut off when vehicle was restarted.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2025

My 2019 Jeep Cherokee latitude plus is currently inoperable due to a failed power transfer unit (ptu). The local authorized Jeep dealership confirmed that the ptu has failed and that the replacement part is no longer being manufactured or available anywhere in the u. S. This is a well known defect for this type of vehicle. The dealership informed me that there is no repair option at this time and that there is no timeline for when my vehicle may eventually be added to the recall batch list. Stellantis customer care has acknowledged the problem but denied my request for a buyback, citing vehicle mileage and age, even though the defect renders the car unsafe and undrivable. The ptu failure can cause a sudden and total loss of power to the wheels while driving, which poses a significant safety risk to the driver and others on the road. Before the complete failure, I noticed grinding noises, steering wheel jerking during acceleration, and the vehicle would not shift gears. The failure was confirmed by the dealer, and the vehicle remains at their facility. I am requesting that Jeep or stellantis provide a dealer-assisted trade credit (trade assist or goodwill adjustment) to help me transition into a functional vehicle. I continue to make loan payments on a vehicle that cannot be driven or repaired through no fault of my own. This situation leaves me stranded with a financed vehicle that is unsafe, unrepairable, and unsupported by the manufacturer.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2025

I have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, on August 6th around 545am, while on highway 70e in maryland, my transfer case completely seperated itself (per repair shop). I immediately pulled over, there was lots of smoke. Roadside assistance towed my vehicle to repair shop. Repair shop and Jeep dealership have told me that the transfer case won't be in for approximately 2 months, due to the large quantity on order for the 2019 Jeep recall, however my VIN was not on this recall and clearly this is a known issue. Since this is a known issue, and so many being on order, why is my VIN not apart of the recall and since it just completely separated causing a huge sudden safety issue, what needs to be done to add this to the recall?.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2025

Delamination of the console screen. Due to this delamination the vehicle has "ghost" called s. O. S. (911) and other people multiple times. It frequently changes radio stations (not a big deal) while driving on the highway has put the rear view camera on screen randomly. Which has been a very scary distraction. It has also changed from a/c to heat (also not a big deal) the biggest safety issues are the dialing of 911 and the rear view camera turning on. This will happen even if I turn off the screen completely. I have brought this by a dealer. They say it is a common issue. I have also brought it by a private auto mechanic. They also say it is common, but that its not usually as bad. I first noticed the delamination when I purchased the vehicle at a dealer, I thought it was just the screen protector lifting. It has progressively gotten worse. There are multiple reports on this when I have googled the issue. There have been multiple times this has happened. I will put the most recent of dates, because that was the worst, and I haven't driven it since, since I'm afraid of having an accident.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2025

Car shuts off, once while in the middle of a turn almost went off road and couldn’t use brake or turn wheel. There were three other times it shut off at red lights and I have to put car in park and press the start button. Two of those times car had just started with oil light, was told that it is linked to the oil and to always keep it full until recall is issued. However yesterday on my way to work with full oil it shut off again. I then did my regular way to fix it and kept driving to work, out of nowhere my car starts only being able to drive up to 29 miles per hour I’m just about to get on the highway so I pull over and have to shut off again fixing the problem. This seems incredibly dangerous due to it also when having this shut off issue a notice on my car says service 4wd unavailable. We live in new england the snow can be pretty bad. This car feels unsafe, I hope you realize this model has many issues and will address them, thank you!.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2025

Found rear axle assembly has locked up, terrible binding noise when trying to move. Found rear axle to be low on fluid and burnt up. Needs new rear axle assembly. . . . Remove and replace rear axle assembly note rear axle assembly is on back order since 8/2025. Unable to drive or get repaired. Making car payments without the ability to use. This vehicle has a "special gear ratio" that is not available. Due to the back order, price of replacement part continues to rise due to the lack of availability and demand. There has been no confirmation on when this part will be available.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2025

The ptu needs to be replaced at 83,000 miles. A message appeared on the dashboard and a diagnostic by a dealership confirmed it is the ptu.
