Pcm has been replacement multiple times by different repair shop. When computer fails it has failed a circuit with 02 sensors which kills engine power randomly while driving on highways. It has turned abs light on and service 4x4 randomly and won’t let the vehicle travel over 10mph. Very dangerous on roads. I’ve had three computers installed in the last year and a half and have given me 3 close calls almost causing accident. That’s 3 too many. I’m not the only one with the computer issues ask around to owners with these Jeeps. How many close called does someone need for Chrysler to not even repair but just to look into. Do people need to die in an accident for people to take this seriously. The issue is not from lack of maintenance either. If my abs module was failed I would no. My vehicle has a 115,000miles on it and when this dangerous intermittent issues occur there are no dtc codes stored. This is a total epic failure done by Chrysler. If they don’t find something soon about theses vehicles. I will be sure never to by another Jeep product. I don’t drive this vehicle unless I’m alone never-mind one of my niece or nephews with me in this death trap I’ve learned my lesson on this one Chrysler please help NHTSA!!.
Ecm was not functioning properly. Connections were failing. Due to this engine power was lost while running. At times would just shut off. Vehicle was stationary at time of wiggling pcm but don't want to find out if this would happen if I hit a rough spot on the highway going 75. Problem is manufacturer is not producing these computers anymore and can't find one anywhere, also can't be repaired.
While driving the vehicle I receive a message on the info center displaying "transmission over temp" the fan kicks on high and the vehicle will not go faster than 25mph. I have to pull over, turn the vehicle off, wait 30 seconds, turn it back on and it goes away. Had my vehicle at the transmission shop and had it thoroughly looked through and the pcm is to blame. It is very common on these vehicles. I feel it is a saftey concern due to the "transmission over temp" displaying every couple of miles as I drive. Calling Chrysler directly to ask of the problem and they were very rude and hung up on me. Not happy!!.
My Jeep transmission is defective and keeps blowing filter off or splitting them. . . When this happens I am traveling down the road at 60 mph. . My vehicle jolts as if I have slammed the gears in park. . . This could result in major injury if the wheels lock while im going that rate of speed. . . After extensive research online I have found that many consumers who have 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee are having the same problem however the dealerships seem to deny the fact that there is an issue with the components of the transmission. . . I have found many consumers have had issues with the transmission control module, shift solenoid, and the filters for the transmission. . This has been a ongoing issue and I am surprised that this has not been recalled. . . This can happen at any time. . . While driving down the road. . . Or pulling out in front of traffic. . . . I am worried that I will crash or someone else will crash into me in the event that my transmission fails again. . . I have had it repaired 6 times over 3 years now for the same issue and no longer feel safe while driving. . . I would like to have this matter investigated with Chrysler, llc so that they may recall the products and take the time to repair these defective transmission components. .
We own a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When the vehicle was 2 years old and at 35,000 miles the check engine light came on indicating the transmission control module. This was replaced under warranty. My husband was kind of concerned that they had the part in stock for a two year old vehicle but we had it fixed and went on. Now it is three years later at 89,000 miles and the same part needs to be replaced. They want us to pay 750 to have it replaced. We filed a case with Chrysler and they want us to have it diagnosed for 89. 00 at their dealer and then they will discuss whether they will help pay for it or not. There are many other people on the web that have had the same issues. Our car will light up all the gears when you are driving down the road and will not shift properly due to the engine not understanding what gear we are in. I do not want to have to worry that they fixed it and helped us this time but in 2-3 years we have to do this all over again for the same part. The gentleman my husband first talked to at the dealer we consulted before talking with Chrysler stated that he has also replaced this same piece in his Chrysler 300 twice. I have also seen on the car forums that the Jeep commander is doing the same thing and there are numerous complaints out there about the 05 Jeep cherokee. I would like to know why Chrysler continues to put this part that is obviously not working in their vehicles. This is causing issues for the cars and I am not convinced I want another Chrysler product. The gear shift should not be having parts replaced. I have been around many vehicles and never had this type of problem. I do not understand why a recall or something hasn't been done on this particular part. Why would they not find a new way to do this type of gear shift that doesn't fall apart in two years of driving. This is a family vehicle. This is not a race car or even a 4wd. I just want to get help in case others are still dealing with this.
: the contact stated that the automatic brake module light on the dashboard illuminated causing the vehicle to be locked in park. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who can not find the cause of the problem.
Our 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited gets stuck in 3rd gea and will not shift. It has 12,000 miles and has been in the shop 4 times for the same problem. It is very dangerous because the car will not accelerate in an intersetion and cannot move out of the way of traffic on the highway. The local Chrysler service manger in san rafael has told us that he cannot solve the problem and that the Chrysler regional manager has not responed to him or to us. The folks at Chrysler's 800 numer has told us that they cannot help us and referred us to the dealer.
