Engine problems of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Engine problem

While driving at 60 mph the consumer heard a loud bang and saw black smoke coming from the engine compartment. The consumer blindly pulled over to the shoulder and called the fire department. The front end was consumed by the fire, but no injuries were reported.

2 Engine problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2001

The vehicle failed in fairborn, ohio. The vehicle was towed to two different Jeep garages prior to being diagnosed as a failure of the cam sensor gears. The tech assigned to evalulate the problem indicated this is the second failure of this type he has seen in two weeks. This failure causes you to lose all engine power, ie power steering and power braking!. The dealership also indicated that the parts needed for this repair are on a "national backorder" and it could take 1 week or more to obtain the repair parts.

3 Engine problem

Failure Date: 01/01/1901

Consumer complained about an engine problem. While driving on the freeway at approximately 70 mph vehicle abruptly lost power. Also,transmission failed when vehicle had only 30,000 miles on it. Crankshaft broke at 60,000 miles.
