A few weeks/months after the purchase of my Jeep about 2 years ago, I noticed that my cruise control had stopped working and the abs light had come. I checked my fuses and relays and they were ok. Then a day or so later I was driving on the interstate and my check engine light and my brake lights came on. My Jeep then seemed to downshifted itself. It felt as if the transmission had locked up, it slowed to about 30mph and would not shift onto another gear. I pulled over killed the motor. After a few attempts to drive it, I turned the key over and noticed the break and engine lights were off so I attempted to drive home and was sucessfull. This started to happen more and more often. I noticed that it mainly happened when either I was running my ac or it was wet/raining outside. I then started researching Jeep problems and recalls. I came across the daminoncrysler recall no. 13. The recall had described the issue I was having, so I researched my VIN and it staled that the recall no. 13 has already been completed on Jeep. Now my Jeep is stuck in limp mode and will not reset. It will not shift and the abs, brake and engine lights stay on. Is there a way to find out exactly what service did they did when it was recalled in 2005 (if any)? I dont know what to do.
I am getting a check engine light about the vehicle selector module it also has on many occasions no engages into gear like it was stuck in neutral even when the shifter is moved back and forth now it seems to not engage into gear for some time and at first start of take off seems to not be fully engaged I saw a recall about the control module already but when I went to the Chrysler site and plug in my VIN it doesn't show any recalls.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received NHTSA recall campaign number 13v175000 (electrical system , power train). The vehicle was taken to the dealer who reprogrammed the final drive controller module and performed the recall repair; however, the remedy lasted two weeks. The service all wheel drive system warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle would not shift into neutral. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that failure was an electrical surge that did not allow the gear shift to function properly. The dealer reprogrammed the computer software for the shifting mechanism. The failure recurred approximately eight times since the software was reprogrammed. The vehicle was being towed on a mobile home; however, the gear shift would get stuck in low shift and failed to shift into neutral gear. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55493. Rk.
The contact purchased a 2005, Jeep Chrysler cherokee ,and before it had 5,000 miles on it they had to put in a new transmission . It was not changing gears properly, and there was a smell coming from the car like plastic burning. She noticed this from the time she bought the vehicle. On 8-2-05 she took vehicle to dealer for an oil change. When she drove it home it started to shake very badly. She took it back to the dealer, and they told her they had to flush her transmission 4 times because it had water in it. Also, the air conditioner (ac) hose was leaking into the transmission. They were waiting on the parts to come in to fix it. Chrysler told her they could not authorize a rental/loaner car to drive.
