The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed, and the contact heard a loud hissing sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the brake booster had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard without warning while attempting to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective brake booster. The mechanic discovered NHTSA campaign number: 14v154000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic) which the mechanic linked to the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was then referred to the manufacturer. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.
My vehicle in the last 2 days has randomly shutoff completely while driving on the highway. I was able to place in neutral, then restart the vehicle thank goodness without being rear-ended or a collision. The vehicle has been repaired before (NHTSA campaign 19v813000) and (Chrysler's recall number v62). The vehicle at this point I fear is too dangerous to drive. I am going to have the car towed to the dealership in hopes of reinstalling the fuel pump relay hack. There are many of the same complaints online from other drivers with the same vehicle. Something else needs to be done about this soon before someone gets killed.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the brake pedal was slow to respond. The driver had to continuously pump the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer for repair under NHTSA campaign number: 17v572000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the brake booster and brake master cylinder needed to be replaced; however, the parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the repairs were not covered under recall or warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
There was a recall on my car for the brake booster water shield, water could get into the brake booster and cause corrosion and can cause the brakes to stop working. The recall was "fixed" about a month ago, but the brake booster still failed - my best guess is because water already got inside of the booster and already caused corrosion. My brakes began to fail while driving on the highway. When the brake booster blew out it also caused so much pressure that it blew out the master cylinder. The master cylinder is not part of the recall - according to Jeep no damage caused by the recall of the brake booster is under the recall and warranty except the brake booster. The supposed fix itself here is faulty. This could have had a way worse outcome if I could not get my car to a stop. The other part of this is that the piece to fix this is on national back order with no estimated ship date.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle shut off inadvertently. The contact was able to pull over to an open lane, where the vehicle stopped. The vehicle failed to restart. The contact's husband charged the battery with a portable charger, and the vehicle restarted. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact's husband replaced both the battery and the alternator; however, the failure recurred a week later. The battery warning light was illuminated. The contact's husband replaced the alternator; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contacted stated that the check engine warning light and the brake warning light were illuminated. The contact later became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 15v879000 (electrical system, interior lighting), 19v813000 (electrical system) and 17v572000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer and two other dealers were contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
SUV stalls when coming to a stop while making a right turn or while stopping at a light. Power steering and brakes quit working. There are no diagnostic codes thrown for the dealer to check into. This occurs at least three to four times a week. I only commute 4 miles a day. Fortunately everytime this occurs I have been able to come to a stop and no other cars have been near. But if a car was on the street I am turning onto I would have hit their car. The dealer has replaced a few things that could possibly be wrong but the issue does not give diagnostic code to investigate. This is a known issue with Chrysler for this year model and several other years but my Jeep Grand Cherokee has no recalls for it.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle lunged forward. The contact stated that the rpm light and an unknown warning light were illuminated when the crashed occurred. The contact stated that when the vehicle lunged forward, the front bumper of the vehicle crashed into the rear bumper of the other vehicle. The contact's vehicle came to a stop once the impact was made and damage was sustained to the front bumper and the rear bumper of the other vehicle. The vehicle was driven to a dealer where the vehicle's front bumper was repaired. The dealer was unable to determine the failure. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The contact stated that the failure recurred while in the driveway. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle lunged forward. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Wife was driving car off the highway, around a rightward curving offramp, and she noticed that the steering was handling differently, as if the power steering was off, and the brakes were not responding normally either. She could not stop the car where she intended to and was lucky that there was not cross traffic in the immediate intersection. No lights on the dash were lit up. She turned the car off and on again, and the steering and braking was normal again. We brought it to a trusted independent mechanic and described the issue, and they could not reproduce the issue but looked it up and found multiple reports of this occurring with 2010s Grand Cherokees. They were very concerned about the safety of the car and recommended bringing it to a dealer. One local dealer wanted $1000 to begin diagnosing. The other dealer charged $250 to look around but could not find anything that would explain loss of steering and brakes. We do not feel safe driving the car, as we live in a busy urban setting and any loss of control of the car would likely mean injuring or killing one of our neighbors.
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Consumer writes seeking reimbursement for repairs made to vehicle.
The vehicle randomly stalls without warning while driving, causing the power steering and brakes to fail. It occurs randomly every 7-14 days, usually when it's first driven for the day and usually within the first 5-10 miles when slowing down to make a turn. Occasionally it will occur at a stop sign and a few times it has occurred in traffic. It can be restarted by putting it in neutral or park. It has been doing this ever since I purchased the vehicle in 2017 with 68,000 miles on it. It now has 195,000 miles and the stalling has become more frequent. I hoped the recall for the fuel relay would fix it, but it has not. I have read that it is a tipm problem. There are several hundred similar complaints on the NHTSA website. The problem is discussed in Jeep forums on the web. This is a serious safety issue because of potential rear-end collisions. Why won't Jeep or NHTSA address it?.
While trying to make a turn the power steering and brakes did not work. The vehicle did not stall. After stopping I shut the vehicle off and restarted it and it was working, this happened 3 times in about 2 weeks. I have the vehicle in to the dealer trying to find the problem.
Vehicle will randomly stall while slowing down, brake pedal gets instantly rock hard and steering is next to impossible. Fca claimed if was the fuel pump relay but both fuel pump relay recalls were done and it's even worse now.
I was driving on the freeway at 50 mph with my family in the vehicle when I pressed the break pedal I realized my brakes didn't worked the pedal went all the way down to the floor with no stop at all when I pull over to the side with emergency brakes my truck started smoking from front of engine I opened the hood and it exploded in my face almost burn inside this vehicle thank god we made it out alive from the Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 45 mph on a hill the contact attempted to depress the break pedal however, the vehicle failed to stop. The contact stated she allowed the vehicle to coast in to a parking lot at the end of the hill. The contact stated she pushed her vehicle over to a body shop in the same parking lot because she did not want to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that brake booster rusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called robert green Chevrolet (236 bridgeville rd, monticello, NY 12701) to schedule a recall repair appointment as the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17v572000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000.

Cityautopark dealer located in burlington,NJ, unwilling to resolve 2 safety recalls on my vehicle. For a several month ignored my request based on unavailability of needed parts, meanwhile sending me a postcards with urgent safety recalls. This kind of service is not acceptable, especially when it concerning public safety. Recalls on my vehicle 1. Brakes; 2. Fuel system. I hope you will help me to resolve my problem with this ignorent customer service. Thank you.
On more than 1 dozen occasions my Jeep has stalled while driving anywhere fm 20 to 40 miles an hour. I lost steering control and brakes while the rest of gages stayed on. After the first few times I figured out I could throw in neutral , hit the ignition button and it starts right back up. Chrysler Jeep told me this was a "relay " recall for over 1 1/2 years that they had no repair for. So they just kept replacing trhe part. I would get anywhere fm 2 wks to few months with the "new, bad part" the reall repair came in last week. After replacing it, I made it 2 days before I stalled again. This time on an exit ramp doing 30 miles an hour around a sharp turn . I (and my 13 year old son) went off the road into a ditch. I had to use 4 wheel drive to get out. I casued minor f=damage aswell. This time! I keep telling them it;s only matter of time before I die or kill someone when this stall happens. I have had a rental or been with out a car for at least 5 weeks of this last year alone for this recall failure. I look online and there are hundreds of websites and links to Jeep Grand Cherokees that have done this. How many ppl have to wreak or die to get someones attention?? I have filed this complaint a few years ago.
The vehicle was traveling at approximately 40 mph on a traditional two lane country road. As I approached a left handed turn, I pressed the break pedal and instantaneously lost power steering and power breaks. The vehicle became difficult to control and drove off the road into a small grass field. After coming to a stop, I looked at the dash and realized the tachometer showed 0 rpm indicating the engine had stalled. At first, I was unable to restart the vehicle because the shifter was still in drive. The vehicle restarted with no hesitation once the shifter was moved to park. The p54 recall has previously been completed. Fca has been informed and the vehicle was inspected by a Jeep dealer. The recall for v62 is still in development and the vehicle has since received the temporary interim repair. I have decided to park the vehicle until fca can reassure the vehicle is safe to drive.
My car sometimes it doesn't start and keeps cranking. But the most dangerous is when it shuts off while driving. I took it to Jeep service but they didn't find what causes the issues. It keeps stalling. Doesn't happen every day and all the time but it's happening more frequently.
Twice on two separate occasions, when going about 25 miles an hour on a town road and breaking and turning to the right (one time was more right than the other), my car loses power out of no where. My engine shuts off, I lose power steering, and I lose my break assist. It is very scary and dangerous and could cause a life threatening accident. I crossed over into the opposite lane of traffic with little to no control. Fortunately both times no one was near me and I was able to come to a stop. I can then restart the car and drive away. I dont know how to replicate the issue. I have seen other reports of this same problem with other Grand Cherokees on the internet. I dont know if the current recall that I need is supposed to address it or not but I plan on calling my dealer about it ASAP. My car is about 149k miles. I think the lights stay on when this happens.
Our 2011 Jeep grand has un-expectedly shut down while at highway speeds @70mph all brake and steering functions failed to power and we flipped and crashed, this irresponsible decision on lack of recall caused death in my family, I hope Jeep takes responsibilities as we are at great loss.
Two recent events, when braking in slow traffic there was sudden acceleration with foot on brake. Even with stronger and forceful brake pressure the Jeep was still moving and wanting to keep going with engine revving. Had to shift into neutral and then engine quit revving and things returned to normal. I have this Jeep 10 years and am very familiar with it. Never any wrecks. No medical problems. The floor mat was not interfering with any pedals. The dealership was not aware of any recalls about this problem but they serviced the throttle-body after the first incident. This apparently was not the problem as the unintended acceleration when braking occurred a second time. In googling this problem a blog mentioned this could be the Jeep brake-booster which has been recalled and was replaced on my Jeep 2 years ago. Google brings up this sudden acceleration as a common search but no clear answers. I know about the Toyota acceleration problem in the 1990's, that they never found or admitted anything mechanical and assumed it was granny using two feet. This is absolutely a mechanical problem with my 2011 Jeep. Will take to dealership but they already said they aren't aware of this being a Jeep defect. I registered this complaint with Jeep customer care and they said if the dealership can't find the problem to call them back and they will work with the dealership to resolve this. They worrisome thing is they will do something for $1000 and then I have this brake/acceleration occur a 3rd time and it causes a crash!.

While driving and deceleration the Jeep shuts off. No lights come on indicating that the vehicle is no longer running. The first clue is loss of power steering and brakes. This always happens within the first couple miles of driving. The Jeep starts right back up and then 99% of the time won't stall again for a couple days. This is getting more frequent.
It has now happened several times in which I'm driving and the Jeep suddenly loses all engine power, braking and power steering. This happens on the highway. There are never any warning lights or sounds to signal this is about to take place. This last time it almost made me cause an accident.
I was driving down the highway at 60mph when I let off the gas and hot the brakes to slow down for a corner the engine shut down and I lost breaks and steering. I was able to muscle the steering through the corner and coasted to a stop. I put the Jeep in park, got the break pedal and started the vehicle back up. Everything seemed to work again. When I lost the engine, breaks and steering nothing else was effected. I still had lights, radio and gauges. But, no warning lights or codes came on.
Takata recall. When my vehicle is in motion arriving at an intersection, and I decrease the speed, the engine shuts down and at the same time the steering wheel is stuck, making it impossible to turn, and the brakes get hard. I have already taken the car 3 times to the Jeep shop and they have not been able to fix this problem. Since this problem started 2 months have passed and it has already happened 4 times. The car does not show any errors on the screen or afterwards when they are read. It is very dangerous because it always stays in the middle of the intersection without being able to do anything.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving approximately 36 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal to the floorboard, but the vehicle failed to stop. As a result, the contact crashed into the rear of the other vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
I received a letter Jan/2018 for a power brake booster recall. Took the vehicle into the dealership had the repair done Feb/2018. June 5th, 2018 I pulled into the gas station and filled up, when I pulled out of the gas station I tapped the brake and there was nothing there. The breaks went completely out, I was forcing my whole body weight on the breaks to get the Jeep to stop!! there was a truck coming and all I could think of is my small child in the back seat. I have very quick responses, but I was not expecting this to happen at all or even after a recall fix???? I have never been so terrified in my whole life and being so helpless in this situation! I am really shaken up and glad no one got hurt. It was too close to be a close call. Chrysler you need to fix this issue or get all of these models off the road before someone gets seriously hurt or worse killed. Now I have to trade this Jeep in because it is a death trap and I will always be terrified to drive it especially toting my kids around. Breaks are very important and this is a serious recall issue!!!!.
Every 3 months apart or so my vehicle has lost power on the engine causing it to shut down on me when I make a hard left turn while applying my brakes. The first time that it happened it was on the freeway on my way to work out of nowhere my wheel hot hard and when I was pressing my accelerator it was not working. , the second time it happened when I was making a left turn and the same thing happened to me I had to get on top of the side walk because I couldn't steer it enough to make my turn. And my third time happened this morning while I was going under the bridge luckily for me no one was behind me but this problem is a situation ready to go wrong. Out of all these times I have been alone in the vehicle going on my way to work in the morning. Its always a scary experience for me. I do not feel safe driving the car. No codes no nothing. The steering wheel gets all hard that I can barely turn it to get on my right lane so I can put my car in park and restart it , from there it starts working fine like if nothing happened.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland. The contact stated that the battery warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the battery, the alternator assembly and the pcm. The alternator assembly had been extremely warm internally which had affected the pcm. The vehicle had to be turned off during the repair to further diagnose the pcm internal voltage shortage. The dealer fred beans Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (858 n easton rd, doylestown, PA 18902, (215) 348-7500) was aware that there had been two recalls for NHTSA campaign number: 15v879000 (electrical system), 17v572000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic) and had scheduled an appointment for the recall repairs for may 10, 2018. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000. Dyd.
