1 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2000 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 10/24/2009

I too brought a Jeep cherokee from a used dealership in 2008, it is a 2000 4l 6i also, same issues, the week after I brought the car the engine blew, the dealer would not cover it because they sent it to their mechanic shop and of course the mechanic shop said it wasn't the dealers fault, they told me that a rock hit the fan and put a small hole in the engine. . . I spent close to 1200 getting the engine rebuilt. Car ran for a little while then the check coolant light kept coming on, I had to keep a bottle of coolant in my car and the coolant would run out every 2-3 weeks. Then in oct the engine blew again, my car is currently parked until I can find a low mileage engine to replace the old one. I do believe that this is a flaw in the design. Meanwhile I am still paying a car payment and having to work to get money to fix my car. . . Ughhhh.

2 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2001 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 03/11/2007

The low coolant light comes on and depending on the outside temperate the vehicle will either overheat, have no heat or provide a/c cooling only while driving and not while sitting idle. I've had repairs and coolant flushes. The repairs last one week and then the low coolant light comes on again and the issues start all over again.

3 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2000 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 12/01/2005

My 2000 Jeep cherokee Laredo began experiencing a coolant leak and abnormally high coolant use, use that I noticed almost immediately after purchasing my vehicle used in August 2005. In December while getting the oil changed my mechanic indicated that there was a large amount of antifreeze in my oil. My mechanic suspected that there may be a problem with the head gasket or perhaps even a cracked head. When the head was removed he discovered that the entire head had been machined incorrectly. All of the holes that surround the piston chamber and allow antifreeze to flow through had been machined approximately 1/2-3/4 of an inch off center which would make it difficult/impossible for a gasket to property seal. My mechanic contacted daimler-Chrysler to see if there has been any recalls to the engine and there was not. A representative that he had contact with indicated that approximately 32 of these head are replaced each week, he did not indicate whether or not that was from the same engine or from different engines manufactured by daimler Chrysler. The cost to replace the head with a remanufactured head was approximately $1400. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

4 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2001 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 02/10/2005

Multiple failures with my 2001 Jeep grand cherokee just beyond the 3/36 warranty. The vehicle now has 55,000 miles: 1. Vehicle required a complete front brake overhaul: new pads, rotors, calipers. Also, . Hood props failed; 3. Water pump failed, window regulator failed, and rear hatch props beginning to fail these incidents all occurred between 36,000 and 55,000 miles (2004-2005). Eep takes no responsibility for anything beyond 36,000 miles. They offer extremely poor customer service at the corporate office. I strongly recommed against purchasing Jeep products.
