I have been receiving recall notices from Chrysler since September 2014. I did everything the recall notice prompted me to do until the parts came in. I called the dealership 3 times over the last year to see if the parts came in. I really did not have any issues until August 3,2015. I was driving down the street and my car just turned off. I had no power steering but I was able to pull over with no problem and there was no traffic around me. I new it was the ignition switch issue so I called the dealer and they told me the parts for that recall are not available so there is nothing that can be done. This is my only form of transportation and I am a nursing student and can not afford to buy a new car. I have continued to drive it and on 3 separate occasions it has turned off while I was driving. Luckily I have either been in slower traffic or sitting at a stop light. This week on 3 occasions I went to start my car and it would not start. I called aaa but by the time they arrived it started again. The Jeep dealership told me I should not drive the car, I asked them if they could get a car for me to drive until the parts come in since this is a safety issue due to their recall and they said they could not do that. This is the only transportation I have. I go to school full time, am doing my clinicals and perceptorship at the hospital and work part time to pay my rent. I do not know what I am supposed to do if they do not have the parts to repair my car and this could be a life threatening problem. Yesterday (9/23/2015) I stopped by baxter Jeep in omaha, ne to see if they could get me in to check my car because it didn't start the first time I tried to start it that morning. They told me they couldn't get it in until October 7. I went to another auto repair servicer and they confirmed it was the ignition switch pertaining to the recall.

Approximately 9 months ago our grande cherokee began having random electrical issues. The first symptoms to appear were with the dash board panel and vehicle gages. Speedometer and rpm gage would bounce back and forth together from 0 to 75% back to zero. . . When the vehicle is experiencing these issues, the odometer does not record mileage. The door locks and front windows don't operate. The headlights will sporadically turn on and off without being in the vehicle. The stereo will shut down. Turn signals will "stick" if they are being used when vehicle has it's issue. Loss of power has also happened. On a few occasions, the vehicle would not start, one time for 3 days. Battery tested good at the shop. Without doing a thing, day #4 it started fine. When electrical system acts up loss of major control functionality occurs. Obvious results of that while driving 70 mph on the freeway don't need mentioning. Online complaints in the hundreds yet Jeep has "no clue"? unfortunately, this issue will ultimately cause loss of life if it hasn't already.
When I called the manufacturer this morning, Nov 19, 2014 (my car failed to start) regarding a recall notice, I was advised that I would have to pay for a "temporary fix" out of pocket because the recalled part was currently unavailable. No further recourse was addressed and since my car is intermittently starting and has occasionally stalled while driving, I am stuck driving a potential hazard, or being stranded without a vehicle at all, until replacement parts are made available to me. I have already replaced the faulty ignition part, at my own expense (more than $700) , in 2012 prior to the recall. Clearly even that part was a "temporary fix," though that was never communicated to me.
A year and a half ago I was on my way back home from a half an hour drive from town when I decided to stop at my parents house to get a drink. I wasn't inside for less then ten minutes, when I went to leave my Jeep would not start at all. After a half hour later looking everything over I did notice the fuel pump fuse was melted and blown. I was asked bye american Chevrolet dealership if I had something plugged into my cigeratte lighter that could of blown it. I've been a mechanic for 11 years now and I've never known to see the fuel pump fuse ran to other components meaning interior outlets. Now a half year later I have been having problems starting my Jeep at times and having no power to the motor at all. I want to get rid of this Jeep. Now I had a recall on the nutrual safety switch and just today I get another recall for the ignition switch. I keep having axel popping sounds out of the front passenger side and I'm fed up with this Jeep.
