1. Engine over heating problems numerous times and coolant leak. Even after replacement of radiator and hoses. 2. Went to pick up Jeep from mechanic due to oil leak, when they brought it around, I noticed pink fluid dripping. Had transmission serviced in March/April 2020 due to a leak. , flushed system, new filters and fluid. Last few months vehicle says "transmission over temp" a few times. Replaced transmission pan, due to a leak, new fluid added, in September 2022. Vehicle indicated "transmission over temp" a few weeks later. Didn't drive it a few days, haven't seen the warning sign yet. 3. Numerous oil leaks. Serpitean belt replaced along with other repairs. 4. When I bought vehicle, it had no heat and coolant was leaking in on passenger side floor. 5. Jeep shifts to 3rd gear and won't shift down or back into drive until I turn off vehicle and back on. Very dangerous I was a busy road, us 41 heading north, and had to pull over.
My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo (3. 7 liter v6) has about 78,500 miles. In 2018 my Jeep had an engine service soon light incident. I had the obdii read by oreilly auto parts for the failure codes. The codes downloaded were u0404 & p0700. I went to my mechanic and he stated, drive it for a while and it should go away, he was right - the failure code (dash light) went away. Now, Feb. 7, 2020 my engine service light went on. Again I went to oreilly auto part to have the obdii error codes read. Again, the error codes came up u0404 & p0700. I did some research (on the web) and found a youtube video that addressed these two exact failure codes. Please see the youtube video, web address, below that explains the failure and repair. Https://m. Youtube. Com/watch?v=yd71knuo2au this video clearly shows the reason for these two error codes. The shifting console printed circuit board (pcb) has allowed (over time) the transfer of material between the different drive selection points (drive, reverse, park) on the pcb to be short circuited (bridged) causing a false signal to the other control devices. This is not listed as a serviceable item by Jeep. As a result Jeep is responsible for this failure because they do not state that this is a service preventable failure. Thank you for considering my complaint.
Tl the contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 40 mph and exiting a freeway, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle failed to exceed 15 mph. The contact veered to the shoulder of the road and managed to drive at low speeds to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle, but was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to jim koestner inc (218 n main st, plainwell, mi 49080, (269) 685-6854) to be diagnosed again, but the failure could not be duplicated. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 13v175000 (power train, electrical system). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 131,000.

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle would not start. Once the contact was able to start the vehicle, the vehicle's engine revved and surged on its own and once the contact put the vehicle into drive, the vehicle surged forward on its own. The contact had to place the vehicle into neutral in order to regain control of the vehicle. Once the contact turned the vehicle off and restarted it, the vehicle resumed normal driving. The contact stated that the same failure occurred again while traveling on the highway at 50 mph. Fortunately, the contact was able to gain control of the vehicle to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated on the vehicle at the time of failures; however, he stated that that warning light was in relation to another matter. The contact works as a mechanic for a living so he had not taken the vehicle to be serviced. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 140,663. Jo.
When driving or sitting stationary all lights and gauges go out on the dash board. Was told it was the ignition switch. I had the ignition switch recall performed. Vehicle still randomly has the same issue. Fm radio very bad reception. Numerous postings on internet about both of these issues.

Its all on city streets when I'm driving the abs lights come on and my engine lights comes on and off I have to shut the car off and restart it then it says everything is ok. When I come to a stop light and stop it dies but starts right back up.
Automatic transmission contamination caused from rain water or ac condensation dripping directly on to transmission dipstick tube . During times of heavy rainfall, contaminated transmission fluid will overflow and puddle underneath the vehicle. Transmission fluid has been analyzed at blackstone laboratories and provided results showing h2o being present in the fluid, with no traces of engine coolant. Transmission shutters and shifts hard, reaches excessive temperatures under moderate loads. Dealership and independent transmission shop both have acknowledged an issue with the transmission and a water contamination.
Will go into 3rd gear when it is started and has to be turned off and restarted before it will go into drive. Also it shows a code of " service 4x drive" at random times.

Ok I'm fully aware my vehicle is under 3 recalls well technically speaking 2 cause ones a recall on the recall waiting for that recall to be recalled. This whole process is insane my vehicle has turned off while driving has unparked itself shifted on its own had the lights flicker I have even been pulled over mutiple times for these problems twice when the Jeep decided it was gonna stop accelerating 3 times because the lights start flickering sometime just inside sometimes just the outside and most recently all the lights just stopped working vehicle still running made it about 10 feet after the lights went out and sure enough before I could even pull of tbe road blue lights I've had the vehicle less then 60 days it's stalled while sitting still it's stalled while driving it's shut off while idle and while driving. Its shifted on its own while driving and idle most recently I was checking the transmission fluid with the car in park in my driveway the support arms are dead so I used my handy dandy block o wood to hold it open well I pull the dipstick from the transmisson it was a little low so I turn around to grab my funnel and a bottle of fluid and I before I can even turn all the way around my parked car is rolling towards me and so I didnt get pinned between my Jeep and my shed I tired to step into the vehicle to prevent my legs from getting stuck well I'm pretty tall and my head hit he hood witch lifted it slightly and my block o wood fell out witch lead to the hood pushing my face into the running car luckily a busted flip and a slight burn to my neck was all that happened now I understand that a block o wood is not standard safety equipment and I understand that a car rolling in netural a couple feet will more then likely not pin anyone but all I knew was the parked car was moving I didn't know if it was gonna speed up or what I need more room.
September/October of 2017 as I was driving home on the parkway my vehicle was not picking up speed. No power so had to pull over to the side of road and the drove to pep boys to have the mechanics take a look at it. Was in the shop for about a week.
Been waiting sometime for the dealer to get his part for my recall in addition to this the transmission seems to be smoking and the motor is running erratic I believe this is a big piece of junk and government should buy back. The Jeep was a biggest lemon ever. Was driving it from yogurtland was driving it from yogurtland only a few miles away on the way back it was smoking like a freight train the tranny was slipping in the motor is running erratic.
I stop the transmission start like slide and then 3 to four minutes a lot of smoke on my hood I stop open the hood it was oil everyware I was scare I think my charokee got flames so run to a house.
I took Jeep in for recall n23 and they flashed it. After I picked it up the service 4wd drive code keeps popping up. 4x4 does not kick in. Unless I remove the fed myself fuse and put back in then it will work. But after a while 4wd service turns on again.
While driving my Jeep randomly shifts into neutral so I need to pull off the road and put into park then back into gear, and I just got a recall notice for the ignition switch.
2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Seems to be there's electrical issue all the dash lights would turn on turn off happened while I was driving on the freeway and had to come to a stop it stalled out it happened when I started up the car and I turned it off and took it to the shop two different times pretty much the same problem first time it has 68 codes reading off of it so they replace my battery the second time the lights will come on and go off and come on and then it wouldn't even go it was undriveable at that point so we took it to the shop and then a month later it's starting all over again I was driving down the road came to a stop light plied the brakes and then all of the sudden the gauges were going crazy. The idol was moving up and down the lights would come on and go off and it's all the lights not just air bag or anything like that it was all the lights. I read on the internet other people been having the same issue it's scary when somebody is explaining the same thing that's going on in your car. It is unknown at this time what this phantom problem is and it's highly dangerous. I also bought this Jeep used and don't know it this was happening beforehand. *have a video but this site won't upload it.

"unintended power roll-away in reverse after parking Jeep grande cherokee" 6cly. Vehicle engine running and in park. Driver opened door to exit and vehicle began to travel backward under power of engine on level surface. The open door knocked driver down on flat concrete carport and left front wheel ran over driver in the process. 76 yr old woman - breaking her legs and head injury. The event was witnessed by husband who jumped in car to stop it by cutting engine off and returning shift lever to park. Vehicle was stationary on flat concrete car port of home. My research took me to NHTSA odi resume ea0-017 opened 11-1-01. Vehicle was in recall until 2004 for the very problem describe above.
My Jeep jumps to third gear randomly, and it ends up jittering and shaking. My car got stuck so many times and ended up being stalled on a busy highway and almost got into an accident. I was once parked and had shifted to drive but instead the Jeep suddenly jumped to 3rd and my car started to go backwards and ended up hitting another car behind me. I had to pay the guy $500 and also got all the fluids and oils changed in hopes of getting this fixed, but to no avail. Yesterday, I spent $450 on these fluid and oil changes only to have the problem continue. Thousands of people are having the same issues and Jeep has no answers. You guys need to do a total vehicle recall since Jeep has no answers. Many people can die from this defect. I have a video to prove the car jumping to third and all the issues I just described.
"takata recall" I purchased a Jeep for 7,500. Put 3,000 down and financed the rest. Next day, the axle boot was broke. Took it back to the dealer and they replaced it. At that time, I realized they gave me a 29% finance rate. So I bought they vehcile right out by writing a check for $4890. With asking if the vehcile had any major issues or been in the shop for any serious engine or transmission work, I was promised the vehcile was in good standing condition. Next day, with my fiance and my 20 month old son in the newly purchased vehcile, headed out for a vacation. About 10 mins from our home and the axle they just replacedon't broke and the transmission went. The vehcile had no emergency brakes and no hear, not even park. I had to pull into a person's yard and do donuts until it stopped. Got it towed home and called the bank and cancelled the check. Now the have towed the vehcile away and say I write bad checks. Yet I have paperwork from the bank supporting my cancellation on the check and record of funds to purchase the vehcile. Seeking legal advice now. I did purchase "as is". . . . Yet, that doesn't uphold to fraud and warranty of mechanism on the vehcile.

Vehicle will not shift into correct gear when accelerating from a dead stop. Tops out at 3,000 rpms at 60mph. This is an intermittent problem. But will at least happen 2 times a day. When it happens you have to pull over and shut off the engine off and restart. This most likely will fix the problem. This is very dangerous when in traffic. This typically happens when you stop at a traffic light and start to take off. I had the censers changed in the transmission but didn't fix the problem. The vehicle has less than 100,000 miles on it. It is getting worse every day know.
