The contact owns a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the fuel tank fell from the vehicle due to the straps fracturing from corrosion. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician diagnosed that the fuel tanks and straps needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 175,000 and the current mileage was 219,000. . . Updated 03/18/14 the consumer stated the gas tank and straps were replaced.
