On-going / intermittent problem with vehicle brake system; whenever brakes were applied on wet or rough surface road, it caused wheels to lock up and fishtail. This resulted in vehicle being out of control, bounce off gurdrail and spin before stoppin. No injuries reported. Dealer notified, and vehicle was being inspected by dealer .
Vehicle experiencing problem with vibration whenever brakes are applied. Dealer notified, and turned front rotors. Problem stopped and reoccurred again at 3000 miles. Vehicle back at the dealer, and they are turning the rotors again. Problem apperea again, and dealer replaced the rotors.
Rotors separated, consumer tried to brake, and vehicle went to the side. Consumer did not remember what side.
Abs brakes had to be replaced. Also, replaced front brake rotors, and 4-wheel drive locking hubs.
Vehicle was involed in sudden acceleration while drivingon hwy at approximately 55 mph. As soon as driver lifted foot off brake pedal, vehicle suddenly took off out of control, hit a parked vehicle before stopping. Upon impact, both air bags failed to deploy. Dealer notified. Can NHTSA help in this matter.
Sunroof: in the full open position, between 30 & 50mph, with the side windows up, or partially open, a horriffic vibration is felt in the "cabin" which is irritating to the ears, vocal chords, is so bad, that the radio speakers seem like they are ready to break. Dealer refuses to arrange a meeting with Chrysler rep to discuss the problem, which I feel is attributed to a bad design, which Jeep is calling "wind buffeting" in the owners manual, indicating they know there is this problem. The starter failed, and rocking the vehicle to a better spot on the starter allowed it to start, but vehicle is still sluggish starting at times, seeming as though the batter is weak. Jeep will not replace starter until a total failure. Brakes. . Bad vibration due to apparent warped rotors. These are being replaced on warranty without dispute, indicating that Chrysler knows there is a problem with the rotors. This vehicle seems to be the "lemon of the fleet" only giving a maximum of 14. 5mpg, highway, and less in city only, and does not idle smooth.
Steering wheel vibrates when brakes are applied at highway speed. Was told rotors were warped. The first incident occurred at 25,000 miles, had rotors grounded. Is happening again now at 50,500 miles.
Was traveling 35-45mph. Coming to a stop. Applied brakes. Felt brakes pulsating under foot. Vehicle kept moving. Going down hill & pushed harder on brakes. Vehicle still was going. Had to use emergency brakes to stop vehicle. Took vehicle to dealer to have it checked.
Driving in dry weather conditions about 35-40 mph had to make a panic stop. Defect in braking system caused only right front wheel to lock up, resulting in vehicle twisting sideways and running through an intersection. Dealer cannot identify problem.
Braking system malfunctioned, causing extended stopping distance which may result in a crash. Please provide further information.

While driving downhill about 15 mph, with foot on brake pedal and depressing the brake pedal more coming to a stop sign, the pedal went to the floor and there was no breaking ability at all. Consumer made a sharp right turn and vehicle flipped over. The vehicle is being repaired. Please describe details.
When pedal is depressed, feels like stepping on brick & nothing happens to vehicle. This causes vehicle to have a longer stopping distance before abs kicks in. Took to dealer & was informed that there was no problems with the brakes.
While coming to a stop the vehicle lost its brakes and power steering, causing the vehicle to go into a spin. The vehicle has severe damage. The manufacturer sent an investigator out, and determined that nothing was wrong with the vehicle.
Have taken vehicle in for brake repairs on three different occassions - twice while in warranty and once after warranty - rotors were finally replaced on last visit after complaining persistantly and speaking with the gm at dealership. The problem is occuring again and is worse than ever. When brakes are applied the vehicle vibrates and brake pedal pulsates and try's to vear of course to the left or right. It is more pronounced at highway speeds. Heavy pressure must be applied to get the vehicle to stop and there is a narrow window of when it's just enough pressure to stop normally and when the brakes want to grab to quickly. .
Brake rotors replaced.
Brakes replaced.
Driving 30mph started applying (abs) brakes slowly; vehicle did not slow up; brake pedal to floor; vehicle continued on. Turned steering wheel to avoid another vehicle; hit cement divider in hwy. Air bags did not deploy. Took to dealer.
When driving at any speed and applyingthe brakes, there is vibration coming out of vehicle.
On three occasions vehicle lost total braking while applying brakes. Pedal would intermittently go to the floor. When this occurred, had to pump pedal to return the brake or to get vehicle to stop. Vehicle been in dealer shop, and problem still occurring. Please feel free to provide any further details.
While driving on highway would step on brakes and could feel a jump on the steering wheel, which gave a clue about bad rotors that had to be replaced every year since purchasing of vehicle. The dealer claims the problem is caused by driving with foot on the brake and heating up the rotors causing them to warp.
When abs brakes are applied, they would vibrate. Took to dealer & mechanic said rotors needed replacing. Had entire brakes checked. Brakes resurfaced. Been back twice. Problem still exists.
Antilock brakes defective.
Vehicle pulls to the right during normal operation and during braking. The dealer has tried to correct the problem.
Extremely long stopping distances and extremely high pedal effort, added some rebuilt parts.
Rear brakes lock-up when wet or cold out. Vehicle returned to dealership total of 5 times for repair. Manufacturer contacted, and a case number issued. Returned vehicle to dealership again. Could not duplicate problem, and dealership would not install any replacement parts under warranty. Condition still exists. Unable to receive satisfaction from dealership and/or manufacturer.
Brakes began to pulse at 18k and now at 22k when running about 55 mph the vehicle will pulses hard and makes it difficult to control when trying to stop. This is very dangerous when in heavy traffic or on wet roads.
Brakes have made a squealing noise every since the Jeep was purchased. The dealership said it was dust on the brakes, so they cleaned them. This has not corrected the problem. It has been reported to the dealership severl times. We recently had to have our tires replaced due to a "blowout" the tire dealer stated the brakes were in bad shape and needed to be replaced.
When applying brakes vehicle pulled to the left and did not stop. Vehicle crossed the center line, and hit another vehicle head-on. Also, driver's side airbag did not deploy. Dealer did not look at vehicle. There is currently recall 0013600 on the front brake rotors.
Braking system malfunctioned, causing extended stopping distance which may result in a crash. Also problems with the fuel sendeing unit which won't read the fuel gauge properly. Please provide further information.
When brakes are applied front end pulsates, and steering wheel wobbles from left to right. Dealer has been duplicating problem.
Design flaw in degradation of the seals on the drum of the vehicle's anti-lock braking system. This allowed more moisture into the drums, causing unpredictable locking of the vehicle's rear brakes. Such locking could cause driver to lose control. Consumer made many attempts to find a resolution with Jeep and local dealerships and the customer service division, to no avail. The dealerships admitted the problem was endemic to the design and replacing the brakes wouldn't eliminate the problem- it would come back in time. They admitted it's an inherent feature, but stated they have no plans to attempt to rectify it. Other than the brake problem, the consumer was pleased with the purchase.
