39 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2014

I have had issues with this vehicle recalls p73 and 41 for over a year. The truck has been sitting in my driveway for a year!!! I have notified Jeep numerous times, and yet the part has not been produced. I have been left with no car for 1 year. I have had to pay for uber, taxis, rentals, buses, trains, and have walked everywhere due to this recall. It has drained my battery. Jeep has not once compensated me. Every time I call, they say next month. This had been for one year now! the car lost power while driving on the interstate on 66, 395, and 495 interstates. What is it going to take for Jeep to do something? I had one rep said we'll reimburse me, how are you going to reimburse me, for a part that's not even in production. I reported this issue to the Jeep dealer where I reside last year about the lights flickering and the please fix the electrical brake system error, the refused , because they stated, they never saw it. I was told I can rent a car for them, on my own dime for 40. 00 a day!! I shouldn't have to when it's Jeep's recall. I have lost out on jobs, because of transportation. This is really serious.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2014

I bought my gd cherokee used with 71k miles. I just had my first oil change before heading out on a camping trip for the weekend. On the return trip, I had just turned onto the highway (55 mph zone). I am 6'4" tall. The previous owner was shorter than me. The seat was in the wrong position (I now know). While switching from gas pedal to brake pedal, my knee hit the key in the ignition. The car turned off. I immediately reached for the key and turned the car back on. It lunged the way a manual transmission dose when the clutch is let out too quick. I moved my seat back away from the wheel. Now I drive it from farther back, which means I need to sit up straighter, which means my head hits the ceiling often. I have the limited edition and I love everything about it except the seat can't go down far enough for me to drive it comfortable without turning the car off which has got to be horrible for the car.

47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2014

April 2014. Stopped at a store, went to leave and battery wouldn't turn over; 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo did this a couple more times leaving me stranded (just weeks after buying it) it seemed to fix itself after my mechanic cleaned battery post and re tightened cables. A couple of days ago vehicle started acting up again. Didn't want to start and when it did it would run great and all the sudden my traction control, brake lights, engine etc. . . (I think most the lights that come on in dash when you first start car). Then today. I was driving at 30mph when Jeep started cutting out; lights on dash would flash; clock would reset to 12; I'm trying to stop and my brakes are very stiff; power steering extremely stiff. A lady pushed me out of the road, I put car into park. She thought I needed to be pushed further but them the car would not come out of park. After waiting for over an hour for aaa to not show, another lady offered to try and jump Jeep. Jeep started right up. I had 10 miles to drive the whole time dash lights coming off and on; steering all but freezing up and brakes too. Before I left my spot just off the road that I had been pushed to , I tried several times to start Jeep. It wouldn't start wo assistance but I noticed everytime I cranked the key the clock radio did reset to 12. I'm hoping it's the ignition recap so I can get back to a safe vehicle for me and my toddler daughter very soon.

While departing philadelphia airport , entering ramp to access interstate 95, the vehicle lost all power, engine, power steering and brakes would not work. Head lights were still functioning. We physically pushed the vehicle off the highway, so other drivers and municipal bus drivers would stop screaming at us. The vehicle would not start. After calling the police and a tow truck, about 30 minutes later , the vehicle started. We had the vehicle towed to our home 100 miles away in new jersey. The vehicle would start and remain running for about 15 minutes, then would shut down again, same issues. Several sensor codes came up on a readout but nothing has been done to the vehicle. At this point it is functioning, but we are afraid to drive the vehicle. Any help or recall info on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

There has been many occasions upwards of 13 or 14 times where my vehicle will not start. My battery has a full charge, I have fuel in the tank it just wont start. The only way around this to get my vehicle to start is to do a hard reset and unhook the battery cable for 30 seconds and hook it back up then and only then will it start. Then it will start the next 15 or so times and then I have the same problem it wont start. Same deal, battery is great, fuel in the tank, just wont start.

The 3. 7l motor has blown a head. After researching online I see that this is a common problem for this motor but Jeep won't do anything or admit the problem. I spent over $20,000 on a american vehicle because I thought they were a trusted name. I should not be forced to spend $3000 getting a new motor because Jeep won't stand behind their product.

57 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2013

2005 Jeep has been slipping into neutral since February 2013. It caused me to have an accident because I couldnt get out of the way of rear-oncoming traffic. No major damage was done thankfully! a few weeks later I experienced a rollaway. I went into the sitter to pick up my son. After about 5 minutes of being inside I my Jeep roll across the street! I go running outside, opened the door and pulled up the emergency break. . . Just missing an embankment! since the "neutral" thing started I have had several service lights come on. My mechanic performed a diagnostic check and he said its all electrical. Also, ive had issues with the front passenger window going up/down slower than the rest of the windows since 3 months into purchase. Other issues are cracked door handles (both front doors), replacing taillight kit, ac switch-a few times as it would only work on high.

59 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2012

The vehicle will not idle when hitting the brakes at a stop sign or traffic light or coming to a complete stop resulting in a rear end collision. From the vehicle not maintaining a normal idle position. This is a danger to the vehicle occupants and anybody else on the road . Jeep is aware of the problems and have not come up with a solution for the customers. I have seen this same thing reported to the NHTSA onrecord a million times and will see this issue gets addressed if I have to call a senator that is a good friend of mine somebody is going to answer for this! to read the amount of complaints that have been reported to the NHTSA and nothing has been done is unacceptable and I can assure you the NHTSA better investigate this immediately. This pertains to Jeep Grand Cherokee 2005 v8 4. 7 liter motor found in 57% of all Jeeps that were built. You can go to youtube and see this in a video of this happening and its also on the Jeep forums web site posted a million times.

It went two months and is now doing the same again. Within a week, it has done it 3 times. Battery replaced and starter checks out fine. Also gauges dim and then come back on within seconds. 63 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

When turning the ignition key to the start position, you hear 1 "click" but the vehicle does not start. This is an intermittent event that seems to come and go every few months. When it happens, I have to leave the key in the on position for about 1 - 2 minutes, then attempt to start the engine again. I had previously had my vehicle serviced at the dealership for this problem, but since it is so random, the service personnel could not recreate the event. I even advised them that other owners, registering this same complaint, pointed to corroded solenoid wires as being the culprit. However, the service department had me purchase a new battery last year. This did not fix the condition which continues periodically to this very day. Unfortunately, the car has been unable to start at a few times when the surroundings were less than totally safe. . Read more...

64 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2011

I "recall" driving one evening on a major highway in my recently purchased 05 Grand Cherokee when suddenly I lost all power. I was traveling in a congested area at 65 mph with lots of semi's surrounding me. Thank the god's I happen to be on the perfect incline leading to an off ramp at the time of this engine power failure. I'd hate to imagine the out come had I been one lane over a few seconds prior! my son who was only 5 at the time was a bit freaked out from the whole ordeal. But my biggest complaint is the fact that I'm a Jeep girl and a faithful one but after my constant battle with this less then desirable hunk of junk I'm thinking of cheating with a Ford! after my daily failures with this thing I did some research and found that this vehicle far surpasses the two recalls in my short 3 years of ownership. I'm most upset with my dealership due to the fact they forgot to mention a few hundred drivers of this prior rental truck with an accident that was more than a skip over the curb. They offered but never made good on providing me with owners manual. . . Guess they were worried I would notice the past safety recalls that were never done. So I have had and continue to have every system malfunction on this heap known to mechanics. I'm sick and tired of paying for things that "jeeps are known for" when in truth its all been a result to the viscous cycle of recalls that were either never done or never the proper fix to begin with. So I beg the heads, money and engineers of Chrysler group llc to get your shit together and do the right thing by removing the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5. 7 liter with a hemi death trap off the roads! its quite obvious from the first recall only three months after its manufacturer date this truck was meant to fail. . . !!! so please stop the duct it fix it or f__k it!.

66 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2008

When slowing down approaching a hard stop, my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee ltd shuts off. This happens about once every six weeks. The dealer cannot figure out why it does this. I've narrowly avoided going over a hill, drifting back into cars behind me while stopping up a hill, and almost causing an accident in rush hour traffic. The dealer said unless the computer registers a code, there is no way they can fix. They refuse to send this up to the district manager for referral to chyrsler hq. I see on the internet there are numerous models encountering this issue.

68 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2007

Since 4/24/07, my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee will intermittently fail to start. This typically has happened after driving it throughout the day without incident. (only once did it happen early in the morning after sitting all night. ) for the first two failures, jumping the battery was successful. The third incident, where the jump didn't work, led to the battery being replaced, although the old battery was never diagnosed as faulty. When the car failed to start with the new battery, the keys were re-coded by a Jeep dealer. It then failed to start with the newly coded keys. The ignition was eliminated as a problem, and the starter was replaced (with an after-market product). When the car failed to start again, the starter was replaced a second time (with a Chrysler part) and the ignition once again was diagnosed as working. After the next failure to start, a temperature sensor in the transmission was replaced. When the car again failed to start, I was told the newly replaced temperature sensor was faulty, it was being replaced, and the car would be ready the next day. Now, three days after being told the car would be ready,I'm told that no one knows what the problem is, although the diagnostics now indicate there is a problem. I was told by the current Jeep dealer servicing it that no one could be consulted at Chrysler until the problem could be replicated. (although it is a timely process, the problem has been replicated while in repair. ) it is now August 3, 2007, and for the last 102 days my Grand Cherokee has been in and out of repair for weeks at a time. When I have had access to it, I have not been able to drive it with any confidence. The dealer (not a Jeep dealer) where I purchased this car has been loaning me vehicles and they have been exceptional in their concern, despite anyone's ability to resolve this. Their daily attention my faulty vehicle is the only reason, as a first-time Jeep Grand Cherokee owner, that I have been able to stay on the road today.
