Headlights Problems of Jeep Grand Cherokee - part 2

Takata recall leather on the dashboard comes loose, I've taken it to Jeep to repair and it happend again. The adhesive dissolves and makes the leather bunch up. The front left headlight blinks for a few seconds every time engine starts. Engine stalls and doesn't start at times.

The front headlights and all interior electronics including lights, gauges, radio, etc. Shut off. This happens on initial startup at home and in city parking lots, also acted while the engine has been running in motion. The vehicle has to be turned off and back on repeatedly until lights and electronics begin functioning again.

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland became possessed. While driving on the freeway, lights began flashing on dash, occasional lurches from transmission, one headlight goes out at night. When I pull over and turn the car off, it will not start. It was as though everything is dead. No response from any button on the key. After about 5 minutes, the headlights began flashing and horn bleating as though emergency. I pressed the "panic" button on the key fob and it stopped. Car now started. I drove a few miles then everything began going crazy again. When I stopped, with car still running, windshield wipers began working as though on intermittent. Then they began wiping fast. I tried turning the wipers on or off, to no avail. They were working with their own mind. Dangerous! I had no idea, while driving on the freeway, if both headlights would suddenly go out (it was night while I was driving) instead of just one, transmission damage may occur (what was causing the lurching?). When I pulled over.

My passenger side headlights went out. Thinking it was a simple blown bulb I brought it in to the dealership where I bought the Jeep less than 2 months prior. They said not only was it not a blown bulb but that my entire front light had to be rewired. Two months later the exact same thing happened to my drivers side. How is this possible on a truck less than 2 years old? and rewired would indicate faulty wiring in the first place.

Automatic headlight dimmer not sensitive to oncoming cars. Must now use manual dimmer. Not good for my older wife.

I purchased 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee altitude with the standard headlights last year. These headlights are very dim and should be considered dangerous. They might be fine in a city with street lights but on country roads the low beams barely light the road and the spill into the ditches do nothing but light the edges. The high beams should be considered the low beams if they weren't pointed so high. The dealership I purchased it from won't do anything about the brightness because that is how they are from the factory, they did say they would adjust them if I thought they weren't pointed correctly. My parents have a 2016 Jeep cherokee and have the same issue. My mother if she had a choice, would refuse to drive it at dusk or later. The weak headlights are a huge concern this time of the year because deer are a very real hazard in my area. I have attached an image of the low beams while vehicle was parked. The tree line is about 10 yards away. The picture doesn't do justice to how crappy these lights are when driving. At this point in time I'm forced to purchase aftermarket headlights for a new vehicle to rectify an issue that is putting my family in danger. By doing so may void warranty repairs. The following events happened over a period of 2 weeks. When in motion on highway, instrument panel lost power, then came back on and all control panel lights lit up, then went off. While in motion on highway, instrument panel went blank--cycled on and off several times then returned to normal. When engine was off, ignition was off and key was out of ignition, lights were turned off, headlights turned on and off twice for no reason. While driving on highway on slight incline, engine lost power for a few seconds then returned to normal. Vehicle has been to a certified Jeep repair shop and they could not find the problem. Stock headlights are very dim, making visibility poor. This is an accident waiting to happen. This condition should prompt a recall. I have never driven a vehicle where visibility was made so poor at night. When turning right, you could never see a pedestrian if they were to your right. Not good!.

Passenger side headlamp does not come on in daytime. At dusk, when the sensor turns on brighter lamps; this passenger side headlamp works. At time, when raining or when I want to be seen, I will manually turn on both headlights. Now the passenger side light will not come on during the day; however it will come on with the automatic dusk feature. I see many "one-sided" daytime running headlamps in the newer model Jeeps prior to the new led rope lighting headlamp feature implemented in 2014. The auto dealer will happily replace the ballast and assembly for $500. 00. In my mind, this is a defect known to the maker which is why a new type of lighting was implemented. It worked fine until several months ago. Even thought it's just annoying; it doesn't seem right. It was suggested I check in with this website to see if there are other complaints.

Takata recall. Headlights randomly flicker or shut off while driving on highway.

Automatic light sensor will turn off headlights at night while driving.

Transmission seems to hesitate when I initially start driving (as if it is struggling with the gear) then it jumps. Gear also appears to be at #5 when I am under 40mph. Does not feel right and just recently started doing this. Only has 5500 miles on it. Then it seems at times that the front headlights flicker while driving when it is dark out.

The halogen headlight Grand Cherokee limited(without luxury group ii, which the hid headlight comes with) is too dim during the night especially raining night. Hardly to see lines or objects. I went to a dealership asked them if I can upgrade it to hid headlight with my own cost, they said no. And the 2016 Grand Cherokee also use the same halogen headlight.

A friend told me that I had a headlight out. My dash was not showing that I had a light out and I couldn't tell when I was driving. I took it to advance auto parts to buy a new headlight. At that time, the headlight was working fine. I took it to a shop where they told me that they would have to take the front of the car off in order to replace it. They said that the issue was with the ballast and that they could not fix it.

The headlights, dashboard light, and interior lights all flicker spontaneously. The headlights have went completely out at night while driving. Sometimes the headlights do not come on at all or takes several attempts before coming on. At times the headlights and interior lights will flicker on and off for several seconds before cutting off. When raining and using the windshield wipers and headlights the lights will flicker on and off. This has been occurring for over a year and I am unable to drive the vehicle at night for fear of the lights going out.

While driving on the freeway at night my headlights started blinking on and off at a very fast pace. I could not get them to stop blinking. I was able to put my bright lights on and it stopped. This has happed many times over the past month. The cars in front of me think I am trying to make them pull over and let me by. This week my headlights came on during the daytime and they were in the off position. I never had them on. I am afraid to drive at night with this condition. My headlights come on when I use my key remote to unlock my doors. It is not set to do this and we can not get it to stop. When I turn the car off and back on again this will reset the headlights from blinking but they always start again while I am driving. I can not find anybody that knows what the problem is.

Headlights randomly blink at normal or highway speeds while in motion, sometimes during park mode.

While driving the vehicle at night, the dash panel lights and headlights began to flicker on and off repeatedly. Turned the headlights off then back on and the problem went away for a few minutes then started again. The next day the service engine soon light came on and I lost acceleration ability, rpm's went up but the vehicle wouldn't accelerate while already in gear on a main road at a stop sign. Codes p0700 and p2767 were set.

The dealer replaced the bulb twice, but was unable to provide an extensive diagnosis to determine if there was an internal electrical failure. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v115000 (electrical system) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable timeframe to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not provide a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repair. The failure mileage was unknown.

On Jan 7, 2015, while I was driving towards the garage, my vehicle (grand cherokee 2013) suddenly (unexpectedly) accelerated and, although I pressed the brake pedal, it crashed against the wall. The vehicle activated airbags burning and bruising my body; I went to the er and received medical assistance. Some of the parts replaced for this crash included, bumper and hood assemblies, a/c ducts and evaporator, grille, radiator, headlight, computer, wiper wash canister, water pump, fan, seat belt and one fender, etc. In addition the crash toll caused structural damages to the property. The service shop completed the repairs on Feb 27, 2015. On March 2 and may 20, 2015 I took the vehicle to the authorized service center because of transmission shifting failures. They finally changed the whole transmission by may 29, 2015. On July 2 I took it back to the service center because there was a noisy riding and check engine was on; by July 16 they had replaced one shock absorber, the gas pump and tank, and one oxygen sensor (mileage at this point 22,594). On July 22, 2015 I went back again because of check engine and they kept the vehicle for replacing the catalyst. Because of the unexpected acceleration event, all abovementioned repairs, plus five executed recalls (one still open r909/NHTSA 14v-115) and an imminent sixth recall for start button (that does not shuts off); I don¿t trust this vehicle¿s safety and quality. I¿m afraid of hurting me or someone else; I could not afford repairs at upcoming warranty expiry. Therefore, I hope you buy back this defective Grand Cherokee 2013.

My 2005 Grand Cherokee has on several occasions turned itself off while driving down the road. The last time this happened was at night and raining and the windshield wipers, headlights and everything shut off for several seconds while driving down the road. Because of this a tractor trailer pulled out in front of me with my children in the car and we were nearly killed. I had no lights, windshield wipers, the brakes and steering were very difficult etc. I took it to the dealer today and they stated that there is a recall for this however no fix for the issue at this time?!?!?!?! this is completely unacceptable as my vehicle is completely useless, it is not worth my families lives to take the chance of driving it.

The headlights leveling was not working and the headlights shown about 25 feet infront of the car and would not raise up. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the head light leveling sensor showed a fault code that it had failed but it was not acting up when they checked it out. They said bring it back when it fails constantly. It is now failing constantly. Have not taken it back to the dealer yet.

My Jeep Grand Cherokee hasn't been starting regularly for about 3 months. Four days ago the headlights turned off while I was driving, yesterday it wouldn't start at all. Currently having the tipm replaced to the tune of $1100.

Headlights began to flicker on and off- unable to see pedestrian - did not hit pedestrian but almost did-have contacted Chrysler and milton ruben where I purchased car- they say they have no parts to fix it even though I received a recall notice September 2015 that said I would receive another notice- I have not received anything else-it is dangerous driving especially at night and when it is raining- is there anything I can do to get this safety recall fixed? thank you.

Automatic headlight dimmer system - high-beam to low-beam non-operable. I believe the sensor device behind the rearview mirror is faulty.

Which made it very difficult to drive the vehicle. In addition the headlights have been replaced consecutive through the past 4 months. Since I purchased my Jeep in 2014, I have an ongoing problem with the headlights. It's very difficult to drive at night, as the headlights, even on bright are not bright enough to drive. I must use my bright lights the entire time when I have to drive at night. This is a major safety issue and I have mentioned it to the dealer whenever I have to take my car in. I've read several other complaints about this very same problem. I was considering purchasing another Jeep, but I'm afraid this problem will on any other one I may buy. If I am involved in an accident, I want to be on record about this very serious issue.
