2 Brake Light problem of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/01/2022

Vechicle was purchased on 11/6/21 att smithhaven Jeep in nys. The next day I noticed substansial condensation in both the head lights and rear brake lights. I took the vechicle to the dealer right away and they stated "its normal and it will go away", that being said I still have this issue and it has not been resolved. On approx 12/13/21 the vechicle's radio froze and I was unable to use it for several days. A message prompted me to call sirius xm radio, however they stated it was a vechicle issue and not a satelite radio issue. I looked up online and found how to hard reset radio and I have to do that occasionally to clear the unresponsive radio. The most recent issue was a complete trasmission failure on 2/1/22. While attempting to move vechicle the transmission would not go forward past the 1st gear and would not go into reverse nearly causing a major accident. Dealer is not privy to this issue and does not have an eta for repair. Jeep corprate has been contacted with no resolution. This was a major mechanical malfunction and the vechile is only 3 months old with 2,300 miles. I am unable to upload pictures or videos however I have them to submit if needed.

6 Brake Light problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/03/2015

I have had to replace my right side brake light assembly four times. For some reason, it continues to go bad. This is getting really expensive and inconvenient, as I continue to get stopped by the police for this problem. I've been told that this has been an issue with many of these trucks. I have had this truck for four years.

7 Brake Light problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

Soon after taking possession of this vehicle (9/27/13) I noticed that now and again (4/5 times) there would be a hesitation from the automatic transmission when shifting to the next higher gear when accelerating to highway speed. It was so subtle that I filed it under "nothing is perfect", but would keep score. Don't be misled by the low mileage above. That is my new normal. A head and neck injury in 2001 followed by a long overdue diagnosis of severe ptsd by the va left me practically a "house hermit" and driving anywhere involving distance requires hiring a driver. This vehicle was nothing more than my being able to have access to the woods with a 911 button attached to keep the p/a in check. What happened to me was that from a stop sign I turned onto the main highway and was accelerating to 55 when at about 50 the transmission hung, this time it would not release to the next gear, the engine began to struggle until it almost stalled. As unexpectedly as it had hung the transmission shifted, the engine immediately recovered ""with a roar"" and off we went. (extra rpm's, ? computer/fuel pump saw no problem) I'm sure that in those seconds my speed dropped 20 mph's with no "warning", such as brake lights had someone been behind me. Had this occurred entering a busy belt-way, interstate, etc. , you can imagine the possible may-hem. Did some research, got an appointment for service at the dealership and was told (as expected from research) their computer saw no abnormalities and showed me a blank piece of paper to prove it. Asked them to sign a piece of paper saying my drivetrain was "just wonderful" and reaffirming that Chrysler had never heard of any problems just in case I or others wound up dead or maimed from "no problems". I now have a "moral problem" sitting in my driveway and not out in the middle of the woods.

8 Brake Light problem of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/16/2013

Both brake light lamps appeared to be blown. Plastic around the lamps are scorched and discolored to brown. The black plastic under the contacts on the larger light housing assembly have melted and dropped away lower than the contacts on the light assembly socket can reach, therefore continuity is broken and neither light will work. Plastic under the contacts is now deteriorating and cracking due to the heat of the bulb or too much current draw. This lamp is also the nighttime running lamp so it will be on constantly during the evening hours. It concerns me that the plastic around this lamp is defective and cant take the heat to the point that l/r brake light system fails. Other bulbs and sockets in use in this assy. Don't appear to be affected. Is there a fire hazard?.

Failure Date: 11/15/2012

Agree 100% with complaint 10422899 and others. Replaced both rear brake light assembly's 3 times already. Plastic around contactor melts, metal no longer connects with bulb contact propetly. Issue is causing all kinds of safety, financial, legal (traffic violations, points on drivers license) problems. Including no brake lights, no working directionals. Extremely dangerous. Costly. Several safety violation warnings from law enforcement. Several close calls with potential rear collision. Operator never knows when it will or has occurred. This problem is needless and ridiculous.

17 Brake Light problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/27/2010

Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo 2000 105,000 miles got pulled over tonight for not having brake lights when the brake is pressed. Was told that I would be at fault if someone would rear end me. Searched online, there are thousands of complaints about this same issue on the make/mode of my Jeep. This is not the first time this has happened. I have had my brake light assemblies changed, I have changed numerous brake lights. According to a few sites I read, the fix is because the ground connector on the brake light housing is cheaply made and doesn't contact with the lights. This is a safety issue and there should absolutely be a recall on this issue - even after 10 years. With all the complaints online, I'm really shocked that there isn't a recall from Jeep about this very issue.

18 Brake Light problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/11/2009

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. . I have the same as all other 2000 jgc owners are having. Been using coolant every few weeks needs to be topped off. . Fan was replace due to recall. Had to replace fan control under headlight. Last year was overheating. Replaced water pump/ thermostat. Overheating again. Just replaced thermostat today. Did not fix the problem. Replaced radiator around may of 09 still having cooling problems. I replaced so many sensors that have failed that I cant remember them all. I still have 1 more year of payments on this vehicle. . Its hard to make payments when I have been buying so many parts to try to keep this car running. Bad door seals, they are too small (short or shrinking) it lets water come in back passenger area. Always smells musty inside. . Black mold in the rainy season. Taillight brake light on one only works part time. Replaced 3 door latches. Including one on rear hatch.

19 Brake Light problem of the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

22 Brake Light problem of the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/01/2008

2007 and newer Jeep Grand Cherokee and laredo has a programming defect in the brake lights. If foot is on the brake, removed then quickly reapplied the brake lights do not come back on. Only the third/center brake light comes on. This only occurs when the headlights are on so you still at least have the taillights. But no right or left bright brake light. Dealer duplicated the problem on all units in their stock. Chrysler acknowledges the problem but is doing nothing to correct it. I sold the vehicle last month as I won't drive a vehicle with defective brake lights.

Brake light issues-when the headlights are on, the brake lights go out from the research I have been doing, the manufacturer is well aware that there is a very widespread problem with these lights. This should be a recall issue, not "go to the dealer and pay the ridiculous rates for repair".

27 Brake Light problem of the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/18/2008

Vehicle: 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo 2 wheel drive 4. 0 6cyc automatic there is a chronic problem with the rear tail lights on this make and model of vehicle. The issue is with the light bulb carrier and not the wiring. The lights have gone out multiple times and require either the replacement of the bulb carrier or "playing" with the bulb until it is in a position that makes good electrical contact. I have noticed almost every similar Jeep Grand Cherokee on the road has at least one rear tail light out ! how many accidents have been caused by this problem?.

28 Brake Light problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/13/2008

My driver side tail light will not work when the lights are on at night. It works fine when I press my brake if the lights are not on. I have noticed other Jeeps while driving that are having the same problem.

29 Brake Light problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/13/2008

Recently was told, by another motorist who followed me to my driveway, that my brake lights were not working. After checking the usual defects (fuses, bulbs, relays) and not finding any problems I went online and was shocked to find multiple postings related to brake light failures on Jeep Grand Cherokees (mine is a 2000) I was also shocked that despite repeated postings on this problem ,dating back several years, that there is no safety recall for this problem. There is an obvious flaw in the manufacturing of these vehicles that cause brake lights to fail, lights that alert drivers behind you that you are in the process of slowing/stopping. This is not a safety issue? are they waiting for a tragedy to occur before they do something? the fact that people are resorting to homemade remedies rather than pay the excessive cost of replacing a deficient assembly should be troubling. I won't even get into my left turn signal randomly working, also mentioned on the message boards. Jeep can consider itself lucky that I was notified of the problem by another motorist, rather than as a result of my vehicle being rear-ended by a driver unaware that I was slowing. My 1 year old daughter would appreciate any help you could offer in addressing this issue. Thank you.

30 Brake Light problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/10/2007

Taillight grounding issues. With headlights on and pressing the brake, the taillight will go out. There is a major defect with the taillight socket/ground connector in the taillight. I've been pulled over twice for the taillight being out, and in near wrecks because of this faulty piece of hardware. There should be a recall on the taillights to fix the bulb socket/ground issue.

31 Brake Light problem of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/20/2007

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo the brake lights will not come on when the lights are on. I have read many problems with this on both the 2000 and the 2001 models. We checked to make sure the brake lights were working in the daytime, and they were, but we turned the lights on, and they would not. My wife was coming home the other night, and her friend was behind her, and when she applied the brakes, her friend no longer could see the tail lights, and by the time she realized what had happened, she had to slam on brakes to avoid slamming into her. There needs to be a recall on this, as I personally saw over 1000 complaints on this same problem.

32 Brake Light problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/30/2007

I have a 2000 Jeep gc laredo, and along with many, many other people I have numerous problems. The warped rotors are very dangerous when you have to use your brakes, especially when you have children in the car as I do, also the taillight/brake light issue, that has gotten me pulled over more than once, even though I put a new bulb in it every time. The door lock actuator that is very annoying not to mention my transmission has a shifting problem that I can't do anything about and now my radiator fan will not work so my car will overheat if I am stopped for too long.

33 Brake Light problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
