40 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2007

My vehicle, a 2004 Jeep Liberty, has been safety recalled (f23) for lower ball joint replacement. Although I had heard of the recall in fall of 2006 my dealer would not take action until I received formal notification of the recall which I received in early January 2007. Shortly after receiving the recall notice I contacted my dealer to make an appointment. Dealer informed me that parts were on order and not expected for at least a month. My name was added to a wait list. I contacted the dealer today and was informed that parts would not be available until may 2007. I feel this is an unreasonable time to correct what daimlerchrysler characterizes as a condition that "can result in a loss of steering control and can cause a crash without prior warning". And I'm supposed to keep driving it? updated.

50 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2007

My 2004 Jeep Liberty has a recall for the (f23) lower ball joints. I took my vehicle into a Jeep dealership on 18 January to have the problem corrected. I was told that the parts were on backorder through Chrysler and that it would be at least 6 weeks until they arrived. On 2 February, approximately 8:00 am, I was leaving my home for the airport. I was still in my driveway thankfully when the accident occurred. My vehicle had a sudden jolt and the right side of the Jeep fell, burying my right front tire. The lower ball joints had separated with no warning. It caused additional damage to the tire and undercarriage. I would hate to think what would have happened if I were on the road or highway. This recall is so severe! this will cause deaths if someone doesn't do something about it. How can they not have enough parts for such a severe recall??? my Jeep was towed to the a dealership. They did manage to fix it along with the additional damage that this recall caused.

I recently received a letter about a lower ball joint recall on my 2004 Jeep Liberty. Although the manufacturer fixed the recall I was informed at the time of service that I now have to spend $40 to have the automobile aligned due to the recall service. 56 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2007

I recently received notification of a safety recall for my 2004 Jeep Liberty with regard to the lower ball joints. The problem is that water may enter into the front suspension lower ball joints on my Jeep. This can cause the ball joint to corrode and separate. Ball joint separation can result in a loss of steering control and could cause a crash without prior warning. I contacted my dealership in order to get the part ordered and line up an appointment to have the repairs completed. The dealership was contacted on 01/24/07. . The day after I first received notification of the safety issue. They informed me that they would order the part and call me to set up an appointment to as soon as the part came in. I had not heard from the dealership, so I called them on 02/13/07 to inquire about the "ordered" part. There was no record of a part being ordered. Therefore, I placed the order again on that day and asked if someone could call me back to give me an idea of when I could be scheduled for an appointment and how long it would take for the part to come in. I have not been contacted since that last call. I was told by the phone attendant at the dealership that the manufacturer is only sending the service area 3 ball joints at a time--and that is why its taking so long for me to be serviced. I asked the attendant how serious was this recall and if I was in any danger. She asked me if my car was operating properly and I told her yes to my knowledge it was, and she told me that I was probably ok. I would really like to know why it is taking so long to have my car serviced and should the dealerships be taking such a cavalier approach to this recall?.

Failure Date: 01/15/2007

Chrysler sends out recall information to customers owning 2002-2006 Jeep Liberty's. Safety recall f23-lower ball joints. This letter is enough to scare the hell out of anyone especially driving around with my child. Telling me my vehicle could loose steering and cause a crash without prior warning and yet they are only sending out 2-3 parts a week to the dealers. I called as soon as I got the letter a week ago. There is still 43 people a head of me, so therefore this is going to be weeks like 14 weeks before my car can be fixed. To send a letter out to people explaining the danger of this and to contact your dealer right away. They are concerned for our safety. This makes me feel very upset and scared to drive myself around town and even more so having my child in the car with me. I am outraged that they would scare people like this and make you wait months to get the problem fixed. I feel like taking my vehicle and trading it in on another make. I can not believe they are making customers ride around in fear.
