7 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 12/01/2008

My airbag sensor light started coming off and on as I was driving in December of 2008. I took the car in to the dealer and was told the problem was fixed by the dealer. Like clockwork in the winter of 2009 and continuing until today the light is coming off and on constantly (every 3-10 miles). There is no rhyme or reason to it, I can be accelerating, decelerating, at a complete stop etc. Besides being annoying I have read that other customers have had the same problem with their Jeeps. I have asked Jeep customer service to replace the part at no cost to me since I am no longer under warranty but they told me they are unable to do that, and I am unable to afford the $300+ part they need to "fix" this problem once again.

8 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Jeep Compass

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Compass fwd. On June 19, 2007, after coming to a stop, the contact accelerated and the vehicle stalled. The check oil light illuminated. She was able to immediately restart the vehicle. She went to the dealer to have the vehicle checked, but they stated that the vehicle was fine. The vehicle's computer lost its programming when she stopped to put gas in the vehicle. The contact also stated that the passenger side air bag light illuminated, as if the air bag was not working. The mechanic advised her not to put her purse on the seat because it may cause the air bag sensor to deprogram itself. The current mileage is 17,200 and failure mileage was 17,150.
