My Jeep will accelerate forward when breaking, stall at a red light and roll back, massive humming and grinding on the peddle, start/stop failure and failure to start. 10 Air Bag problem of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/01/2025

I was going home, speed limit 55 mph, so thats what I was doing. A SUV entering a intersection ahead of me, ( I dont have a stop or yield sign, but they do) the SUV never stops, rolling into the intersection, as im entering the intersection at 55 mph. I tried avoidance at last second to no avail. My front drivers corner smashed the middle, passenger side of the other SUV. My Jeep continues to the right, uncontrollable, stops in someone's front yard, engine still running. The other car swerved to the left, still on the road, rolling on its side. My airbags never deployed, I didnt even get any lights on the dash, I had to shut the engine off. Not one airbag deployed, and nothing even recognized there was something wrong. This car is supposed to have all options for airbags, yet a collision at highway speed, with post wreck travel of less than 50 feet, and not one single air bag deployed. I very literally could have died right there. I honestly dont know how I didn't.

Ok next thing the seat belts up front and back almost cut you so tight you can’t move and you not even be driving and the seatbelt will just take spells that really hurt my girls don’t even like riding in it anymore. It’s been hectic with my kids and I driving somewhere due to safety concerns.

23 Air Bag problem of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/19/2024

2019 Jeep Cherokee with only 35,000 miles. There was a recall previously for lateral acceleration sensors that covered over 40,000 2019 Cherokees. This vehicle is affected with the same problem, but I’m being told that because the VIN doesn’t fall in a particular range it is not covered. The repair could end up being extremely expensive due to the labor required to repair the defective sensor. The car displays multiple warnings that electronic stability control and 4wd are unavailable. Codes pulled revealed one fault code, c0061 which is for the lateral acceleration sensor which also is tied into the airbag system. Recall v63 (NHTSA 19v-449) issued in August 2019 is related to this exact issue. There are numerous reports of the same problem occurring with other 2019 Jeep Cherokees on Jeep owner forums. Jeep should have expanded the recall to cover this known defect.

35 Air Bag problem of the 2018 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/22/2024

Last week we noticed steering wheel controls not working, steering wheel heater . . Cruise control ,, hands free, controls today took in to Jeep dealer in superior WI was told it is the clock spring , squib,, said that we have to replace entire unit including new airbag . . As we do not know for sure if until the work done ,air bag would deploy as per dealer ,he isn't 100 percent sure. ,and the entire thing has to be replaced at a hefty cost of 1000. 00 as well as safety , being told that other larger trucks and Jeep models have had this as a recall I contacted Jeep and they said nothing they can do ,, but to hang on to receipts in the event of a future recall. . We do not feel that they are treating this as the safety issue that it truly is . This is after we have had rear driver caliper replaced over heating and seizing , at 800. 00. Also been told this is common for Jeep and another safety issue as well . The dealer said both are recall worthy on this vehicle . This has been all within 50 -60,000 miles. . We feel something needs to happen here before someone gets killed. Thank you.
