1 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

The car keeps saying the turn signals are out when they all function properly. The car is equipped with the led factory headlight systems. When it thinks the bulb is out it makes everything flash or turn off so other drivers can’t see your signal. Several other users are also reporting issues online. Dealer says the only way to fix is an entirely new head light assembly at $1300 since the turn signal bulbs are built into the headlight and should be a lifetime part.

2 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

While my wife was driving our 2023 plug-in hybrid SUV, the vehicle suddenly lost all power steering assist. The steering wheel became extremely hard to turn and she could not safely control the vehicle. I had to verbally guide her to pull over into a very unsafe area because the vehicle became nearly impossible to steer. The failure happened instantly with no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms. The vehicle was completely undriveable. I had to call a tow truck and pay out of pocket to have it towed directly to an authorized dealer. We were forced to take an uber home. The dealer confirmed that this model currently has multiple active safety recalls, including recalls involving high-voltage battery fire risk and potential loss of propulsion, and that they could not inspect the vehicle immediately due to limited staffing. This incident posed a significant crash and injury risk because the driver was unable to steer the vehicle with normal force. The sudden loss of steering assist created a dangerous situation on a public road and required emergency towing. The vehicle is now at the dealership awaiting inspection, and the failure can be inspected upon request.

3 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/12/2025

This applies to all vehicles not just this one. The bulbs should be designed and able to be changed in the lot of a store not only by a dealer. I will be forwarding this to my rep and the white house. This bs has been going on for decades and this department has allowed this extreme safety concern to continue. Lights can burn out anywhere and anytime and to make this dealer maintenance is bs since they all have backlogs, limited hours and limited qualified workers.

4 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/08/2025

Headlights will completely go out at night just at random, sometimes it's only one and sometimes it both completely. Yet the high beams and fog lights will work when activated even when the regular lights will not. Has been an ongoing issue for a while now, and upon talking to other Jeep Grand Cherokee owners of around the same year model they complain that there's do it randomly as well, and I've seen a lot of forums talking about this issue.

5 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/23/2025

- the core component that failed is the totally integrated power module (tipm). The failure was initiated by a fault in the external fuel pump relay (v62 safety recall remedy part), which caused improper power delivery. This improper power delivery subsequently damaged the fuel pump motor, requiring replacement of both components. This failure has cascaded, also disabling the circuits for the engine cooling fan (codes p0480/p0693) and exterior lighting (headlights/b1630), and the horn. I am in possession of the burnt-out fuel pump relay/fuse component. -the engine stalled while the vehicle was operating, the exact hazard the v62 recall was meant to prevent. This was followed by a catastrophic tipm breakdown, creating new, simultaneous safety risks: overheating/fire risk: the cooling fan circuit failed (p0480/p0693), causing severe engine overheating. No headlights: the headlights failed (b1630), causing total loss of visibility at night. No horn: the horn failed, eliminating the ability to warn other drivers. - yes. The initial engine stall and subsequent no-start condition (due to a blown relay fuse) were confirmed by an independent service center (monro). The cascading failures (overheating, horn, lights) and the diagnostic codes (p0480, p0693, b1630, c2201-00) were confirmed on 11/1. - the vehicle was inspected by an independent service center (monro), who returned the failed recall component to me (relay). Recommend it go to a certified Jeep dealership. It is waiting to be towed there. -the first warning was a history of intermittent starting difficulty. On 10/23, the engine stalled while operating and immediately resulted in a no-start condition. The check engine light illuminated after the subsequent failed restart attempts.

6 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/17/2025

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at night, it was difficult to see the roadway clearly. The contact stated that she had issues with cataracts and attributed the lack of illumination on the road to her condition. The contact stated that she avoided driving at night until she had to attend an event at night and asked her son to drive. The contact’s son also witnessed the lack of illumination on the roadway from the headlights. The contact stated that after returning to the residence, the contact’s son parked the vehicle facing a wall, and both observed that the passenger’s side headlamp was illuminating the driveway directly below and in front of the vehicle, and the driver's side headlight was illuminating the trees. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer, and the headlight assemblies were taken apart and then reinstalled and recalibrated. The contact stated that the dealer was unable to repair the headlights and stated that there was a fault in the headlamp assemblies that could not be repaired. The contact stated that the same dealer had replaced both headlamps in 2019 due to a failure to operate as needed. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,875.

Failure Date: 09/08/2025

Vehicle will all of a sudden shut off with out warning while driving. It has shut off while in motion going about 25miles per hour . I hurry and put it in park and restart it. It has restarted every time. Sometime the lights on the dash will flash for a moment but has only done that 2 times out of the 10 that it has shut off while driving.

9 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/10/2025

Recall 24v-838 has been open on my vehicle since November 2024. I have contacted multiple dealerships and they have no updates on when parts will be available to complete the recall. Possible issues related to the recall pose serious safety concerns.

10 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/08/2025

1. Failure appears to involve the vehicle’s electrical control and communication systems, specifically (bcm), (tipm), and/or can bus network. The malfunction caused multiple vehicle systems to activate or fail simultaneously, including windshield wipers, warning indicators, and the transmission shift interlock. The vehicle has been at a repair facility since the incident and remains available for inspection upon request. Nothing has been removed/discarded w/o documentation. 2. The malfunction created a serious safety risk while the vehicle was in operation. All warning lights illuminated at once, the windshield wipers activated without driver input and would not turn off, and the vehicle experienced difficulty shifting and limited drivability. The unpredictable activation and loss of control over critical systems impaired the driver’s ability to safely operate the vehicle and created a risk of becoming stranded or disabled in traffic, posing a danger to both the driver and other road users. 3. Yes. The vehicle was taken immediately to an independent service center following the incident and has remained there due to the severity of the malfunction. The service center confirmed abnormal electrical behavior and initiated further diagnostic evaluation. 4. The vehicle has been inspected by an independent service center. The manufacturer has not yet conducted a direct inspection. No police inspection was performed, as no collision occurred. 5. No warning symptoms were observed prior to the failure. The malfunction occurred suddenly and without warning on August 8. At the time of the incident, all warning lights illuminated simultaneously, and abnormal vehicle behavior began immediately.

11 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/01/2025

The rear turn signal on the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee is very small. Following vehicles seem to have difficulty in seeing a signaled turn. This condition is exacerbated when driving into the sun. On several occasions, when attempting a left-hand turn and stopped for oncoming traffic, following vehicles have had to brake hard to avoid a rear end collision. This puts the occupants of both vehicles at risk for injury. It is unknown if this condition has been reported to the manufacturer. Because it is a design issue it is unlikely to be resolved by a dealer. The turn signal indicator in the instrument panel was functioning and a visual conformation of the functioning turn signal was made after the incident.

12 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/18/2025

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? front passenger hid headlight on 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee summit v8, 45,000 miles. Yes how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? went out while driving at night, making it difficult to adequately see. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes, it seems to be a known problem with these particular type of lights. I had a 2015 and it had the exact same issue. But before it was adequately diagnosed by the dealer, both headlights were affected and the fix was to replace the entire headlight assembly and replacement was quoted ~ $5000. I currently have the exact same model but 2020 and as of 6/18/25, it is starting to have the same issue. I called the dealer yesterday, 6/19, and was told that the lights are known not to last. If this is a "known" issue than why has Jeep continued to use the same lights putting people at risk at having headlights go out while driving???? has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no, I immediately noticed my drive was darker and visibility was difficult in the dark.

13 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/05/2025

To whom it may concern, I am writing to express my deep frustration and serious concerns regarding the repeated and dangerous failures I have experienced with the battery systems in three separate Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles – model years 2022, 2024, and now 2025 4xe. In each case, I encountered a complete battery failure within the first 3,000 miles of the car’s life. These failures have not only rendered the vehicles completely inoperable but have completely shut down all functionality while driving, leaving me stranded on the road an outright dangerous design flaw with zero warning or alert of malfunction. At first, I considered the possibility of coincidence or simple bad luck. Now, it is evident this is a systemic and known issue that stellantis/Jeep has failed to address. It is absolutely unacceptable that a brand-new Jeep product could exhibit such a fundamental reliability defect, and even more troubling that no proactive support or acknowledgment has been provided to affected consumers like myself. This is disgraceful, inexcusable, and beneath the standards expected of any automaker, let alone one that charges a premium for its products. This situation also raises serious questions about the strategic direction the company may have taken under their former ceo, carlos tavares, whose well-documented focus on near-term cost-cutting and margin improvements appears to be manifesting in subpar quality control and dangerous engineering compromises. I demand to know what stellantis is prepared to do in response to the severe design flaw and associated safety risks with the new battery and electrical systems in their Jeep products.

14 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/17/2025

I was pulling into the gas station to get some gas. I'm used to use a 2-ft drive so what I could not lift my left foot to put pressure on the brake I used my right foot. It slipped off the brake and after the accelerator and I hit a small pole stopping me from going into the gas station front door. Just could have been raised up to a work accident I had a couple weeks prior.

16 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/07/2025

17 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/21/2025

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the low beam headlights were inoperable. The contact attempted to set the headlight knob from automatic to manual however, the low beam headlights failed to function as needed. The contact stated that the high beam headlights and running lights operated as designed. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who checked the fuse box and determined that the fuses for the lighting system were functioning as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

18 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/26/2024

When the lights are set on auto mode the high beams feature will not work. You push the steering column cluster switch forward to turn on high beams and it kicks it back immediately and will not turn on high beams. This is a huge safety issue. We've had to drive through wooded areas at night with elk and deer on the roads and almost been hit. Jeep needs to recall this and modify to allow high beam while using the auto headlight setting.

19 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/25/2024

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 24v838000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made an abnormal grinding sound. The electronic stability control (esc), traction control, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the brake lights illuminated while the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The dealer informed the contact that parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

20 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/18/2024

High beams only working when physically holding the handle down. Automatic high beams not working at all and won’t come on unless you turn off automatic high beams. We took it into flow Jeep in charlottesville today where they told us they had heard about this issue from others, but that Dodge Jeep had not found fix and continue to claim it works as it’s supposed to. That cannot be when you cannot get the high beams to come on without physically holding the paddle. They cut the automatic highbeams on, which now means I cannot get my highbeams to come on at all unless I physically hold the handle down. You cannot drive holding that down the entire time. The car is now not sensing when it’s evening time and changing the interior lighting, so it’s not as bright. I have to go in and physically change that. We live in the country. This is a huge safety risk. We need Jeep to fix this.

21 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/16/2024

The hid headlights failed and is available for inspection. Can't drive in the dark or rain, less visible to other motorists. Yes, confirmed by dealer. No other inspections. No notices were given. My friend noticed it and we drove home from an event at night with running lights. Numerous other Jeep Grand Cherokees have the same issue and do have the recall and repair available, but for some reason the summit was overlooked and should be placed in the recall ASAP. Clearly, this is a Jeepwide problem and not limited by VIN number.

22 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/05/2024

I was driving on the interstate when dark (during the evening hours). I had the headlights on via the "auto" position. Without any warning the dashboard lights and headlights shut off. This has happened on two different occasions, 11/5/2024 and 11/13/2024. After stopping, shutting off the car and restarting the lights resumed working. I have since taken the car to a Jeep dealership for repair. The dealership told me they need support from Chrysler and that I needed to contact Chrysler to set up a case. I did that on 11/21/2024. After making that initial contact Chrysler has been unresponsive.

23 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/17/2024

Failure Date: 09/07/2024

Automatic headlight dimmer not working. Long delay to turn on bright lights. Dangerous lack of visibility.

25 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/13/2024

My low beam headlight has blown for the second time now since owning the car. This is not normal!!! there clearly must be some electrical issue and I’m past the warranty. Headlights don’t blow like that. I’ve owned cars for over 6 years and never had a headlight blow.

26 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/09/2024

When headlights are in auto position the automatic high beam does not function. Driver can not override and turn headlights to high or low. Very dangerous. Limits visibility. Increases risk of collis.

27 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/14/2024

Ok July 14th 1:30 pm we got into car to go to lunch started driving and smoke started coming from the headliner and smelled like burning plastic on driver side near visor, smoke filled the car we were able to roll down windows and able to stop the car. The area continued to emit smoke and area on headliner felt hot. After turing the car off the smoke/ fire continued and had to locate the battery under passenger seat to disconnect power. Extremely stressful and scary situation as we have grandchildren and an elderly mother that we care for. I called Chrysler on 7/16/2024 spoke with kayla she gave me a case number and informed me I would receive a phone call. I never got a call, so I called today 7/22/24 spoke with ash she informed me this is not under warranty and my call was sent to a survey . I called back spoke with druba she told me I can expect a call within 24-48 hours .

28 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/10/2024

When I'm driving down the road my car won't shut off. I have to pull over to the side of the road turn my key completely off and take it out put it back in and start it. It takes a couple of times to get it started as I have to move the key back and forth and then it will start. I did a check engine light check. And it is saying something about a anti-theft ignition problem. My headlights stay on all the time and blink when it is shut off.

29 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/20/2024

Driving home on dark, deserted roads, my brights will not click on. When I click, nothing happens. When I hold the turner back in the mode to “flash my brights”, the bright headlights will come on. I had to drive holding this back almost an hour so I could see. I had a mechanic look and he said the switch is wired to the computer, so it is not an easy fix, but will have to go to the dealership. This is a safety issue. Dealerships are far from me and expensive. I’ve never had this issue with a vehicle before, when all lights are functioning. It should be recalled and fixed by the manufacturer.

30 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/22/2024

Today after I parked my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and locked it I noticed my brake lights stayed illuminated. I got back in my car and confirmed that I was in park and my parking brake was on and my brake pedal did not feel stuck down in any way. I also tried turning my headlamps from auto to off. That didn’t resolve my brake light issue. I restarted it and put it in gear and drove a little and my fiancé confirmed from outside the car that even when in drive and moving without my foot on brake my brake lights stayed on. I got out and locked it again and then tried my remote start which did not function. I then decided to try drive around a little more and see if it would reset itself. Nothing changed with driving. Then after driving around I tried turning off my park sense button and the brake light went off and back to normal. Once I was parked again I retried the remote start and it worked. When I looked up this issue it sounded like symptoms of recall z48 which was repaired June 29, 2022 by my dealer. Tomorrow I will see if it happens again and if it will start and shift without brake pedal pressed as that is also related to recall z48. Could the repair for recall z48 have failed or was not done properly by my dealer? just for reference my Jeep only has 11,000 miles on it.

31 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/15/2024

High beam headlamp control not equipped with auto high beams feature does not turn on the high beam headlamps when requested if the master lighting switch is set to auto headlamp position.

32 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/08/2024

The computer system keeps intermittently saying the turn signal bulbs are out turning off the front signal when you want to use it. The bulbs are a bunch of led’s in the headlight and it shouldn’t turn off all of them even if one is out (they are all working properly regardless). It seems to be a fault within the computer system either inside the headlight assembly or in the car.

33 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee
