36 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2014

2007 Grand Cherokee repeatedly lost engine power, power steering and braking. Unclear on loss of airbags. Vehicle taken to bob caldwell Jeep dealership in columbus, OH. We were informed that no recall existed for that year/model. When we returned home we received notification for Chrysler regarding details of recall. Immediately called dealership and they were like "OH, that recall". They had given us a $4000 quote to repair the problem prior to our bringing the actual recall notification for Chrysler. Caldwell then told us that no part existed and they couldn't help us. Today I contacted Chrysler and received a reference #693786. It is supposed to track the non manufactured part when it actually ships at an unknown future date. Chrysler is not able to remedy this defect within a reasonable time. . At this point actually they cannot fix at any time as part does not exist. This situation puts my family at great risk. Chrysler states Jeep is safe to drive. . . Let's hope so for our sake.

38 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2014

I had received a notice in the mail regarding a recall on my Jeep. I have called multiple dealerships and have been told that the parts haven't even been distributed yet. When I called again recently I was told the parts weren't even made yet and to make sure nothing heavy was hanging from my keys. Use my car everyday and I'm concerned for my safety. There has been multiple times were the car has shut off on my and/ or has had no power to it when driving. I feel as though no one is helping us with this matter. 40 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

I was driving on route 50 going 65mph. This vehicle is a quad 4x4 automatic / stick shift manual, which was in my favor. When I realized the vehicle was shutting down I had to think quickly what my next steps would be. I started to get over to the right side of the road and brake, because the vehicle was shutting down the power brakes where going out and I could not brake completely. The vehicle was still moving and I was about 200 yards away from my exit and the side of the road was winding around toward the off ramp and getting smaller for me to drive on. I realized that I was not able stop the vehicle by using the floor brake then the fear factor set in. In my mind the only thing I can do is pull the stick shift handbrake and quickly put the vehicle in park then I was able to get control and safely stop the vehicle. This ordeal happened at 4:20pm yesterday and by the time we towed the vehicle back to the dealership and tried to explain to the general sales manager, si faige, on site at darcars in new carrollton, MD what all transpired on the road in the unsafe vehicle that they sold us, he didn¿t want to hear any of it.

42 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2014

In may of 2014 I replaced my starter because when I would attempt to start my vehicle it would crank but the engine would not turn over. The condition persisted even after putting on an new starter. I eventually went to a Jeep dealer and they were unable to remedy the problem. I received a recall notice from Chrysler about p41/NHTSA 14v-438 recall but was not given a time frame as to when I would be able to take the vehicle in for servicing. In the meantime I continue to drive the one vehicle and it has continued to not start in instances when I need it most. It has done so while my wife had the vehicle which has caused me great distress as she was alone and panicked when it happened. The vehicle does start eventually after about 20 minutes or so. This is unsafe and unacceptable. We spoke to a representative at the dealership where the vehicle was purchased and she told us she could not say when the part would be available. She went on to say we could wait it out or trade it in and basically tack on the amount owed on to the purchase of another vehicle. This is not an option. This situation is very inconvenient as I use the vehicle primarily to commute to work and if unable to drive to work our household income will take a huge blow. We seek remedy. Marc terameau.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2014

As I was driving the truck jerked real hard which almost knocked the wind out of me and I lost control of steering, speed, I was unable to start the truck. I had to make my way to the shoulder in morning traffic on the highway to put the car in park and turn the ignition off and start it over again I had to do this 2 times before it started. Proceeded to get back into traffic and it jerked again this time it stopped running and started clicking all by itself until I stopped the truck and turned it off and started it again. This is not the first time this has happened and it very dangerous and from the looks of things this is a ongoing problem with this model & year Jeep.

45 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2014

I took ownership of the vehicle in December 2013. While driving, the vehicle engine has suddenly shut down on three separate occasions. The first time was in January 2014 in heavy hyway traffic near colorado springs at about 50mph. I was able to move to the shoulder and turned the key off then restarted the engine. There seemed to be no adverse effects thereafter so I thought it was a randum event. Then one week later driving on a lightly trafficed hyway in wy at about 60mph, with the cruise control engaged, the engine again suddenly shut down and again I was able to steer to the shoulder and swithed the engnition off and then restart it. When I returned home I had my local mechanic check the vehicle over and had him check the computer for faults. After the checkup I thought the issue was settled. Then in March driving down a winding mountain road near boise id the engine again suddenly shut down and I steered to the road side where I swithed the engnition off and then restarted it. There after I read about this issue concerning some Jeep models. I put my VIN number in the Jeep website and it said there were no recalls for it. I will take it to the dealer in hopes there is a resolution for this seemingly cronic serious problem.

47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2013

I purchased my Jeep a little over a year ago used. I have had numerous problems since I have purchased it. First it was thought to be an electrical problem since the car would randomly shutter, would not want to start or just turned off. Battery was replaced multiple times, since it would leave stranded at any given time. The engine light comes on, but there has not been a solution to what it can be. I feel very unsafe in my car, and I am not sure what to do at this point. When I turn the car on, there is a loud hum or propelling sound coming out of the engine. When I come to a stop you can feel the car shake when the noise happens.

48 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Normal driving conditions on road and Jeep totally dies, no power at all, this has happened twice. Two other instances the Jeep loses power and slows down on the highway and in heavy traffic. I have contacted my Jeep dealer more than once, with no satisfaction.

49 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2013

While vehicle is in motion a front dashboard lights would flash for a while and suddenly goes dark including head lights and break lights. This is not in any coorelation with weather, temperature or road conditions. This has been happening randomly and due to safety concern we no longer use the vehicle for a family trip and we do not use the vehicle at night since all electrical components goes off while it is in motion. Per online search it appears there are numerous Jeep owners experiencing the similar malfunction. This is a very serious safety issue, so why the manufacturer has not issued a recall to have this repaired?.

52 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2013

While driving on rt 66 w in pw county va during rush hour traveling at 70+ mph the dash lights flashed, the red light indicating electronic throttle control illuminated and the car suddenly dropped speed to 20 mph and would not respond the accelerator peddle being pushed to floor. Cars behind me drove off in the median trying to avoid me nearly causing a major chain reaction. So far I have spent $4000+ in repairs and cause cannot be found. There are 100's of complaints on this issue in the various internet blogs. It appears that the mercedesbenz and Chrysler 300 crd having this same engine has been recalled due to same symptoms. This vehicle needs to be recalled before someone is killed, if that has not happened already and the accident was not properly investigated.

53 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2013

As I was driving on the interstate my Jeep (2007 overland 5. 7l hemi) shut off at the speed of 65mph with no power steering it was hard for me to try to get over as my Jeep was going slower and slower other cars are approaching and honking and scaring me. I thought I was going to be hit. I was able to pull the Jeep off tot he side to put the car in park and try to start it again. It took a few times and it started but acted sluggish all the way home and believe me I stayed on the shoulder side and went real slow. They should recall this because this isn't the first time this has happened to me or other Jeep owners from what I have read. ## VIN failed ##.

54 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2013

First my rear window light would come on during cold weather and would stay on this happened at 35,000 miles. Then my directional stopped working had fixed it had something to do with inside the steering column. This happened at 82,000 miles. Then a few weeks later drove myself to the drs when I came out my Jeep wouldn't start. All the interior lights, radio, directional, windows worked but when I turn it on I hear a click then nothing else. Car wont turn over at all. I waited about an hour of trying before it decided to work and turn over. I then proceeded to drive 5 min stopped at a gas station for gas, when I shut it off and tried turning back on same thing happened. I waited about 45 min before it would start back up. Then no problems for 5 days. Now again its doing the same thing except I left it over night and it still wont start. I called Chrysler after looking online and seeing a lot of people with complaints that were the same as mine except these people spent thousands trying to fix and replace everything yet still no luck they continue having this problem. So this is a very well known problem with Jeep and even after bringing to Jeep dealer and having a diagnostics done with no problems showing up. They don't know what's wrong suggested replacing wires, starter, something in the steering column, and some module. I don't want to dump tons of money in it like everyone else just to have the same problem. Chrysler apologized and said there is no recall for my vehicle. I stated it is a known problem and there should be. She then went on to say I should have it towed back to Jeep for another diagnostic. It works when it wants to work and has left me and my 4 yr old stranded. It seems like anytime there's a problem with my Jeep and everyone else's its always during cold winter months. Frustrated and stranded.

55 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

I was coming to a stop at a stoplight and everything went dead. I couldn't stop the vehicle so it had to roll to a stop. After, I could not restart it. We had to push it to the side. It was towed to dealer. The battery was checked along with the engine. They said it was the ignition switch and that there was a recall. They said they didn't have the parts then and they'd call us when in. They never did. A year goes by and this happened again 2 weeks ago. It was taken to dealer and we were told it was part of the recall, but they could not get the parts to fix it. The dealer said then to write Jeep and complain.

56 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2012

While driving the transmission will slip into neutral and revs high, all gears high-light on the dash board, and this happens at multiple speeds many different times? there have been several times this has almost caused my husband and I to have an accident. I was told by the dealership that a recall has been issued and to wait until notified??? this is not something to take lightly and having almost been in accident(s) I feel this needs immediate attention.

57 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2012

I was driving 65 miles per hour on the expressway, when suddenly, my Jeep began to decelerate until it reached about 40 miles per hour, even though I maintained constant pressure on the accelerator pedal. It felt like I had no control over the speed of the vehicle. Traffic was light so I coasted, and pressed the pedal a little harder, until eventually, the SUV lurched and then started to accelerate. About 3 minutes later, the same thing happened again while I was still driving on the expressway. The vehicle decelerate to 35 while it seemed that I could not control the speed, and then accelerated again. After the acceleration dropped and then increased the second time, I was able to maintain 65 miles per hour until I exited the expressway 15 miles later near my home. Driving a vehicle under these conditions is a horrible feeling! I was so afraid that a car or truck moving at the normal speed would crash into me. If the traffic had been heavier, I would have had to pull over to the side of the highway, which would have been even more terrifying, because it was dark outside, and I had no idea what was going on or how long I would be stranded. We just had the SUV's engine tuned one month ago at the dealer's service center, and we also had the oil changed at the same time. There haven't been any episodes like this until now. I'm actually afraid to drive the Jeep again!.

59 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

For a couple years my Jeep Grand Cherokee has experienced several episodes of ignition shut off. I spoke with my local dealer and they said it was not an issue with Jeep, only some Dodge models. I paid to have a 2nd computerized key made at the dealership, as Dodge was saying their issue was related to the driver having other keys on ignition key ring. This way I had a single ignition key. Still experienced the issue. Last time I was making a left hand turn from a subdivision on to a busy 2 lane hwy with a posted speed of 50 miles per hr. Ignition shut off as I started to cross the right hand lane. Fortunately I had enough forward momentum to clear traffic and came to rest on the left hand shoulder by a farmers field. I finally received in the mail the official Chrysler recall notice for my Jeep due to ignition shut off. Called my local dealer this morning to set up an appointment, although the recall said they would contact me. With several incidents, I felt time was critical. My dealer advised me they had not received the official recall notification from Chrysler and therefore could not schedule the repair free of charge. If however I wanted to pay for the repair they could schedule. I advised them that was not acceptable. Emailed Chrysler customer relations and here also, my dissatisfaction and what appears to be a wonton disregard for human safety by a manufacture and their representative.

60 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2012

Was attempting to merge onto a busy freeway and accelerated up to 60mph when the Jeep suddenly slammed into second gear and refused to shift. I couldn't get it to do anything other than "limp" very roughly to the shoulder. If people hadn't slowed down I would have been busted from several points. Took it to the local Jeep dealership and they told me that it happens with Jeep Grand Cherokees all the time and that they recommended replacing the esm but stated that it doesn't always fix the problem and that they've replaced thousands only to have it recur months later. This is going to get someone killed.

61 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2012

Vehicle will randomly die while driving. This has happened multiple times and is really dangerous when the vehicle dies going 70 mph on the freeway in heavy traffic. Once the vehicle dies it is easily restarted once stopped and then drives like nothing has happened. The vehicle shows no symptoms of this problem and it can not be duplicated but rather happens randomly. My mechanic can not find a solution as the vehicle shows no problems. I am afraid that the engine cutting out for no reason will end up causing an accident sooner or later.

62 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2011

On oct. 5th as I was merging onto the thruway at 55mph the truck just stopped excelerating in rush hour traffic. I put on my flashers and coasted to the shoulder just barely avoiding being rear ended. This was the second time this has happened with this vehicle. You could press the gas pedal and the rpm's would go sky high but the truck would not move while in drive. I turned the truck off, waited several seconds, started the truck and it moved in drive. I immediatly called the dealer and have a oct. 7th service call. This was a near death situation the second time due to the rush hour traffic. This vehicle has trouble shifting when started in the morning. After looking into the matter this appears to be a common problem with this model and make. It appears the electronic shift modules need replacing. After reading the numerous similar complaints I thought I would file a complaint before someone gets killed.

63 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2011

Driving at night, doing 50 mph when vehicle engine cut off - could not pull off road, apply brakes or steer. Towed in. "repaired by dealership" only to occur again in 6 days when engine would not start at all. Again, sent for repair, five days in shop. Occurred again the very next day - would not start. Has been at dealership another week and they still have no solution to problem. Husband is totally disabled and we must have a dependable vehicle. We bought it used with only 37,000 miles on it so we thought it would be almost new. Cannot take a chance of the engine cutting off while on a busy highway!.

68 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

I have received a recall notice over a year ago from fiat Chrysler. I have had the vehicle turn off due to the ignition switch multiple times. Both my husband and my son were driving the car at the time. The engine stopped, the power steering did not work, it was on the highway and on a country curvy road. I do not feel I can sell this car to someone else who might potentially wreck due to this issue. I am still being told the parts are not available to fix this vehicle.

70 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2008

I purchased the car from a 5 star dealership in antioch at an auction. After driving the car for about a month it would refuse to start. There would be times when I would stop and turn my car off and then the engine would not work. Sometimes I would be put in an unsafe situation and it has happened about 8 times. Each time it happens I call the 800 number and have Jeep tow my car, which is still under warranty, to the nearest Jeep dealership. Each time it has been there they have changed module in the engine and within the transmission. The engine has been taken apart and still the problem persists. My car is currently in the repair shop again and it has been extremely frustrating. I brought up lemon law, however, they tell me that since I am the second owner this clause does not apply.
