Battery problems of the 2006 Jeep Commander

I purchased this vehichle in Aug of 2012 and have been having electrical issues that have caused my vehichle to shut of while driving. I have also had issues with starting because the electrical system is failing. I have researched this issue and there are already many complaints on this vehichle with the same issues I'm having. I am very disappointed in this vehichle after spending the money to purchase it with 44,000 miles on it and have had nothing but issues with the electrical system, dash lights, and battery.

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving at various speeds. The vehicle operated as normal upon restart. The contact also stated that the vehicle would intermittently experience difficulty starting and required a jump start. In addition, the windows would involuntarily begin opening when he intended to close them. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the failure could possibly have been due to the electrical system. The battery was replaced but the failures continued. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 08v203000 (power train:automatic transmission:control module (tcm, ppm)). No additional repairs were performed. The failure mileage was 60,000.

The interior lighting and the instrument panel lighting began to flicker erratically, and a warning light on the instrument panel displayed a message indicating that the transmission overheated. The contact also stated that she previously experienced intermittent deceleration as well as flickering of the interior lighting. The vehicle was towed home. The dealer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to bring the battery in for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.

Have a 2006 Jeep Commander. Lights have been flickering and car has not wanted to start. Found that battery was not holding charge and replaced. Now we drive at speed and the engine begins to race while not increasing speed. Have taken to dealer in cincinnati,northgate and they reset computer but before we could leave the bay area it started making a grinding noise and the check engine light is back on. They say the are going to have the transmission guy look at it and get back to us. I read hundreds of complaints on your site and the majority of them are describing problems that are very similar over the last 3 years. Don't you have enough complaints on this that Chrysler should be doing a recall? after all the government is now deeply invested in Chrysler.

The contact took the vehicle to the dealer but the dealer could not duplicate the problem. The contact stated that the turn signals were also defective. The contact replaced the battery but the replacement only remedied the issue temporarily. The failure mileage was 52,000.

'06 Jeep Commander 4x2 - (1) stalls intermittently during turns which are both from moving and stopped positions. Many have occurred during a u-turn from a stopped position - unable to duplicate, in shop again (2) has a rough idle, which at times is more severe than others, but has never died - has just shaken severely a few times. There is no set pattern. It occurs during cold and hot weather, with electrical devices on or off, in park/neutral/drive, if the engine has warmed up or is still cold (3) the original windshield - continuous rock chips, cracks, etc - replaced @ 11,000k with a non-Jeep brand glass and to date the new windshield has only 1 star chip. Have heard the design of the windshield is reason for the windshield breaking easily, but the glass is not sufficient/durable (4) transmission fluid leaking from o-rings - replaced (5) rear spring seats squeaking - insulators replaced (6) excessive wind noise from front passenger side - at 22,500k dealership said only normal wind buff, at 24,000k dealership said unsure where it's coming from but will reseal front windshield (7) front driver window made grinding noise - motor replaced (8) short in audio/speaker system - radio assembly replaced (9) front driver power lock motor whining during autolock in cold weather (10) back up sensor doesn't sound until 1' before object (11) alert to check reverse sensor and wouldn't start- towed,battery replaced (12) middle seats hard to fold up (13) front windows go down instead of up(14)vehicle hesitates when put in drive/ reverse (15) steering whines.
