Driving down a residential street and all of a sudden my airbag light comes on and makes a chime noise. Now it does it off and on the whole time it is being driven. Also if your sitting steal and you turn the steering wheel it will do it as well. I'm thinking it may be due to the clockspring.

We have replaced the fuel pump 3 times. This last time it still does not start. The fuel pump is getting power, we traced the power all the way back to the fuel pump and it is getting power but it is not kicking on. We have been searching for wiring diagrams to trace the lines but no avail. If we get it to run if it gets shut off we cannot get it to restart sometimes for days. We have disconnected the battery at times and it will start for a time or two but it goes back to not starting again. With the air bag, the airbag light has come on in the dash and does not go out.
The airbag light is on and after taking it to the mechanic, I was informed that it will not release in the event of an accident. I searched for a recall as the mechanic suggested and found nothing. Since I have never been in an accident that would set the airbag off, I do not understand why the light is on. The lights on the dashboard, interior lights, autostart, heated seats, rear sensors, and anti skid have all stopped working. Although my car is 9 years old, it has less than 60,000 miles and is well cared for. The mechanic has informed me that I have a faulty board. Faulty sounds like something Jeep should be paying for not me. Bubbling of paint on the hood of the truck and its spreading. Again, all these issues should be covered by Jeep. These issues are the result of poor or faulty manufacturing processes and should not be visited upon the consumer.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. While driving approximately 60 mph, the passenger side air bags deployed without warning or impact. An abnormal sound was heard and the air bag indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where pictures were taken; however, it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the contact would have to wait for a safety investigator. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 173,000.

The vehicle has been showing the airbag light since I purchased it. First they replaced the seat belt tensioner trying to guess problem but it did not fix it but it went away for a while. Now they believe they found true problem and it's the clock spring. I believe the item was defective since new purchase and now it completely go bad. I have no airbags and I'm driving around bad because Jeep installed a defective clock spring on my 08 Jeep. They have a recall on 07 Jeeps but my 08 is not part of it. Hopefully you can add our 08 Jeeps Commander to that list.
Air bag light began coming on and off intermittently, whether driving or stationary, eventually staying on most of the time. Periodically while driving it would go off them immediately come on and chime. Took to a Chrysler dealer and was advised the clock spring in the steering wheel needed to be replaced as it was faulty and would not deploy the air bag if involved in a crash. Researched the issue and found several other complaints for this model as well as recalls for 2007 to 2010 Jeep wranglers which have the same steering system. Clock spring was subsequently replaced by dealer for a significant cost, correcting the problem.

While driving noticed windows, sunroof, radio, seats, air conditioning systems where not operating at all. Then airbag light came on, along with service four wheel drive system warning indicator came on. Tried restarting and resetting systems but had no luck. Had a friend bring other key fob and all systems but four wheel drive were normal for remainder of fifteen mile trip. Upon notifying dealership about recall notice received for transfer case programming. They assured my family it would solve all problems. Being an honest mechanic that I am, I took there word. Two weeks later same problems and was getting worse fuel mileage then before programming. (6 mpg less) I had to leave work to take Commander back to dealership. They said programming didn't program. After leaving returned to work and decided to test four wheel drive. Same results, service four wheel system light and four low didn't work. Returned third time four low worked for one week but radio completely stopped producing sound. Now they say I'm out of my ten thousand mile programming warranty. I would rather have old programming back at least then I could use four low and it didn't shift into neutral when I let off throttle. Very worried about families safety. Please help.
On 2/11/14 took vehicle into the Chrysler dealership because of the starter motor not working properly and it had turned off while I was driving on several occasions. They had to replace the starter motor and I had to pay for it. After this the air bag light went on and I would think this is a safety issue and I should not had to pay for any of this. But I did. They told me they had to replace a short in the harness part #5143387aa. Also, the said the driver seat belt was causing air bag light to go on. This was a defect. I believe that if these are recalls and safety issues from Chrysler and I had to pay for them I would think that Chrysler should reimburse me for taking care of these problems before something bad really happened. I am always maintaining my vehicle and I am very glad that I have taken care of these problems. I would appreciate a email back and hopefully a refund for paying for something that should have been a recall. I have all of my records and receipts if you need copies. Thank you.
I bought my 2008 Jeep Commander 4x4 with v8 4. 7l, quadra track ii on 8/1/2013. Atp I was told there was a recall on ______________. I service appointment was made and the care was repaired. I soon called the repair shop back and complained of the airbag light being on intermittently, 4x4 service light and parking and brake lights also working intermittently. I was told that these issues were not park of the recall they repaired and to call the dealer I bought the car from. I called automation and was told that my complaints were not in the recall and or under a warranty with them and to pay for a service appointment. I could not afford the services so no go. I still have these issues off and on and just got a service repair recall notice in 9/2010. Like all the others I'm still risking everything ecah time I drive the only car we own as a family and an waiting for chryler to make the part available and pray I don't hurt myself my family or another driver, if the system decides to completely fail. Come on get your shit together we need parts and a fix ASAP!!!1.
The airbag sensor for the 2006 Jeep Commanders seems to be a prevalent issue. After doing a web search the issue seems to be predominantly with 2006 Jeep Commanders. The dash airbag light comes in because of a sensor issue. This is irrespective of mileage. Individuals have complained about this issue when the Jeep was as little as a year old.

October 2008 we purchased a Jeep Commander with warranty from carmax modesto, CA. A number of weeks later the airbag light came on and went off, came back on etc. We took it to car max and made inquiries as to trading it in. During the inspection we were told that they couldn't take it back as there was a problem with the transmission the repair it materialized that the windscreen had been damaged and replaced with all of its wiring etc cut and not replace/repaired at carmax roseville, CA before it was sold to us car max told us this themselves. Jeep fixed the air bag & transmission but carmax insisted that they repair the windscreen, wipers, wiring etc. Before we had the opportunity to turn it in to repair the original repair job the airbag light came back on. 4 weeks ago car max modesto was in receipt of our vehicle and it has yet to be fixed. They couldn't fix it and sent it to Jeep. Jeep couldn't fix it so they contacted Chrysler. We asked them to take back this vehicle; they refused to. When they learned from Jeep & Chrysler that the repair would cost them $6,000 earlier this week they then decided to consider our request. They decided not to. It has taken nearly 4 weeks to find a way to repair the vehicle as the parts required to complete the job are no longer being produced. But apparently they have come up with a way to work around this! our complaint is 1)unethical sales practices I. E. The sale of a faulty vehicle and the assurances from the sales associate with whom we worked that no work of any significance had been conducted on this vehicle even though it had been worked on by carmax. By their own admission it was sold to us faulty 2) they deem it appropriate to return a vehicle to a family of 4 when its airbag functionality is questionable 3) ineffective post purchase care.
