2 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

The shifter began jumping out of gear about October, 2020. . . When I would put in park getting out it had moved back to drive and I had to quickly get back in and put back in park. There had been an earlier re call, took to dealer ship and they supposedly fixed whatever problem was. At time of recall I did not have any problems. As time wore on I began to have shifter problems. The light on shifter began to go off and on and it getting out of shift became more frequent . . . Took to dealership in southaven ms. . . Service mgr said there had no complaints. . . My research showed different. . . He said they would have to replace place but back order. . . This was in November. It is now January, 21 and I am still driving and the shifter is still on back order, according to landers Jeep they know when they will be able to replace with corp saying that 357 shifters so far are on back order. . . That is all that they would do. . . . This situation is not only dangerous but scary. . . Chrysler continues to shove under the rug issues with the shifter and doesn't seem to care about customers who need more than just lies and blank stares.

5 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2015

I feel the 8 speed automatic shift lever is dangerous at best and could result in a deadly accident. On several occasions I have thought I was in park , pressed the off button and went to exit the vehicle only to find the engine was still running and I was in reverse. Since the shifter always returns to the center position, there is no positive "feel" that the lever is indeed in park. I know you can say I should have looked down to be sure the engine was actually off, and you are correct, but after some 50 years of driving I know when I think I have shifted into park and turned the engine off, and with this car you just can't tell. On one occasion I even exited the car, and when I went to open the trunk noticed the fob would not open the trunk. Suspecting the fob switch was failing, I opened the car door and found the engine was running and the car was still in drive. Thankfully, I had parked in a small pothole in an otherwise flat parking lot and idle speed was not enough for the cat to drive itself out of the hole. Additionally, if you accidently bump the shifter out of drive while in motion and into neutral, when you realize what you have done and bump back into drive, there is a several second lag before drive picks back up. Not horrible on low traffic roads, but could be a real hazard on an expressway in heavy traffic. General safety of this entire shifter assembly needs to be reviewed.

6 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2015

I have had transmissions issues with my 2015 Jeep cherokee from the first week I purchased it. I have had my Jeep into the dealership to address this issues several times now. They have replaced the transmissions once, updated the firmware a couple of times, and are now just telling me "that's the way it is" and that I will just have to live with the problems. The transmissions jerks into gear a times, especially when accelerating after a near stop (spins the tires sometimes when it 'clunks' into gear), slips out of gear at times and 'clunks' back in (when traveling around 40 mph usually), and has also just quit functioning all together while trying to enter a freeway (had to pull over and stop/start car to get the transmission back). Every time I drive the car one of these issues can be observed. I am a very displeased long time Jeep owner. .
