37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2024

Driving and the display screen kept switching uncontrollable and caused a safety issue while I was driving and was not in a familiar place, and was trying to use the screen for navigation directions. Concern as it was switching screens/adjusting the heat controls while I was driving. Research indicates my screen has become delaminated and a known issue with this car. Concern that while I drive this continues and may be a safety risk.

Failure Date: 01/10/2024

I own a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the uconnect 8. 4" touchscreen. The screen has begun to delaminate—a well-documented and widespread issue in 2017–2019 Jeep models. As the touchscreen separates from the display, it causes ghost inputs and malfunctions in key systems: - the radio and apple carplay are unusable - the screen randomly calls contacts, including emergency services like 911 without my consent - I’ve had to disable bluetooth on my phone to prevent unintended calls and inputs - the issue prevents safe and legal use of my drive safe & save bluetooth beacon from my insurance company multiple Jeep dealerships quoted between $1,000–$2,000 for repairs, despite this being a known defect. The vehicle is out of warranty, but this malfunction poses a safety hazard. I am filing this complaint to request that NHTSA investigate this issue and encourage Jeep/stellantis to issue a recall or extended warranty coverage. This issue is not cosmetic—it compromises driver focus, emergency call systems, and critical controls. Many owners are experiencing the same failure with no accountability from the manufacturer.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2024

Delamination of radio is causing the radio to change radio channels, not be able to use the handless phone option or adjust heated seats. The constant beeping when the radio is constantly and randomly changing channels is a safety hazard. Fca is aware of the issue and has not issued a recall and is denying repairs for the consumers.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2023

I purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The second I left the lot, the screen started flashing the clock settings screen. I researched this and it states that it's a known issue because the screen delaminates. I purchased a warranty and the company will not cover it. This is a safety hazard. From hours of research, this issue has been known and Jeep needs to do a recall on this. If someone gets hurt pertaining to the disfunction of the screen and it's options, there will be a lawsuit and I don't think Jeep wants to deal with that. I'm trying to upload a video of what it does, but for some reason this website isn't letting me upload anything.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2023

Uconnect screen started to delaminate causing phantom touches. Poses a danger and safety risk to driver and passengers. “screen off” button does not work since it’s registering touch. This also causes inability to control safety features.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2023

Dash cover separating/bubbling from dash panel as if the adhesive under cover is releasing. My bigger concern is if the airbag had to deploy it would take/pull the entire cover of the dash instead of blowing out from its designed location possibly hindering the airbags effectiveness and safety. I know a similar recall has been issued in the past on previous model years that was a concern for this very thing.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2023

I purchased a vehicle from automaxx of the carolinas 11/09/2023. In which the dealership agreed to fix the two from windows that won't down due to the gaskets being damage I did brought that to mr michael dangerfield the day I purchased the truck. 46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2023

2018 Grand Cherokee. . . . As you are aware of this already, the radio screen started delaminating and now the crystals are leaking out of he bottom of the screen. This in turn causes all the systems to go off and on at random, that can be controlled by the screen. All safety functions are now disabled due to this problem. Several attempts were made to contact the dealership and Jeep customer care, only to be told that here is nothing they can do and to buy a new one. They also said there was no guarantee that the new radio wouldn't do the same thing. This is a top of the line high altitude Grand Cherokee that now doesn't have any of the safety features and comforts that I paid top dollar for. Jeep should honor their quality control issues but have been blowing everyone off. I have been on many forums and they are having the same issue. I got your website from one of the forums and can't believe that is has been a long time since they posted and you couldn't do anything about it so far. Thanks for listening, don thompson 717-945-9933.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2023

The screen on the uconnect/stereo system has DE-laminated. This causes ghost touches and the screen jumps around on its own. Controls switch on their own, from media, to navigation, to climate, to controls, etc…it will also make phone calls on its own and has even dialed 911. This all happens while driving. It causes a huge distraction which is a safety issue. It also makes the whole system inoperable. Based on my research this is a very common issue with 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2023

Uconnect 4c/4c 8. 4 inch display screen issues: screen is ghost touching ,making choices on its own while driving, climate control will run haywire and do the opposite of what’s needed to defrost window and it’s can’t be stopped or cut off, unable to get heating seats off and seats heat up so much it burns legs and sacrum, unable to use back up camera, cannot access radio, navigation system, anything that’s needed that has to do with function of the vehicle that’s operated by that screen is unable to be done because it’s constantly chooses and self taps every. I have almost crashed many times due to this happening and it’s very unsafe.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2023

The uconnect touchscreen on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee has experienced delaminating and I currently experience phantom touches on the screen (I don't touch the screen but selections are randomly made). These phantom touches are a serious distraction to a driver and they happen frequently. Given all of the controls for the automobile that can be made from the screen, it is a serious safety issues to drivers of these vehicles with this issue as well as others on the road. I have read on numerous online forums that there have been many others that have or are currently experiencing this problem. I believe the auto maker should have these vehicles recalled and appropriately fixed. Please look into this issue ASAP before someone is hurt by the automaker's inaction. I'd be happy to answer any questions that you might have about this problem.

Hello, there is a few things going on with this vehicle, this is a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 27k miles. Uploading recalls on this vehicle. 1. It has a fuel leak, this is a vehicle that does not have a gas cap, it has been fully diagnosed by the dealer, they want to charge $900. 00 to repair plus a $250. 00 diagnostic fee. 2. Car would not move, stopped abruptly, had to turn car on and off while in traffic in order to get car going, almost causing an accident. 3. Car will tell you its about to hit another car when it's not and will turn on and off while driving, almost causing an accident. Dealer does not want to take a look at the car unless you pay them $250. 00, want to keep the car for a week and does not want to provide a car rental while car is under their diagnostic phase. Dealer assessing the car is kendall Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram at 13355 sw 137th Ave, miami, FL 33186, spoke to lazaro varas, assistant service manager. Please guide me on what to do, thank you. Ana gabriela morales.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2023

Backup camera remains on while driving. I am unable to use any other features on the screen.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2023

We bought this vehicle brand new in 2018, since then it has had an entire new engine, numerous check engine lights and safety recalls. There are now 2 recalls that pose a risk for my family and I with no solutions provided. Chrystler refused to buy back the vehicle or provide us with a loaner while a solution is not available. This type of business is not right. I’m left with an unsafe vehicle.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2023

My radio keeps going in and out. Making it hard to use my rear view camera or manage controls for heating and cooling. I have tried resetting with no luck. It is a big distraction while driving.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2023

SUV. Stall out no power to gas padel SUV won't turn off the park light blinking, and won't go in neutral. I have to wait 15 before I can start it back up an drive.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2023

Multiple times now, the rear view camera stays on while driving and there's no way to get it to turn off. Hitting the x in the corner of the screen does nothing, the power button nor the screen off button work, and I cant access anything on the screen. While driving, theres a constant view of the road behind me and it's incredibly distracting. This appears to line up with recall 20v-191, although my specific car isnt included in that but im absolutely experiencing the same things. No warning messages or anything indicating an issue before it happens - it seems completely random. Ive tried soft reset and many button press sequences ive found on forums but the only thing thats ever worked is leaving the car off for 20+ minutes so it resets. This has happened on at least 4 different occasions, I have videos of 3 of them.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

Entire front leather dash has delaminated and separated by bubbling up from the original glue not holding. Also, the exhaust resonators (both sides) on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee srt is bad on both sides and blowing out fiberglass from my exhaust pipes all over the backside of my car. I’ve read on multiple forms that several customers have encountered the exact same issues on their Jeeps as well. Is this issue being addressed and covered by the manufacture? if so, I definitely would like this to be taken care of.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2023

The computer screen (radio, climate control, back up camera, etc. ) the screen has a mind of its own. It will go on and off by itself all the time. It changes the radio stations and climate control by itself. The back up camera will be on and then as we are baking up it goes out, or won't work at all. Its very dangerous and distracting for the driver. In contacting Jeep, they will not cover the cost to repair or replace. We even purchased an extended certified added care warranty when we purchased the Jeep and they won't cover it either.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2023

The screen is delaminating a little bit not long after I bought the car. Now the delamination came down to the radio button. There is a “ghost button” which makes the screen jump from the radio to the map nonstop. It is impossible to use the map even map from car play . It is very dangerous to drive on highway.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2023

Ecm/pcm.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2023

The leather is pulling loose on dash. It is bubbled up from passenger side starting over into drivers side.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2023

The display screen in the center of the dashboard is delaminating. This is very dangerous becasue it randomly changes all the settings constantly. Heat on/off, radio on/off anything that has a touch button on the screen (which is just about everything for that car) can randomly change at any time. It is getting worse as time goes on. This is a safety issue. When looking online I see this is very common for 2018 Jeeps, but is not a recall. It is a safety issue and should be a recall it is happening to so many 2018 Jeeps.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2023

While driving the vehicle it shut off and would not start unless the vehicle was jumped. This happened twice in the middle of the highway, extremely dangerous my children were in the vehicle and other vehicles had to swerve to avoid contact with my vehicle. I took the vehicle back to the dealer that I purchased the vehicle from and they could not figure out the issue. My vehicle is currently with another independent dealer, I changed both batteries, I changed the alternator, checked all of the fuses and checked the relay switches and the vehicle still will not start without a jump and it will only run for a day without needing a jump. No warnings, it just happened.

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2023

The lg screen in the dashboard is delaminating and causing the radio and various bluetooth functions to go haywire. The radio stations change and dance across the screen, the temperature in the car changes without my touching it, and phone calls are initiated totally on their own without my involvement. This is highly distracting while driving. I'm told by the dealership who services my vehicle that the screen plus the electronic components all have to be replaced to the cost of over $1,000 and that it is not covered under the 100,000 mile warranty I have on the vehicle. I've researched this problem online and have discovered that many cars/suvs have this issue and apparently it is due to a faulty lg screen. I found this in chat groups and have not independently verified it. I am writing to your administration to request you look into this issue and if it is as widespread as it appears to be, I think you should consider the safety aspects of the distraction this causes and recall the lg screen and associated components.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2023

The uconnect screen started to delaminate, causing the screen to push buttons and make selections all on its own. While driving on the highway the screen start beeping loudly and wouldn’t stop as it was “ghost” pressing buttons on the screen and I could not get it under control. You can’t use any of the features of the screen because of the “ghost” pressing. I have no more access to the backup camera, no access to navigation and will need to rely on a mobile device. This is a common issue for many uconnect vehicles and should require a recall for replacement. I was never given a warning, it just started beeping and flashing screens while driving which was distracting and unsafe. The vehicle is no longer under warranty, so I would have to pay for this clearly a recall issue.

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2023

The radio had delaminated causing my radio to start switching stations randomly, rendering my dashboard useless- no phone, no navigation, unable to adjust heat, indoor cabin temperature, or hear radio.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2023

Car caught on fire while engine was off.

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2023

Uconnect navigation system shows current location as west virginia but vehicle is in missouri. If attempted to use or refer to onboard compass associated with system would result in significant driving direction/location mis-information. Software is current up to date for system; system is currently inoperable in this condition. Prior to this however navigation and compass were working correctly. Review of numerous Jeep online forums shows this navigation system failure to be quite common and likely requires complete radio/information system replacement. Why has no recall been issued?.

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2023

The "uconnect" touch screen infotainment system is delaminating which causes rapid and continuous "ghost" touches. This is extremely distracting and unnerving. This will occur on any screen. Radio, navigation, climate control, sos, etc. Are all affected by this. When this occurs it is very difficult to concentrate on driving due to the rapid succesion of ghost touches.

69 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2023

Stereo screen is delaminating, sometimes I am completely unable to use radio, temperature controls, hands free calling etc. Screen presses buttons and goes crazy and I am unable to do anything. That is definitely a safety hazard. From what I have researched this is a very common problem with Jeeps.

70 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2023

The unconnect stop working and the radio went black.
