The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "4wd unavailable - service soon" was displayed with the 4wd icon illuminated intermittently for three months. The contact that while driving at 15-25 mph, and there was a slight grinding sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced, and the ptu needed to be replaced. At 20,000 miles my Jeep Cherokee shuttered when braking at highway speeds. It was so violent it almost threw my Jeep into the dividing wall. I took this to my dealer and was told it was a $700 repair to replace my rotors and break pads. This is covered under a Jeep service bulletin but was not a recall. Jeep knew before my vehicle rolled off the assembly line that the brake rotors warped under conditions of high heat or the use of salt on the highways. This is due to the composite metal of the rotor. I then took my vehicle to my regular mechanic and had the rotors replace with Chrysler parts. Once again I am experiencing the vibration at 54,000. I have been told the same thing. I am now keeping a collection of warped Jeep rotors in hope that eventually they will be held accountable for this problem.

Consumer was driving on two lane road at about 20 mph. Vehicle in front of consumer stopped, when consumer attempted to stop vehicle brakes did not respond, consumer 's vehicle hit other vehicle in the rear. After accident consumer drove home but still had no brakes, had to use emergency brake to stop. Consumer had mechanic come to her house to examine vehicle. Mechanic found that brake rotors where separated. Consumer done research on internet to find that there was recall 00v136000 on make/ model and year, but manufacture told consumer this vehicle was not included in recall . . My problems began at 9300 miles. Brakes pulsating and shaking in the steering. Front rotors where warped and needed to be resurfaced. Had front rotors resurfaced 2 times and replaced 1 time, all occured under 20,000 miles. At 21,000 miles the rear rotors where resurfaced and now I have to return to the service center for the fifth time with 23000 miles on my vehicle brakes are pulsating again. Found that there was a service bulletin that was issued on Dec. 02 regarding front brakes pulsating during light to moderate brake application for 1999 to 2002 Jeep grand Cherokees. This is due to excessive thickness variation of the brake rotors. Obviously this problem still exists in 2003 models and daimlerchyrsler still refuses to fix the problem at no cost to the consumer.
I own a 2003 Jeep grand Cherokee limited, which I purchased brand new, and I have had to replace the front brakes and rotors at least four to five times. The car only has 43,000 miles on it and it is now in need of new front brakes and rotors again. Every time the brakes have been replaced, they have been done at no cost except for the last time. We had to pay for the parts and the dealer paid for the service. The dealer at that point advised us that we were on our own after that. Needless to say, we have been greatly inconvenienced by this and don't feel that it is fair to have to replace the brakes and rotors so often after normal use. Furthermore, we feel that this is a design flaw with the vehicle and we have been told by the dealer that they can't do much about this and that a lot of people have the same problem and that Chrysler hasn't stepped up to the plate to do anything. I feel that this is a serious potential safety threat and that we are one of only a few affected. Please advise.
2001 Jeep Cherokee front brake rotors corroded. The rotors also flaked creating a hazardous condition. The dealer was aware of this prior to the end of the warranty period, but did not correct this defect. The consumer also experienced standing water in the foot wells, a/c failure, fan failure and the doors not being aligned properly. When the consumer applied the brakes, the vehicle started to vibrate severely. The consumer took the vehicle to dealership and was informed by mechanic that rotors had warped unevenly and excessively. The rotors replaced on 4/21/05.
2000 Jeep Cherokee engine stopped without warning. ** answer required***. There was a hole in the piston. After the dealer inspected the vehicle, they stated there was not enough coolant in the system which caused the front frost plug heater to come out and that the no 1 and 2 piston melted down. The consumer had to replace the engine with only 42,000 miles on the vehicle. The rotors were replaced twice. The rubber around all four doors shrunk to the point that wind and water would come through. Periodically, when the vehicle was locked the headlights and taillights would come on and go off for a few minutes. The chrome on the wheels was corroded and coming off. The front passenger electric lock was making a strange noise when the doors were lock or unlocked.

Vehicle shook uncontrollably. Consumer was able to maintain control the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer. Mechanic determined that brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. 2002 Jeep grand Cherokee se- brake vibrations and front end shimmers with high speed brakeing with only 28000 miles. Dc and Jeep warrenty will not cover new brake rotors and pads to resolve issue.
The vehicle shimmied when the brakes were applied at 30-60 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who turned both front rotors because they were out of round. This work was done at 18,000 miles. Currently, at 24,000 miles the problem recurred.
Brakes malfunctioned both right and left rotors were scored and ruined on the inside only. The brakes failed at 33,809 miles. Looking through the wheel from the outside, the outside of the rotors looked good with no unusual wear. The vehicle also had air conditioning problems and needed to have the muffler replaced.
While braking there would be a grinding noise, then vehicle would lurch forward. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. Brake rotor separated while vehicle in operation. Vehicle , souds lke metal rubbing metal.

Problems with standing water in the footwell, failed air conditioner, rubbing fan and door adjustments. There was standing water in the passenger foot well. The vehicle also needed new brakes due to rusted rotors. The consumer requested reimbursement.
Brakes on a Jeep Cherokee. The brakes on my 2001 Jeep Cherokee have started shaking the car rappidly when the brakes are applied at freeway speeds. I have contacted the dealer and have been informed that this is not a warranty issue. I also called a local meineke location and was told that this is a common issue with most Cherokee's. The result is that this will cost me $300 for a problem that should be covered under a recall.
At speeds of 50 to 60 miles an hour while braking or if a bump is hit in the road, front tire vibration occurs and will only stop when speed is lowered to below 40 mph. After typing in "Jeep Cherokee front end vibration" on internet search did I find that this problem is present in all Cherokees. It seems that the problem stems from the brake calipers warping the rotors every 8-10 thousand miles. This is ridiculous and is a safety issue. This vibration moves the steering side to side violently.
Vehicle brake rotors found to be rusted severely. During a free brake check the technician determined that the rotors were severely rusted and disintegrated. The front rotors vibrated violently when attempting to stop from any speed, resulting in extended stopping distance.
Purchased a new 2001 Jeep Cherokee sport. When brakes applied car weaved or pulled to the left. When driving at an undetermined speed, the front end vibrated. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection and the mechanic determined that the front rotors failed. The consumer stated that front rotors were replaced three times, every 15,000 miles. The consumer found three other vehicles of the same make/model experienced that same problem.
When pressing on the brake pedal at any speed vehicle vibrated from the front end. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection, and mechanic I determined both front rotors failed. The consumer stated that front rotors were replaced over nine times, starting at 5,000 miles of owning the vehicle ,and currently the vehicle was at 36,202 miles. Consumer informed Chrysler on two occasions about this issue.
While applying the brakes vehicle shook and vibrated. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that brake pads and both front brake rotors needed to be replaced.
While applying the brakes pedal pulsated, and steering wheel shook. Driver was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic replaced the brake pads and both frontal rotors.
All four brake rotors wore out. Dealerships replaced the rotors twice, but problem recurred. Also, vehicle experienced extended stopping distance.
When applying the brake front end vibrated. Dealer determined that front and rear rotors were warped.
While applying the brakes vehicle vibrated uncontrollably. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle. Drove the vehicle to dealer for analysis, and mechanic noticed that the brake rotors needed to be replaced.
While applying the brakes, the pedal went down to the floor. The vehicle was towed to gas station. The mechanic replaced rotors due to corrosion.

Consumer complained about front brake rotors, the front brake rotors had been replaced on four separate occasions, but the problem still occurs.
When driving and braking under any conditions brake pedal pulsates which results in extended stopping distance. Factory defective pads, calipers, and rotors caused excessive vibration, shudder and pulsation while braking. Chrysler issued a TSB with a replacement kit no better than the oem. Consumer was forced to order aftermarket brakes and pads to correct the problem. Consumer filed suit against Chrysler.
