Car Will Not Start Problems of Jeep Compass

Car needed a new engine about 2 months ago for burning oil. During this time I stalled on a busy road and someone almost hit me. Last week I was in florida and my car would not start, it then started smoking underneath and a small fire was started. The car was towed to Chrysler dealership and is currently still there with an Chrysler engineer coming to inspect what happened. I have attached a copy of the text message exchange with Chrysler dealership in florida to describe the issue. The what sounds like an electrical fire occurred on 2/6/21. The engine was replaced about 2 months ago. This car is extremely unsafe.

My vehicle will not start on the first try have to try about 7 times. The radio has stopped working, and I keep getting random error messages popping up on my screen.

Without any warnings, I was getting ready to leave for the day and my car would not start. The car attempts to turn on but it won't turn over. I thought it was the battery but it's not. My car was parked when this event occurred,.

Leased this car brand new. At 60 miles on odometer, went to start car, car turned started but then stalled/turned off instantly. Had to wait a few minutes to start again. At 250 miles car came to brief stop on slight incline while waiting for a parking gate to open, parking gate opened and vehicle was starting to roll with the car off, I released my foot from the brake but the car wouldn't start it stalled. I pushed the brakes back to stop my car. Car was still in drive, I tried to re-start my car by hitting the push button , car wouldn't turn over. Eventually was able to restart after 60 minutes. This is an extreme safety hazard, I am lucky this didn't happen at a busy intersection.

This car shut off a red light at busy intersection because of the start/stop technology. When the light changed and I took my foot off the brake, the car did not restart. It did not restart when I pressed the gas either. I had to put the car in park and press the start button twice to get it to come back on. This very unsafe and should not happen on a car with less than 400 miles total on it.

Vehicle will without warning stall in the middle of driving, in city traffic, on country roads, starting up a hill as well as driving on flat straight road. I've been driving 55mph, 45 mph 25 mph and it will stall, the traction control light will come on. Sometimes the car will not restart for 10+ minutes after stalling. Each time I was driving in traffic, and had children in the vehicle with people behind me. Engine just cuts all power, power steering is lost. Also have noticed a huge drop in fuel efficiency, used about 1/4 of a tank in 30 miles, acceleration and vehicle not shifting normally. This is the 6th time in two weeks it has stalled, and 2nd time to take it into the dealership with this issue. I've only had about 6 months, it was cpo and have driven it about 10,000 miles.

My 2018 Jeep Compass has had both key fobs die within 2 years of purchase of the vehicle. The most concerning thing is that my vehicle will start and I can drive and then my car will say �key fob not detected� and I can no longer drive my vehicle. This is a great feature if someone where trying to drive away with my car, however I am driving my car and I have they keys inside. This happens more frequently in the winter months than the summer. It appears as though the winter cold causes the battery of the key fob to drain or not work properly. My car will not start or unlock, then once I am able to unlock the vehicle it has a difficult time detecting the key fob (even when following instruction manual shot a dead fob). The vehicle will eventually detect the fob and start. Then on my drive the key fob needs to be on the dash next to the start engine button so I can drive and even then it can result in not being detected and stalling the vehicle. I find this a very concerning issue.

Tl-the contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that there were several issues while attempting to use the auto start feature, the keyfob was depressed however, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated also the auto stop light remained illuminated even with the feature set to off. The contact also stated there was coolant leak in the vehicle. The emergency brake warning light was also illuminated while the vehicle was being driven. The contact was also concerned about the auto headlamp being illuminated. The contact also stated that using the remote start feature in cold weather, the heated seats was not activated and also that the defrost would not be activated. The contact was concerned also that the cold air from the air condition unit would be activated. The vehicle was taken to griffin motor company located at 11031 perry hwy, meadville, PA 16335, (814)336-2161 to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there was no evidence of a coolant leak. The mechanic was also able to use the remote start to start the vehicle. There was no repairs performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted or informed of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 7,500. Ah.

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning while in traffic. The vehicle was able to coast to the side of the road. The contact attempted to restart the engine but it failed to start. The contact also stated that the failure recurred three times. The vehicle was towed to the contact residence and was later taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the failure code pcm cu10001 was not receiving connection. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in recall and did not offer further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000. Aw.

The vehicle has been in motion every occurrence and happened on a highway. The Jeep has shut off while I was driving. I had the automatic off turned off and when I stopped at a stop light the Jeep powered down, dash and lights went crazy, and my Jeep would not start back up. It took over 5 minutes to get the Jeep to come back on. There is also a popping noise and a very hard shift at times. When this hard shift occurs it pulls my Jeep to the right, I have had it in the shop several times this year and they cannot figure out the problem. They thought changing my shocks would help but it has not. There is still a popping sound when I hit a certain speed and then it is still shifting extremely hard randomly and jerks the whole Jeep when it happens. It has almost caused me to wreck a couple times especially when I am in a right handed curve and this occurs; it caused me to go off road when I took a right handed curve and it occurred. This has been happening since April 2018, and I have had it in the shop several times. This has been an ongoing thing now I do not have the files with me today at work, but I do have them at home. I can upload the documentation at a later date. Unsure of exact date.

Have initiation switch problems. The engine will need catch when the steering wheel isn't perfectly straight while the vehicle is in park. I can shift to other gears from , park but the engine will not start. If the steering wheel is straight, I have no problems.

My vehicle started losing power intermittently. It would remain running, but would not respond to acceleration and the electronic throttle control light would flash. At first, this was an intermittent problem, solved by pulling over to the side of the road, turning the car off and restarting it. Eventually, this became an everyday occurrence, until eventually, the car would not even start due to this problem. I had to have it towed to the dealership, and they replaced the throttle body assembly, which solved the problem. I have noticed several recalls for this exact problem for my year and make and model, but the database states that my VIN number was not included in the recall. This is a safety issue, as I have had to pull over on the side of the road several times in fast-moving traffic on narrow shoulders.

My 2011 Jeep Compass that I bought new for $23,000. 00 has 56,000 miles and would'nt start. It is not reliable. Many times I had a loss of power. Had it towed to the dealership and they charged me $900. 00 to fix it. They said I needed a new totally intergrated power module. They said that my computer wasn't telling the engine to start and that was why all the lights were on in the dash but the car wouldn't start and that was also why I had a total loss of power. I spent the money to fix it at the dealership. Not a week later I had the same problem!! I just spent $900. 00 to fix 3 yr old Jeep that I bought new foe 23 grand, so I would have something reliable for my 20 yr old daughter to drive while she was away at college and all that money was for nothing as my kid has a piece of junk that breaks down all the time. I looked online and saw all the problems that people are having with their Jeeps. And saw how chyrlser still hasn't done a recall. Please look into this. I lost alot of money on a car that is worthless I cannot have my daughter drive an unsafe car. I will have to sell it. Please look into this ASAP. I parked my Jeep Compass to pick up my son at school, then when I returned and try to start the engine, the vehicle could not start, the engine died. I called the crane and they towed my vehicle to the Chrysler agency in ciudad del carmen, campeche, mexico and that was received on 12-July-2012. The agency respond to me that the fail was in the (integrated power module = ipm) and require 15 days for ask the part to the plant and time to repair the vehicle. I am reporting this situation, because the vehicle was manufactured in united states of America and to me is critical because this failure occurred without warning and the vehicle the vehicle would not start, the engine practically died, as the (ipm - integrated power module) fails and did not send voltage to the pump gas and therefore not ignited the vehicle. I believe that this failure is critical because it could have happened in a place where it could put passengers at risk, if it occurs on the road or in a place away from the population, leaving helpless passengers. Maybe you can investigate more and verify what happen, and alert the other users and owners of Jeep Compass 2012. To avoid put in risk the owners and the passengers and the users.
