The vehicle stalled while driving. After being stranded and then having the vehicle towed, it was figured out that the vehicle had a faulty fuel gauge. It displayed 1/4 tank of gas left in the tank when in actuality there was no fuel left. Erratic readings have been shown since the incident.

While traveling on the highway and without prior warning, the vehicle shut down and failed to restart. It was discovered the fuel tank had a fungus growing inside of the tank causing the fuel pump to clog up.

I took it to shakopee Dodge to fix the leak. $374. 19 later, it's fixed. I called Chrysler to argue that I shouldn't have to pay for this, as it's a safety concern. They chose not to support me, and said they could do nothing.

The second occurrence was like the first except it occurred on the highway while traveling approximately 65 mph.

While stopped at an intersection the rear of the Jeep Grand Cherokee was struck by an isuzu, driven approcimately 40 miles per hour. The crash resulted in a fire in the rear of the cherokee and the driver of the isuzu being burned to death. Placement of the fuel tank was claimed to be responsible for the post accident fire.

Fuel pump failed while parked. Pump replaced with oem part. Failed 3 days later after driving about 30 miles. Mechanic reports that gas tank was clean and no problems appeared. Only major brand gasoline has been used in this vehicle. A recall should be issued on this problem as it could cause a serious accident if the engine stalled due to fuel failure. In addition this appears to be a manufactures related problem. This recurring problem also causes and corrided of confidence in the vehicle and will relate to a decrease in this vehicles popularity. There was a recall regarding the issue, however the vehicle identification number was not included in the recall. Fuel gauge registers 1/8 to 1/4 fuel levelwhen tank is empty. Have to refuel at 1/4 tank full or higher.

This vehicle has been to the dealer 3 times for fuel leaking from the top of the tank after filling it up at the gas station. Fuel pump was replaced as well as tank. Condition goes away and then returns again 9-12 months after repair. Obdviously parts are failing for the same reason. Car will lose approx. 3 gallons after leaving gas station driving down the road. Someone is going to end up dead if they dont correct this. Vehicle is out of warranty, but problem is related to the same recall. I cant afford the parts and labor to repair it, leaving me no choice but to drive it.

Vehicle would not start, had vehicle towed to dealer. Dealer advises that fuel tank is decomposing and has collapsed, causing fuel pump to fail. Dealer will replace fuel tank and pump under extended warranty. Advised tanks are on back order and repair date is undetermined. Have had rental through extended warranty plan for ten days. Dealer will allow five days of car rental at their cost. Will take longer then five days to receive pump and will be without a vehicle.
