Three problems related to automatic transmission cooler have been reported for the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Transmission has a water cooling system to prevent overheating. The part where the water enters the transmission is defective and allowed water into the transmission causing immediate failure.
Transmission fluid line leak.
Transmission leak due to improper installment of connector hose to the radiator.
