1 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2013

Started truck shifted from park to drive. Started to drive, truck lurched forward and was unable to get it to speed over 20 mph. Tried pulling over and putting in park, still was unable to get truck to drive normally. Had same issue previously, had truck repaired was told that it was the electronic shift module - along with the battery, transmission control module and alternator - this seems to be a problem with this particular model - when will they recall this - do we need to wait for someone to get killed before some realizes there is a problem?.

2 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2010

Vehicle lost power (engine rpm went to idle) for no apparent reason while turning onto a multi-lane hwy and accelerating. Power was restored and vehicle accelerated normally. Vehicle "check engine" light illuminated. This has continued to occur several times in the last month. "check engine" code u0404 was verified through Jeep is the "tcm" transmission control module.

3 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2010

After being parked the Jeep would not start, code displayed in the dash stated transmission over temp, after sitting for about 30 more minutes the Jeep started - drove home and it would not start again - took it to a garage and they could not get the problem to replicate after having it for a week. July 5, 2011 - Jeep would not start again, transmission over temp code, still intermittent, after 2 weeks the garage replaced the transmission control module, August 6, 2012 - transmission over temp error code, this time it will not start after any pause in driving, had it towed to the dealer and they are saying its the starter (Jeep now has about 65,000 miles on it) - also had to replace the right front speed sensor (it is bad and causing the traction control system not to function properly). [additional notes: had to replace the esm at 28596 miles, Jeep loss of engine power and all lights lit up on gear shifter, at 27170 miles had to replace both front window regulators].

4 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2010

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4. While the contact was driving approximately 65 mph, the entire instrument panel illuminated intermittently. The vehicle suddenly began to decelerate. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing on two occasions for the similar failure. The technician stated the problem could possibly be contributed to the esm or either the pcm. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. The VIN was unavailable.

5 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2007

I recently leased a new 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3. 7 l , 6 cylinders. This was the second time in less than a month that the vehicle stalled while driving at highway speed 50 mph) and local speed 30 mph. The vehicle suddenly lost power and could not be driven at more than 20 mph, and the indicator gauges seem ed stuck in place. Also, the vehicle shut off when making a sharp turn into a parking space at work. The first incident occurred on a major highway in new york city ,and my fear was that another vehicle would rear end my vehicle. We had the vehicle towed to the original purchasing location at additional costs to us, and they stated that the problem was related to the shift controller, transmission not sending the proper signal for it to shift properly. They told us they would replace the solenoid, and it should be fine. This was less than a month ago, and now my wife was unwilling to drive the vehicle for fear of being stuck in traffic or being involved in an accident. I will be taking the vehicle back to the dealer on 7/9/07. Any additional information you could provide to address this problem was greatly appreciated. I will also contact daimler/Chrysler corporate headquarters in the morning.
