Jeep is having electrical issues. It will randomly go into limp mode at start, but turning it off and restarting it fixes that issue. It's done this three times in the 2 years we have had it. I am now having an electrical issue where something is causing a draw on the battery while the vehicle is turned off. I have had to replace the alternator, starter, and now the battery. It is causing the battery to swell, and the Jeep is having to be jumped to start multiple times a week. The battery was put on a deep charge, and it had to be jumped the next day. Also the air conditioning back lighting goes off and on when you turn the knobs or adjust the fan speed while both driving and stationary. This has been going on for roughly a month.
Car wouldn't start transmission overtemp error. Drive to work 20 min parked car flat surface came out to leave after 8 hour shift that error message and won't start. 2nd time this has happened no warning was told common issue pigtail to starter because of placement it gets wet or moisture. Which makes this car questionable to drive.
takata recall my vehicle had an issue starting becuase of a short faulty wire connecting to the starter that ive seen on youtube that 750000+ people have the same issue it left me stuck plenty if times as is starts when it wants to. I really cant word it as best as the next person but this is the issue and im oretty sure im not the first person to file a complaint about this here wit Jeep.
Vehicle has been to dealership four times for the same problem. After driving longer than 10-15 minutes turning the Jeep off and trying to restart within 5-10 minutes it won't start. Let it sit for minimum of 20 minutes will start. The relays get very warm but after cooling, the car starts. Dealership has zinged us for a new starter, it didn't need, a new pcm, it didn't need. Testing my own theory 3 consecutive times in one day, drove the vehicle at least 30 minutes. Turned off and attempted to restart (as you would a quick trip to the store) and nothing but waiting each time, car starts after cooling. Picked up the Jeep two days ago from dealership who had it 18 days trying to fix it (3rd time)and the first trip that day resulted in another occurrence of the same problem.

With vehicle parked and the ignition off, I would try to start the car. When I would turn the key, nothing would happen, no sound as if the car was trying to start, not even a tic tic tic. I also noticed that the break pedal would not depress. The first few times I called aaa, but they couldn't start it and had to tow it to a garage. This has happened to me at least seven times leaving me stranded at night in the winter alone along a dark country road. It has happened at the grocery store in the summer when I already loaded all of my groceries into the car, and at my cabin which is over an hour from where I live. I am in my late 60's and walk with a cane so it truly has become a safety issue for me. I have been in touch with corporate office for Jeep and have had two cases opened with them. The problem is always something electrical. One time the dealer had my car for over a month trying to figure out the problem. They have put in a new starter several times. They have removed the remote starter installed by Jeep when I bought the car, so now I can't use the remote starter I paid to have installed and then paid again to have it uninstalled. The latest they told me is that they do not have the correct part for a permanent fix. They can only replace a part with a new part of the same that will eventually fail. This last time I was told that Jeep would pay the bill which they have not. I have now had to pay more to increase my aaa coverage for distance towing since I have been left stranded at my cabin two times. I have also had to pay to rent a car while Jeep worked on my vehicle. In addition, there is a safety recall on the ignition switch which the dealer has not repaired within a reasonable amount of time. The date below is just the most recent event. There have been at least 7 similar events.

The first incident occurred in a brief manner. The vehicle would not start, system stated that the vehicle was not in gear. I turned the key to off. Then tried again and the vehicle started. I left in the vehicle without incident several other times that day. The next day I attempted to start the vehicle, it would not start. One of the attempts the break would not depress. After several other attempts (of on to off) the vehicle started. Ran normal. Once turned off it would not restart. The breaks are normal again. All electrical cables are attached, no corrosion. Vehicle has full power to other components. Yet the starter is not engaging. The system is not showing any errors. We called chrystler (not a dealer), according to our VIN they determined that the vehicle is not included in any of the ignition recalls.

The failure mileage was 43,000.
I have been having trouble starting my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee for months. First I changed the battery that was over $170 dollars , then a few weeks ago the starter that was $340 dollars meanwhile the problem was the ignition switch . I brought my car back to my mechanic and now he tells me it is the ignition switch that same day I receive in the mail a recall notice from Chrysler for the ignition switch. Chrysler also states that they do not have any parts to fix the problem and that the car is totally unsafe to drivein their recall notice. I need a car to go to my appointments for work I cannot depend on this car and it is unsafe to drive. Therefore I have to rent a car and Chrysler should pay for the rental car that I need to drive during the period that they do not have parts for my car. I already called my local dealer and they said speak to Chrysler. I called their toll free number 1 800 992 1997 and received an incident number of #[xxx]. The person I spoke to was [xxx] she said she was escalating my call to parts and they will be contacting me in a few days. It is now Sunday September 21st and I am renting a car as of today because Chrysler does not have parts to fix the car they manufactured. Chrysler must be held responsible for all costs and injuries related to this problem. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

In may of 2014 I replaced my starter because when I would attempt to start my vehicle it would crank but the engine would not turn over. The condition persisted even after putting on an new starter. I eventually went to a Jeep dealer and they were unable to remedy the problem. I received a recall notice from Chrysler about p41/NHTSA 14v-438 recall but was not given a time frame as to when I would be able to take the vehicle in for servicing. In the meantime I continue to drive the one vehicle and it has continued to not start in instances when I need it most. It has done so while my wife had the vehicle which has caused me great distress as she was alone and panicked when it happened. The vehicle does start eventually after about 20 minutes or so. This is unsafe and unacceptable. We spoke to a representative at the dealership where the vehicle was purchased and she told us she could not say when the part would be available. She went on to say we could wait it out or trade it in and basically tack on the amount owed on to the purchase of another vehicle. This is not an option. This situation is very inconvenient as I use the vehicle primarily to commute to work and if unable to drive to work our household income will take a huge blow. We seek remedy. Marc terameau.
First my rear window light would come on during cold weather and would stay on this happened at 35,000 miles. Then my directional stopped working had fixed it had something to do with inside the steering column. This happened at 82,000 miles. Then a few weeks later drove myself to the drs when I came out my Jeep wouldn't start. All the interior lights, radio, directional, windows worked but when I turn it on I hear a click then nothing else. Car wont turn over at all. I waited about an hour of trying before it decided to work and turn over. I then proceeded to drive 5 min stopped at a gas station for gas, when I shut it off and tried turning back on same thing happened. I waited about 45 min before it would start back up. Then no problems for 5 days. Now again its doing the same thing except I left it over night and it still wont start. I called Chrysler after looking online and seeing a lot of people with complaints that were the same as mine except these people spent thousands trying to fix and replace everything yet still no luck they continue having this problem. So this is a very well known problem with Jeep and even after bringing to Jeep dealer and having a diagnostics done with no problems showing up. They don't know what's wrong suggested replacing wires, starter, something in the steering column, and some module. I don't want to dump tons of money in it like everyone else just to have the same problem. Chrysler apologized and said there is no recall for my vehicle. I stated it is a known problem and there should be. She then went on to say I should have it towed back to Jeep for another diagnostic. It works when it wants to work and has left me and my 4 yr old stranded. It seems like anytime there's a problem with my Jeep and everyone else's its always during cold winter months. Frustrated and stranded.
Jeep would not start "transmission temp" would come up on dash. Took to dealer replaced starter. Week later same problem. Went back to Jeep dealer they deemed it to be engine harness. One year later on any given day "transmission temp" will come up on dash with the Jeep sputtering to start. Turn off then start. So far three time since repairs it has done this.
2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4. . My driver side window panel for the passenger window goes down but not up and stops mid way and goes back down. I just had my starter replace due to corrosion of the connectors, and dealer would not replace connectors, just brushed off and stated I need new starter. . . .
After being parked the Jeep would not start, code displayed in the dash stated transmission over temp, after sitting for about 30 more minutes the Jeep started - drove home and it would not start again - took it to a garage and they could not get the problem to replicate after having it for a week. July 5, 2011 - Jeep would not start again, transmission over temp code, still intermittent, after 2 weeks the garage replaced the transmission control module, August 6, 2012 - transmission over temp error code, this time it will not start after any pause in driving, had it towed to the dealer and they are saying its the starter (Jeep now has about 65,000 miles on it) - also had to replace the right front speed sensor (it is bad and causing the traction control system not to function properly). [additional notes: had to replace the esm at 28596 miles, Jeep loss of engine power and all lights lit up on gear shifter, at 27170 miles had to replace both front window regulators].
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo(n/a). The contact stated that the check engine light was illuminated. He stated that the vehicle completely shut down while he was stopped at a stop sign. He was unable to restart the vehicle so the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealership where the starter was replaced and several other components checked. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The current and failure mileages were 134,896.
I cannot remember the exact dates 1- vehicle would not start intermittently - throttle control modular replaced 2- vehicle would not start starter replaced 3- all dash warning lights keep going on and off vehicle lost power - engine light stayed on wiring and wiring harness replaced. 4- all warning lights kept going on and off lost power - engine light finally stayed on dealer just reset the computer. 5-all warning light went on lost power again then abs esp traction control lights on - broken wire fixed in the wiring that was replaced. 6-all warning lights just went on again vehicle has 58k miles lost power now abs esp and traction control lights are on.
I was driving home from a trip and was two hours from home. I stopped at a fruit stand and when I got back in the vehicle it would not start despite it clearly not being a battery problem. The car was towed to the dealer. This occurred on a Saturday. On Monday when they inspected the vehicle it started with no problem. They ran a computer diagnostic check and found no faults. I was told to drive the vehicle until it "acted up again". Twelve days later it would not start again. I had it towed to the dealer who determined that the starter motor needed to be replaced. I find it amazing that I needed to wait until the car broke down again in order to determine what wrong with the vehicle. Clearly there were issues and simply running a computer test was not sufficient.
The day after I bought the brand new 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel, I unlocked the doors with the key fob, opened a couple of the doors and loaded my luggage, then I did the key sequence on the keyfob (lock+panic) to turn off the beep when you lock the car. After all this I tried to start it (correct starting procedure - wait for glow light to go out) and the starter cranked the engine with no firing at all. I repeat and wait 5 times over about 5 minutes, it failed to start each time. Finally after I have waited about 2 more minutes, I tried again and it fired right up like it is supposed to. I am concerned the car could fail to start again. Updated 01-16-08.
