Have contacted dealer numerous times to address two recalls. They state still waiting for parts. Have been waiting more than one year to have these recalls addressed.
I took my car for three recalls one of them was the brake booster. They called me the other day to pick it up. I went and they told me everything is fixed. The problem wasn't fixed. I almost crashed 4 times and I had to call a tow truck. I called the dealer and they said if I want them to look at the car and find the problem they would charge me. I told him it's the brake booster and showed him a video to prove it. He declined to help me.
Was in motion on a snowy day pressed on the brakes and they became hard to press to brake I noticed it had a recall a couple years ago on the brake booster and I took it in they told me it was a bad brake booster. Want to know if that is something I can get it checked again because it was suppose to be fixed.
The Jeep will sometimes require more braking distance than anticipated. Usually when cold, the brake peddle will feel hard, and if an event requires urgent braking, continuous firm pressure might not result in normal stopping distances. What normally is enough peddle pressure to cause the vehicle to lock its wheels, now results in a slow, steady stop. This will also happen in reverse just slowly backing down the driveway. When parking on a slight grade, the vehicle will move forward or backwards depending on slope, about 2" when the engine is shut off. The brake peddle also moves toward the floor at that time. Recall of the brake booster p14 / NHTSA 14v - 154 was repaired in September of 2014, and I suspect it could again be the issue now. I am having the same dealership look into this.
In the 18 months I have owned the vehicle it has randomly turned off 5-6 times on the highway or on a street. The engine turns off (with no warning on the dash) and you lose power steering and braking. I have taken it to the dealership twice in the last two months and they are not able to diagnose. I am picking up the car tomorrow from the dealership that has had it for the past six days. They will be releasing me an unsafe car that I will not allow my daughter or wife to drive.
I was driving down a busy road in our town today. The battery light came on. Approximately 10 minutes later while still driving, the lights on dash started flashing on and off, seatbelt alarm started going off, windshield wipers started working without turning on. The radio turned off. I lost power steering. The vehicle shut off while still driving down the road. I had no power breaks--seemed to almost stop working. I was fortunate to get on side of road in grass to keep from getting hit by another car. If there had not been a grassy area there would have been an accident. The vehicle then was completely shut down--door locks would not work- tried to put key fob in ignition and could not get it back out--was unable to get back gate opened. I had to have car towed to dealership where I was told it was the alternator which in turned destroyed the gel type battery. I was also informed this was not covered under the alternator recall due to not matching my VIN number. I was first quoted $2,000 to cover the damage. I am very upset due to the fact that there could have been a serious car accident today. I am thankful my child was not in the car with me. I think it is terrible that the recall does not include the alternator in this 2012 grand Jeep cherokee when the description of what "could" happen did happen to me today. I feel that Chrysler/Jeep should cover this damage in the recall of the alternator.
I drove my car not even three houses away from my residence and had to stop at a stop sign. Going roughly 10-15 miles and I could not stop my car. My brakes were hard and nothing happened. My car missed an incoming car and I swerved onto a curb to stop my car. My brakes were completely out! my car had to get towed to the dealership and come to find out it was a recalled part on the car that made the brakes not work- brake booster. Dealership said t would be replaced. They called next day to tell us it would not be replaced due to an expired warranty. And to call Chrysler 800 hotline. It got us nowhere. The rep refused to put a manager in the phone indicating they will call me back after their 1 day policy. And that my car was already fixed and that I should pay for it and they might reimburse me for it in 3-5 business days. Chrysler is refusing to pay for that recalled part.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle was shifted from park to drive, the vehicle rolled away while the brake pedal was depressed without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 14v154000 (service brakes, hydraulic), but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the service brake and hydraulic system failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was 27,300.
Break booster recall - 6/3/2016 - my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee could not be stopped. While driving, as I attempted to stop the vehicle, I noticed the break pedal was much harder than usual. When I pressed the break pedal, air was escaping from the break pedal and the car could not be stopped. I had to use the emergency break to stop the vehicle all the way back to the dealership. I managed to drive the car to the dealership and tried not to crash the car or hurt myself or someone else. After speaking to the dealership, I was informed there was a recall on the vehicle back in 2014 which the "fixed". However, the issue was not resolved because the recall issue happened again today.
About a month after purchasing my used Jeep, I was coming to a stop on a city street and my Jeep powered off completely. After taking the Jeep in to the dealership they fixed the fuel pump relay, which was recalled ,and sent me on my way. Since then my Jeep has powered off 5 times (once while entering the highway, twice while exiting the highway, once while making a u-turn under the highway and once on a city street) each time while braking. I've had no power brakes or steering each time.
My brakes stopped working while stopped at a stop light. The brake pedal kicked back and forced my foot upwards. I was at that point no longer able to depress the brake pedal. I started crawling forward and when the light turned green slowly accelerated to a parking lot. I had to press on the brakes as hard as I was able and slowly came to a stop. There was extreme resistance to depressing the pedal and a grinding/hissing noise coming from engine compartment. It also sounded like the brakes were grinding at the wheels. I was lucky to be at a stop light and not traveling at high speed with my children. The vehicle was towed to dealership and they are diagnosing.
I currently have the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee and over the years, my vehicle has had a total of (7) recalls. Recalls: brakes, electrical, etc. The most recent recall stated that the vehicle could stall with the risk of a crash! upon receiving my notification letter, I made an appointment with the anticipation that the repairs would only take 1 ¿ 2 business days. Unfortunately, the repair time was approximately 1 week through the weekend. I would like to express my un-satisfaction with the service at the Chrysler group llc (Chrysler) and at this time would like to escalate my concern as a complaint. I would like someone from the corporate office such a manager and/or director to contact me and explain why my issue can¿t be resolved. I would also like to register my complaint with bbb. I have attempted to contact Chrysler group llc (Chrysler) on many occasions to resolve my issue. I have purchased and leased several vehicles from Chrysler over the years, and now I am very disappointed with the response I received to settle my claim for rental car reimbursement.
While operating the vehicle on the highway during rush hour (slow traffic) we lost all braking power from the vehicle. Thankfully, we were able to get out of the situation without any harm, however at higher speeds we would have gone into a terrible accident. The vehicle was part of a recall for the brake booster in 2014, and was checked by a Jeep dealer at the time. When we lost braking, the brake pedal became extremely hard, and we weren't able to loose speed at all.
My brake booster replacement for a recent recall had failed, and I was unable to stop getting off an exit on a major highway. I had to coast through a school zone and pull in to a local parking lot, having my car stop as I ran in to a snow bank. I had to have my car towed to a local car shop to assess the situation, then fight with Chrysler to have them tow my car to the original dealer who sold me the car. I have always had my oil changed, tires purchased and all recalls on my car fixed at the original dealer, with whom I had purchased the car from in 2012.
The dealer completed the brake booster inspection and I nserted a shield for the brake boosters recall in December of 14. After that date, the brakes were not stopping the vehicle during hard stops because proper brake pressure was not present. September 8 2015 the dealer replaced the brake booster because it was not operating correctly. The brake booster should have been replaced on the initial visit as I was driving around with brakes that were not operating correctly. Normal driving I could not notice the difference but emergency stops and stopping while towing was dangerous.
On 9/5/15, I applied my brakes as I was approaching a red light at approximately 40 mph. Initially I felt the brakes grab but then the brakes gave out causing me to swerve to avoid a car in front of me and then using the other lane of traffic to finally get the vehicle to stop in the middle of the intersection by applying my emergency brake. Obviously, quite a harrowing situation for myself in addition to the other vehicles in my path on both sides of the road. Luckily there was no accident and even more important, no injuries. Westbury Jeep in NY (where I service my vehicle) told me that the cause was a bad brake booster. That triggered questions in my mind as in September of 2014 I had recall p14 serviced. It seems that a shield had been installed but that the booster itself had not been changed. Why wasn’t the booster changed at that time? I now have my doubts that this was properly and adequately taken care of, putting my life and the life of others in danger. In researching this problem further, I’ve come across several other cases mirroring mine…quite alarming.

Day 1. . . . Car just stopped out of no where a picture of a battery showed up and the car just stopped and shut down on its own day 2. . . . Took car in to get a new battery because that was totally dead but on day 3. . . The battery did not fix the problem the car once again shut down on me and this time it was in the middle of the freeway I was stuck for a couple of hours cant even jump the car cuz it still wont start it so I had to get it towed off the freeway. . Midday of day 3 discovered it was the alternator and finds out there were for 4 recalls on my car so I took it to the Jeep dealership. They stated they can only fix 3 out of 4 of the recall due to not having all the parts and informed me it will be done before the day is over. 4:30pm came around and I called to check in on the car to see if it was ready the worker stated yes come pick it up so I did and when I was almost home the same problem the car shut down on me so I called the dealership to take the car back in before it fully shut down altogether. Day 4. . . . Dealership called me about 11am and stated ok theres nothing wrong with it and I can go pick it up so I stated ok but about an hour later when I was about to be on my way the dealership stated wait do not come pick it up yet because there is something with the computer system of the car and that the steering power is not connecting to the alternator and is shutting the car down but the part to fix it wont be in til tommorrow. Day 5. . Still waiting for my car to be fixed. . . . . Please if there is anyway I can just simply swap this lemon with a different car that would be great I have a 4 year old and this is a safety hazard and according to one of the recall the car can crash without notice. . . . Help me pleaseeeeeee.

When driving, often on highways for a while the brakes get extremely stiff feeling for a few seconds. After a few seconds the brakes go back to normal feeling. When this happens it feels like car loses braking power and braking feel during the stiff brake.
