Transmission Stuck In Gear problems of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

While driving at highway speed my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee eco diesel started to make a rumbling noise, the oil pressure light came on within a minute the engine shut off still at highway speed. When I pulled over to the shoulder the car was stuck in gear, would not restart and had a small oil leak. The car was towed to the nearest dealer who determined that the car had engine damage and the engine needs to be replaced. Car has less than 33,000 miles and still has original tires, and brakes. All oil change services were performed as suggested. Car was purchased new from dealer August 4th, 2015.

The design of the automatic transmission gear shifter can lead to incorrect gear selection. Many times I have switched from d to r only to be stuck in neutral or gone all the way to p. Vice versa, on switching from p to d the car may go to n because the joystick was not held quite long enough. The "notches" that indicate the gear selection via tactile feedback to the driver are very subtle and can be easily misinterpreted or miscounted.

Transmission frequently stuck between gears when starting from a near stop. Dealer is able to reproduce issue and computer reports that "dog clutch" is confused on which gear to be in. When applying throttle, car will not move until clutch disengages causing a strong surge. Chrysler engineering is refusing to address the issue. I feel it is a safety concern as the car doesn't move when pressing throttle until the transmission decides which gear to engage.

2015 Grand Cherokee - 6 cyl - transmission propblem- multiple occasions of hard & loud shifting in low gears - stuck in low gear - loss of power - poor mpg - check engine light on indicating trans. Errors - dealer has repaired / patched software 3 times and problems continue. . .
