36 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/01/2022

Shortly after purchasing the vehicle I engaged the adaptive cruise control. It worked fine until such time as I attempted to pass a large vehicle such as a semi truck. When I would get along side of the truck the brakes violently slammed on without warning. The vehicle has been taken back to the selling dealer for repair and they were not able to fix it. (see uploaded repair order). I then called Jeep customer care who then sent me to another dealer for a second opinion. This dealer attempted repairs twice, both without success. When I took it back again a dealership employee rode with me and took a video of what happens when passing a truck with the adaptive cruise engaged. This dealer now has it for the third time and so far the vehicle has been there for about 9 days with no indication of any progress. Even if they "fix" it I am not confident of the safety of the vehicle as it would be very easy to be hit in the rear end by a following vehicle should this happen again.

38 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/17/2021

The uconnect system laminate bubbles and as such, the system has a phantom buttom touch every few seconds. While driving, this results in an audible ding, the navagation no longer is visible, you are unable to use the backup cameras. I have also been in a situation where it turned on the seat and steering wheel heating and I was unable to turn it off. This is a very wide spread issue and is an incredible safety hazard when driving. It effectively makes it not possible to control the electronics of the vehicle while driving. I urge anyone reading this who does not think this is a huge issue to try driving one of these vehicles while this is happening. I used to drive over 20k miles a year with my previous vehicle. This issue started a month after I bought this vehicle from vroom. As such, I have driven less than 1,200 miles in 18 months. I am incredibly surprised that this has not been recalled yet. I am trying to upload a video of it but it will not let me. This is a major problem.

40 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/30/2019

While using the acc function and setting forward distance at any length the problem is that when the car in front of you slows, stops,,or turns my vehicle will brake on its own. However, while braking during the mentioned operation the big problem is that the brake lights do not illuminate. I have had several close calls with someone nearly running into the back of my vehicle during the use of the adaptive cruise control (acc). This can be extremely dangerous if you are now fully aware of this problem. This should have been addressed during the acc hazardous examination phase. A very simple fix would be to install an I/p switch in the brake line at the master cylinder so that the pressure from the acc applying the brakes sends the pneumatic signal to an electrical signal that lights up the brake lights. This problem should absolutely have been caught and addressed during the design phase. I found out when I asked a service manager about it and he said the lights do not come on. He also said they know about it.

41 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

Cruise control suddenly does not kick off using controls unless brakes are applied, nor does it engage all of the time. There is no difference in when vehicle is moving or stationary but will sometimes occur after blinker is used. No blind spot detection alert or message at all.

42 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

While using cruise control and traveling at a speed of approximately 70 miles per hour on the highway, my car accelerated on its own and ai had I had to hit the brakes. I was thankfully able to slow it down, to which the entire car shuts down. The vehicle completely shut off and would not start. I had to have it towed to Jeep and they told me it was not one, but both fuel pumps had failed. They charged me over $1700. 00. There is currently a recall for this very issue and Jeep made no attempt to fix it. I had no idea there was even a recall for this until now and this happened a few years ago.
