5 Headlights problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/02/2021

Halo lights in 2015 Jeep cherokee went out. This is not a light bulb replacement. You have to replace the entire headlight assembly when this happens and it is $1600 for just the part. This is not covered under my warranty so when I called Jeep to complain the person I spoke with advised me that she gets this complaint frequently. Lighting on the outside of your vehicle is important. Why would Jeep put a part on a car that you cannot replace or change a bulb and if it happens frequently it seems to me that this is a defect of some sort.

13 Headlights problem of the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/18/2019

The headlights flicker for a quarter second, and then work fine for a few minutes during night driving. This occurs on average of about once every 4 minutes of driving with the headlights on. According to Jeep forums online, this has been a known safety issue in Grand Cherokees. During night trips in rural areas, I am concerned that this issue could become more detrimental. There are no streetlights, and many whitetail deer and other hazards are made unavoidable without headlights, or with distraction caused by this flickering. This happens regardless of speed, turning, or electronics turned on. It is even more frustrating that replicating this issue is almost impossible during the daytime (when mechanics are working).

At random times while driving, while in park, and just after startup, all dashboard gauges, lights, and power goes out, headlights turn off, but the engine still runs. I cannot see what is in front of me at night, I cannot tell my speed, I cannot see my fuel level, etc. The outage lasts from 2-30 seconds before every single warning light will illuminate for a few seconds, or flicker on and off, and then return to normal. I replaced the ignition 2 years ago from a previous recall notice. This is extremely dangerous because I never know when it will happen, it could happen at night on a heavily trafficked street and I lose all power and lights!.

The next morning I tried again and all the lights went in and out completely. Providing a very dangerous satiation not only to me but other driver's. I made an appointment with the dealer (had to wait one week to get it in to service). They checked it out and said they needed to order a part and gave the Jeep back and would call when they had the part. When we took it back for the repairs they kept the Jeep for three weeks trying to fix the problem. Saying they could not figure out the fix after Chrysler told them to change a part in the computer system. When that did not work they contacted Chrysler and got a technician who advise that the headlights were the problem. The dealer change out the headlights and charged us $917. 88 for the repairs saying it was not covered by my extended warranty. I truly believe this is a Chrysler problem with electrical issues, wiring or computers and should be covered by Chrysler not by individual owners. Bi xenon hid headlamps Jeep Grand Cherokee passenger side headlight issues with design and expensive repair after 6 years as owner of this type of truck. Something as such an cars/trucks, bulbs or headlamp housing design shouldn't be such a issues on only 6 year old vehicle. Blub which cost over $99. 99oem and $300 at the dealership just for blub part plus labor. It's such a safely issues reading many message boards on other owners having concerns driving at night with one headlight being out until the repair is made or issues are fixed with this problem. Which I feel it is a problem with the design cause of all I have read about. Online. I would like to bring this matter to attention for the many disappointed consumers dealing with such issues that is related to the safety of traveling during the evening hours. Chrysler should beware of this issues in their trucks and offer recalls if known problems with the design or wiring. Just doesn't make sense a newer type of truck only 6 year old having such a type of issues in dealing with replacement of headlamp bulb which when new doesn't work. New york n. Y.

32 Headlights problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Don't drive a lot at night, but when I do the headlights to not illuminate well. They do not light the road more than maybe 30'. This is a serious safety issue, especially living in rural mountain area. Another person drove the vehicle at night and asked if the headlights were even on as they don't illuminate well, even worse in rain. Very disappointing that a basic component of vehicle doesn't function properly or safely.

33 Headlights problem of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/02/2017

On most newer cards the dashboard is digital and back-lit. Some of these cars also have very bright daytime running lights. What I have seen is that some owners inadvertently turn off the auto lights, and think they have lights on because they can see where they are going, but they lack any rear lights because the lights are not technically on. I've seen this in Jeep vehicles as an example. The only way to know your lights are on in a Jeep for example is a little green headlight icon, that is easily ignored. Something more needs to be on the dash when lights are in the off position at night.
