36 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2018

While making a turn the steering and the brakes locked up and the engine shut off, causing me to lose control of the vehicle. This has happened twice 8 months apart. I've done the recall for the relay switch in 2015. This happened again (2nd time) yesterday April 9th, 2018. I almost hit a car at a light it was terrifying. The dealership has my Jeep now and said they can't diagnose unless they have an error code or unless it happens while the technician is driving it. Is Chrysler going to have people drive these SUV's and ignore that people could die? this is an extremely urgent situation. I don't feel safe driving my Jeep that I love. Please help?.

37 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2018

The car stalled and engine shut off while driving, decelerating around a left turning curve. Lost acceleration capability, power steering, brakes, and electrical system (no emergency flashers). Could barely control car and ended driving through curve, off the road, down into small ravine and into field. Were fortunate to avoid road signs and telephone pole. Car restarted after putting gear in park. Very afraid to drive this vehicle anymore. Not able to get appointment with Jeep dealer for another week. Research shows this could be related to faulty tipm. Our service records indicated this Jeep did receive Chrysler group safety recall p54 (NHTSA #14v530) tipm internal fuel pump relay replacement, which states is a potential cause of the car losing power. Seems to have not prevented the moving car from losing power.

38 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 30-75 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning. Additionally, the brake pedal was applied, but failed to respond. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle stalled and the traction control and service four wheel drive indicators illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified. 39 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2018

40 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2018

The push start button has issues starting the engine. There has been a recall for this and the issue still persists. The only way the dealer will fix the issue is if the problem is seen 1st hand and occurs for longer then 8 seconds. I have paid for multiple rental cars and spent multiple hours at the dealer to have this issue fixed and it keeps recurring. Something needs to be done to fix it without re-occurrence. My final point is that yesterday when dealing with this issue my car started after its second try, I then drove onto the street and the engine shut off and the brakes locked up. Luckily there was not any cross traffic because it could have caused a serious accident on a busy street with my daughter and myself in the car. This hse risk has caused me to be very concerned about the drivability of my vehicle and something needs to be done ASAP!.

43 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2017

Hello NHTSA team, I am writing to you to ask that additional VIN numbers be included in an existing recall. The existing recall is p60 / NHTSA 14v-634 for alternator failure. Our family has two 2011 grand Jeep cherokees and the alternators have failed in both of these vehicles prematurely. Can you please include VIN 1j4rr4gg6bc547471 into the recall. The alternator in both of our 2011 grand Jeep cherokees, the 160 amp unit will suddenly begin making a very loud whining sound that can be heard loudly from within the cabin of the vehicle and within the engine bay. When the failure on the alternator occurs it is very sudden, one day it is working properly the very next day it is not working properly. We have invested a lot of time in discussion already with the fca department at Chrysler. Fca at Chrysler is indicating to us that our vehicles have all of the matching "specifications" to meet the criteria within the existing recall but our VIN numbers are not included, therefore they cannot cover the repair. The fca continually tells us that they are not sure why our vehicles are not included as all of the specifications on their end appear to be identical to the specifications outlined in the recall for the failed alternator. The issue when it occurs is very rapid, we drive the vehicle one day, no issue, and then the very next day when we start the vehicle immediately there is the tell-tail loud whining sound stemming from the alternator and the noise increases in decibels as the rmp increase. Please include VIN 1j4rr4gg6bc547471 in the existing recall. Thank you very much.

44 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2017

On multiple occasions, our 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland 5. 7l engine stalls while braking and trying to turn corners. Recall p54 to replace fuel pump relay to correct this issue was done in November 2015, but the issue has continued. Most recently occurred sept 8th, 11th and now today the 14th. Had vehicle in for diagnostics on sept 13th and Jeep technicians were unable to find the problem. When this stalling occurs, there are no warning lights and apparently no fault codes generated. When motor stalls, we lose power steering and brakes and have ended up on the wrong side of road trying to get stopped. This usually happens when decelerating and braking to turn off or onto a highway.

45 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2017

On September 7th 2017 while driving back from jfk airport my car lost braking power, when I pressed the brakes the brakes touched the floor but the car would still keep moving. It almost caused me to hit multple cars thanks to god I was in the left lane and went over a curb and grass and into a service plaza on belt parkway. This was very frightening, we could have rear ended the car in front of us going 55-60 mph. We got so sacred we were all shaking, we could have been killed or killed someone else. This is a serious issues. When I hit the brakes now the car slows down but does not come to a stop if you are moving fast. I called Chrysler and they said there was a recall on brake booster which caused similar issue but according to them my cars VIN number is not under this recall. The car has less than 63000 miles on it and this is unbelievable. I hope this will help someone from getting seriously injured.

46 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2017

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While the driver attempted to reverse the vehicle, the brakes did not hold and the vehicle crashed into a light pole. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake booster, which was remedied per an unknown recall approximately a year and a half ago, failed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and instructed the dealer not to do anything until the manufacturer's adjustor investigated the failure. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

47 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2017

When driving the engine will turn off with no warning. Since December until now, it has done this a total of 6 times. 3 of the times either merging onto the freeway or getting off of the freeway. Scares me so much. I have been lucky enough to not have anyone crash from the behind. My steering wheel locks, and the brakes become very hard to push down on. Its hard to move out of the way of traffic.

49 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2016

Today as I was leaving work my vehicle would not stop. I press the brakes and the vehicle kept going. This was a very scary moment as I was exiting a gate and almost went straight into the on coming traffic. It's time something is done about this vehicle as I am just experiencing more and more problems for the past 4 years. This vehicle continues to put my family in danger and expense.

50 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2016

Took my Jeep to autonation in littleton CO. For brake booster recall. Not sure what if anything was done to correct the problem. I continue to have difficulty stopping and can hear a hissing noise when the brakes are applied. I am concerned about the commitment from this Jeep dealer to repair the problem. I plan on taking alternative options for repair. But wanted to file a formal complaint. This is a very dangerous issue and one that could cause serious harm to me or someone else.

52 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2016

Was slowing down from 50 mph to make a left hand turn. As I was entering the turn, at about 30 mph, the engine shutoff. All dash lights still functional, radio was still on, turn signal still on. There was no sputtering. Lost power steering and power braking (and any other items that are not functional while in "run" mode). Shifted to "neutral", but it would not start because the transmission was not in "park". Pulled to the side and stopped the vehicle, put it in "park". Started like nothing had happened. There were no warning lights before shutdown, there are no service lights or obd ii codes stored in computer. Was using the push button starter, the key fob was in my pocket.

The repair did not correct the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.

54 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2016

On may 28, 2016 while navigating my driveway, my car suddenly accelerated forward and crashed into the back wall of my garage. Damage was done to my home and my car. I had no control over the vehicle. Hitting the brake and trying to hit the ignition button did nothing to stop the vehicle. On another occasion, about two weeks earlier, I had parked the car at walmart, pressed the brake and the ignition button to turn it off. While in park and the engine off, the vehicle lurched forward and bumped the SUV sitting in front of me. I am now afraid to drive this vehicle! I have reported this incident to my local auto dealership and chysler corp. The damage is being repaired at my cost.

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland. The contact stated that while braking and turning to the right the engine would shut off causing the power steering to shut off as well. There were no warning indicator lights that would flash on. The vehicle was taken to a dealer huntington beach Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram 16701 beach blvd, huntington beach, CA 92647 714) 841-3999. 56 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2016

Vehicle was traveling down the freeway at a constant speed of 70mph with foot on the throttle pedal. Traffic from an on-ramp forced a quick/sudden stop (quick transition from throttle pedal to brake pedal). The brake pedal was completely frozen and would not depress for an extended period of time (vehicle would not decelerate). Forced driver to swerve off the freeway, and nearly crashed. Non-emergency (quick throttle to brake transition) braking is still functional. The situation was able to be recreated by both the driver and the service tech at the local dealership. Dealership confirmed that the issue is present on four other vehicles (one 2011, one 2012, and two 2013's) on their sales lot, as well as the vehicle in question. Dealership confirmed this has nothing to due with recall p05 (similar scenario). Dealership submitted a case to fca. Fca had them replace vacuum lines, another brake booster, and the vacuum pump. The issue was still present. Fca told them they could, at the expense of the consumer, try to splice some vacuum lines and see if the issue goes away. At the advice of the dealership, customer denied "troubleshooting" on their vehicle. Fca told dealer this issue has nothing to do with the p14 recall that was replaced a week prior (replaced twice) on the same vehicle (brake booster), and is not covered under that recall. Dealership is now giving the vehicle back to the customer with this condition still present.

70 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2015

I left my car in with darcars Jeep of rockville, maryland on April 2nd for a routine service and to complete any recalls. Darcars informed me that they were unable to complete one of the recalls (recall number 14v154000) on the car because criswell Jeep of gaithersburg (a dealership that I used in October 2014) claimed they had already performed the work for the recall and had been paid by Jeep, however the work was never actually done. Jeep is refusing to pay for this recall because criswell, one of their licensed dealerships, is not being honest. A dealership lying about performing recalls is a serious safety violation and should be reviewed immediately by your agency. How many other recalls has criswell been paid for but not actually performed the work? what are the controls in your agency to mitigate this risk?.
