Ignition Switch Problems of Jeep Compass

12-29-19 vehicle stalls while driving. Changed oil as tech states that it is normal for a call to stall while driving if it is under the recommended oil level. 1-7-2020 vehicle stalls at stoplight. 1-9-2020 Jeep changes out ignition switch. 1-10-2020 pu vehicle auto start stop would not engage. Went back to Jeep. Could not recreate the problem. 1-10-2020 auto start stop malfunction. 1-11-2020 went back to Jeep could not recreate the problem bring back in on Monday. 1-13-2020 car turns off by itself while at stoplight. 9:57 auto start stop malfunction red light blinking on dash. 1-17-2020 pu car mileage 24190 stop start unavailable services top start system at 24193. 1-18-2020 car stalls again while driving.

Believed to be a faulty ignition switch. Dashboard lights will flash on and off, rpms, speedometer, etc. Will drop to zero, after returning to normal, airbag light will stay illuminated. Key doesn't always read to unlock. Has a couple instances where key would turn and click but car wouldn't turn on when wheel wasn't completely straight.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Compass. The contact's vehicle has been in the shop four times for the same failure. The failure began ever since the vehicle was purchased. While driving 35 mph, the engine rpm's increased to 6,000 and then the vehicle shut off. She restarted the vehicle and drove to the repair shop. The mechanic could not find any failure with the vehicle. The contact and two mechanics test drove the vehicle and the engine increased to 6,000 rpm's again. The mechanics downloaded and rebooted the electrical system, however, the failure recurred. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the ignition switch. The failure has recurred one week ago. She called daimler Chrysler and they informed her to take the vehicle to another dealer. The contact is afraid to drive the vehicle, therefore it was towed and currently remains at the dealer. The current and failure mileages were 10,300.
