I had to replace my front rotors at 35,000 - Chrysler said it's normal wear and tear and wouldn't fix them. There was a problem with a seal on the gas tank. I brought it in for service at least 4 or 5 times before it was fixed. A $2. 00 wire broke inside the front door for the front speaker at 43,000 miles and they charged me $200. 00 to fix it. The salesman sold me a convenience package that was purported as an extended warranty, but was actually a towing and rental car package.

The consumer was driving the vehicle when the brakes began to pulsate when pumped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer the pads were replaced the pads and the rotors because of a seal leak. They also indicated that the brakes were not put on properly. The same problem exists again and they said that the rotors need to be replaced again. The manufacture has been contacted.

There is either a design or manufacturing defect in the brake rotors/calipers of the recent Jeep grand Cherokee. The brake rotors have been replaced on three separate occasions in the first 18 months (July 2003, Dec. 2003, June 2004), and I have just been informed by the dealer, on February 10, 2005, that the brake pads are thin and the front rotors are rusted and warped and need replacement again. This will be the fourth time, and my car presently has 28,000 miles on it. It is a 2003 Jeep grand Cherokee that I purchased in October 2002 from central auto group in norwood, massachusetts. The warranty does not cover future repairs, and I have been told by the manufacturer, daimler Chrysler that there is nothing it can do but that I will need to have the rotors replaced at my own cost. The central auto group service manager told me that the calipers and brakes had been re-designed a few years ago. I also understand many other drivers have had similar issues and that Chrysler issued a technical service bulletin on June 10, 2002 regarding this issue.

The front rotors were worn which caused extended stopping distance. The front brake rotor had disintegrated. The brake pads only made contact with 75 percent of the rotors.

The front rotors on the vehicle warped which caused the front end to shimmy while driving at any speed. Whenever the brake pedal was depressed there was a spongy feeling and the steering wheel vibrated annoyingly.

Numerous problems with 1998 Jeep Cherokee sport. During the first year of owning the vehicle the vehicle was at the dealer 12 times for rust marks on the vehicle which the dealer described as fall out and they insisted it was something the consumer had done to cause it to happen so soon, the electrical system failed, as the consumer was driving all the gauges went out and the vehicle just stopped, the air condition and radio were inoperative and still is, there was a thumping noise which was attributed to the rotors which was supposedly fixed. The most recent problem was with the power windows.

1999 Jeep grand Cherokee experiencing problems with bad rotors. The consumer experienced a severe shudder in the steering while attempting to brake at speeds of 45 mph. As a result the rotors were replaced on oct 9, 2002. Shortly thereafter the rotors went bad again and were replaced on may 8, 2003, June 9, 2003, Mar 5, 2004 and June 2004. On July 8, 2004 the rotors were replaced with the new upgrade package at the consumers expense, however 9 months later the severe shudder returned.
Took to dealer, said that it was normal wear and tear for a rotor to be warped at 17,500 miles.
At about 8,000 miles while driving down from big bear lake, the car experienced sever front end vibration during braking he car was returned to tuttle-click where they determined the rotors were warped. The rotors were turned under warranty. About 11 months later while returning from my next trip to big bear the problem recurred at 13,000 miles. The car was returned to tuttle- click and the problem was identified as warped rotors. This time they refused to turn the rotors even though the 3 year / 30,000 mile warranty was in effect. This is a safety related design defect and should be corrected.
Brake rotor separated from hub during braking. Contacted dealer, was told that my Jeep was not part of the recall.
Front brake rotors and pads are wearing excessively from 26,400 miles to present mileage. Repairs made at a repair shop. Dealer notified. Feel free to provide any further information.
While driving at 65mph, the brakes began to grind, and the wheel bearing on both sides were making noise. The consumer states that both front hub bearings and axle seals were replaced at the dealer. The rotors were completely destroyed with the factory pads intact. The pad were still good. The rotors however were so thin that they crumbled(very dangerous). Now the rear hubs are loud an need replacing. The consumer has replaced the rear wheel bearing, and the bearings on the rear axle in the hub are seperated/extremely dangerous-part of the bearing are spinning in the inside of the hub.
Complaint received via e-mail. I have had a consistent problem with my brakes since I brought it. The first failure occurred at 9012 miles. Dealership replaced the front calipers and rotors. Then at 18811 miles dealership resurfaced the front and rear rotors because they were warped. At 24,806 miles the failure recurred. Dealership replaced all 4 brake rotors. Currently, at 32,000 miles the failure recurred, but the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer, dealership, and other Jeep owners informed me that this was a design flaw that occurred in the earlier and some later model Jeeps, but has been modified in 2005 model. The consumer stated that the vehicle was taken in for repair three times while under warranty. The engine light was on for one week. The low coolant light comes on when the vehicle is started (cold) and goes off when the vehicle is warm.
The front disc brake rotors has serere corrosion, causing the wear surface too separate from the hub. This corrosion didn't happen over night but over a long period of time. Recalls have occur in other states, this state should have been included also.

Vibration when braking, more at 50 mph and higher and at low speed. Rotors were grounded in June of 2001, then, replaced 10 days later. Then, grounded again in November 2001. At this time there is vibration again.
When applying brakes, vehicle vibrates/shakes severely. Dealer notified and informed consumer that front brake rotors were out of round due to overheating.
In oct 2000 lis. A Jeep from damiolier chysler. In 2002 the Jeep was all over the road took to thier shop they cut the rotters the Jeep only had 6,000 miles in the year 2003 hda to return not even a year had gone by and they re-cut the rotors with only 12,000 mile on the Jeep[. This is the year 2005 the Jeep has only 24,000 miles and since Dec. 2004 it started again. The place where I got the car is no longer in NJ now it will cost me 500. 00 to fix something which should have been fix right the first time.
Recall 00v136000 repairs have not corrected the recall problem. Rotors have been replaced 3 times since first taken into dealer for recall. Battery failed and was replaced. Dash gauges malfunctioned due to cluster harness failure. The air bag light stays on. Fog lamp switch failed. The front pinion seal was leaking. The buckle for rear middle seat belt broke.
Brake rotors warped and were replaced at 22,000 miles and warping has reoccurred. Front end shakes when brakes are applied, and there was extended stoppping distance. Dealer was notified.
Vehicle and steering wheel shake violently between 50-60mph. Rotors warping was a preexisting problem that started at 9,000 miles. Dealer cut rotors stating, that Chrysler only does repairs not replacments per Chrysler. Please add more information.
The vehicle shakes when the brakes are applied , in particular going downhill. This happened the first time at 10,000 miles. Returned vehicle to the dealer. They said the rotors were warped. The brakes were under warranty so they fixed them. Now it has happened again. This is a known problem, but no one seems to want to acknowledge it.
Front brake rotors were replaced once and turned twice less then two years, and problem is reoccurriing. Dealer notified. The engine was hard to start due to fuel pump module failure which was replaced.
