1 Brake Popping Noise problem of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/28/2017

Occurs intermittently with vehicle in motion and attempting to brake. While braking, the brake pedal intermittently snaps down about a half inch and makes a very loud popping noise that emits from somewhere within the primary brake pedal mechanism. It is startling for the driver and can cause the driver to slam on the brakes. Brakes worked normally from purchase in may 2016 until Jan 2017 when a Chrysler software update was performed that changed the parking brake from manual on/off to auto on/off. Dealer has been unable to correct the problem. They changed the brake booster but it did not correct the issue. They are now stating it is normal and refusing to work on it anymore. I have returned the vehicle at least 3 times for this malfunction and believe the brakes are unsafe. Vehicle is still in the possession of the dealer (has been for 2-weeks now), with no work being done to find and fix the issue.
