36 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2010

Window regulator has broke and window will not stay up.

37 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2010

1. Operating normally 2. Power window failure. Occurs every 20k miles of normal use. Failure due to a broken plastic bracket that attaches the window to the regulator wire coil. When failure occurs, window may slip down resulting in possible weather damage and security risks. 3. The factory fix is costly and doesn't replace the plastic bracket. The permanent fix is to replace that bracket with a metal one for about $90 + 1 hrs labor per window.

38 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2010

I own a 2006 Jeep Liberty and this morning I was rolling down the window when I heard a pop and was unable to return the rear left passenger window to the closed position. I searched about this problem and found that this is becoming a common problem among 2006 Jeep liberties. A forum suggested that I report it. I had not experienced any problems before this incident.

39 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2010

I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty that I purchased 6 mos ago with 25,000 miles. The back passenger window has stopped working. Still researching repair estimates.

40 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2010

I am writing to give a complaint about the 2006 Jeep Liberty. On numerous occasions throughout purchasing the vehicle, we have had to have the power window regulator and glass replaced. The glass falls into the door and will not roll up. The first time, and even second, I was able to take it in stride and accept it, paying the large sum to get it fixed. However, as this continues to happen on at least 4 other occasions - two of which happened within five days of each other in mid September 2010 - I am quite discouraged. I now have one window still down - passenger front - and it is currently taped up. However, in florida weather, it frequently melts and falls down. This leaves my car window down and exposed in public while I am at work - which could lead to many dangers. I am sick of taking my car in every few months because Jeep cannot simply fix this problem. I paid a price for my car, and could easily have bought another car by now with the money I have spent on fixing the windows in this car - around 350 to 500 a pop for each time. This is ridiculous and Jeep should be held accountable for the default.

41 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2010

2006 Jeep Liberty passenger side rear window falls on its own and will not come back up.

42 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

Faulty window regulators in Jeep Liberty. Window falls without warring. Windows do not have to be in use at the time they fall. Repair is $400. Dealership advised this is a common recurring problem, and may continue to happen after repair.

43 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2010

I was driving home in my 2006 Jeep Liberty, when the back passenger side power window fell again! this is the second time this week that one of the power windows fall. I have had this window and two other windows serviced for this very problem before and it and Chrysler continues to be unable to fix it! when it fell, it was raining, and I had to hurry to get home because it was raining inside of the Jeep. I should not have to keep a garbage bag in my vehicle just in case my window falls. This seems to happen to at least two windows every three or four months for us. When we bring it to the service department, it seems to work fine for a while until sooner or later it falls again. They tell us that a plastic clip holds the window up, and the window falls when the clip gives out. It seems like this plastic clip must be pretty weak to go out as often as this! we don't even put the window up or down at all. The service department says that the part can go out whether the window is in use or not because of the tension it holds. When asked about any recalls on this part, their response was that recalls are only issued when a safety violation can occur. It is a safety violation to me! when the windows fall, and my children are in the car and it is storming outside that certainly affects my driving because I am concerned for the safety of my kids! I wonder what damage would be caused if the window falls and shatters inside the door? how would Chrysler respond to that? Chrysler seems to take this as no big deal, but I believe that someone can get seriously injured because of this defect. Can we please get something done about this before something does happen to someone?.

44 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2010

Within the last year all four windows on my 2006 Jeep Liberty have failed, one of them for the second time since I have owned the car. The first window failed September of 2009. I had my window partly down and when I went to roll it up it made a terrible noise and the glass fell into the door. I paid to have it repaired which cost me $600. In August of 2010 the back two windows began to fall into the door on their own, I had not tried to roll them down, as I was driving. This happened within a week of each other. When I took it to the dealer they suggested I call Jeep to request help. Jeep agreed to repair both of these windows for me. Within one week of the repair the front passenger side window fell into the door as I came to a stop in a parking lot. I am currently waiting to hear from Jeep about the repair of this window. I cannot believe that this happened to my car five times in total, (the first window went out about three years ago. ).

45 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2010

I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The windows have broken three times. They fall into the door and cannot be raised. When this happens, the window is stuck in the full down position and is a great risk as objects can fly into the car. . . And great risks when parking overnight and the window not being able to be raised. This the third window broken, with one broken twice. The windows get fixed at a dealership at a cost of $100 per window and require me to miss a half to a full day of work depending on the service repair volume.

46 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2010

Window regulators for Jeep Liberty.

47 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2010

My windows are falling into the well of my 2006 Jeep Liberty doors for no reason at all. Dealers are not openly offering to replace with updated parts. I was told that the cost would be up to $500 per window and offering to have Chrysler make good of the defect. I was told the window regulators were defected and that Chrysler was aware of the problem. If you know there is a problem, just have the dealer replace and file with Chrysler to make this a "good service policy".

48 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2010

I bought my 2006 Jeep Liberty in 2007 (February) with about 15,000 miles on it. The warranty was still good for a little longer at that time. In that time at 2 of regulators on two different windows had to be replaced. Since that time 2 more have been replaced out of my own pocket. Now here in September 2010 the back driver side window is doing it again. The window will fall down out of place when rolled up and when you try to roll it up the motor will grind and the window will not go anywhere. This needs to be taken care of; people are out hundreds of dollars for this issue.

49 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2010

2006 Jeep Liberty sport 4 x 4 window regulator failure: about to leave for work and found a rear window down on my Jeep. When I tried to use the button to raise it a loud grinding noise occurred and the window would not go up. Chrysler dealership charged me $442. 73 to replace the regulator with, what the representative said, was the new type that Chrysler uses now. Rep also said I had to buy a new window glass because the new regulator was not guaranteed to work with the old glass. The new glass is not tinted to match the other car windows. There are thousands of complaints posted online, from Jeep Liberty owners, who have had the same problem repeatedly. There is an online petition to Chrysler to recall these vehicles and absorb the expense of having these faulty regulators replaced. There is a class action suit against volks wagen for this same problem. Not knowing when one of your car windows will drop is a safety hazard. There is a potential for broken glass, a dangerous driving distraction, and I was not secure in my car, though having all doors locked, my window would not go up. This leaves the car open to easy theft. Since Chrysler is using a "new" window regulator, that doesn't fit the old glass, it must know of the widespread problem of their faulty original regulators. In the thousands of posted consumer complaints, regarding this problem, it shows the problem has been going on for years. Customers are paying hundreds of dollars for replacement costs.

50 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2010

2006 Jeep Liberty. Just had a third window fall into the door of my vehicle. I have already replaced two, costing me $200 a piece with an extended warranty. My car was left exposed to elements all night and luckily was not broken into. The window motors fail for no apparent reason. The new mechanism requires a whole new window. Jeep knows about this problem, there are tons of posts on the internet where the same thing has happened to other people. Jeep is ripping off it's customers, it should pay for the replacement of the windows. What if it falls down while I am driving down the interstate in the rain with my two kids in the back? it's shameful.

51 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2010

The regulators on the power windows on my 2006 Jeep Liberty break repeatedly. I just dropped my car off at my local auto repair to fix the rear passenger and the front driver windows. These have both been fixed before. These are incidents 6 and 7.

52 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2010

Vehicle parked in lot - not moving at all - driver side rear window dropped in door. Unable to lift with power window button. This is the seventh window regulator to fail on this vehicle - fourth one for this particular door. Dealer diagnosed as failed regulator and indicated that manufacturer fix for this problem is replacement of regulator part and window glass - $575.

53 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2010

I left work today and walked out to my car to find my back driver side window down. When I tried to put it up, it wouldn't go. This is the third time I have had this problem on the same vehicle and this will be the second time, almost a year to the day, that this window has had this problem. The regulator will need to be replaced, again, and the cost will again be over $300. 00. Even after the regulator is replaced my vehicle will not be safe. The complete randomness of this occurrence and the fact that this is the second time on the same window within a year, leaves me to believe that it will happen again. I can no longer leave anything of value in my car. I have to be careful when traveling with my dogs. I won't be able to take children in my car without another adult present. The window falls completely into the door leaving the space totally open and unsafe. After researching this I have found that there are thousands of people having this same problem, it is only a matter of time before someone gets hurt.

54 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2010

Jeep Liberty automobile, 2006 model year, multiple incidents of door window dropping suddenly into the door frame. Drivers door has happened twice, front passenger door once, driver's side rear passenger door has happened three times and passenger side rear door once. On two occasions this has happened while driving at high speeds and the resulting chaos has nearly caused an accident. Jeep dealership says this is a common problem for Jeep Liberty from 2002 to 2006. They have no solution to offer other than replacing the window solenoid with same type that keeps failing.

55 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2010

Left rear drivers side window fell. Will not go up. Door will not open or close properly. The other windows are starting to go out. I can tell now, by the sound. The rear window has been used 3 times. I have only had the Jeep for 18 months. The replacement part seems to fail right after it is put in. At $550. 00 per window at my dealer I can not get them fixed. But now my kids can not ride in the backseat because I am afraid the window will fall.

56 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2010

Power window regulator broke/needed replaced on 2006 Jeep Liberty. Second one to fail, first covered under warranty, second was not (price 340. 00 dollars). Happened to both rear windows which are rarely down.

57 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2010

1. There are not events leading up to the failure. 2. The rear drivers side window regulator. It has broken 3 times in two years. The consequence is that during times of extreme heat or cold, the window will stay down posing a health risk (in cold weather-cold related illness and in hot weather-dehydration) as well as a safety risk (outside debris entering vehicle at high velocities) to the rear passenger. 3. The regulator has been replaced three times: twice by dealership and once by myself. The old parts are not available.

58 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2010

Failure of power window components causing window to crash into inner door. . . Almost caused an accident by frightening me to the point of panic. After some investigation, I have found out that this is an ongoing problem with the Jeep Liberty that Chrysler has refused to deal with. . . It will eventually be dealt with after someone is killed or maimed. Why don't you do your job and deal with this problem before someone gets killed or maimed.

59 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2010

In March 2009 I purchased a used 2006 Jeep Liberty and in August 2009 the driver side rear window stopped working just a loud clicking sound and then you can manual pull and push the window down. A new regulator/cable and window had to be installed. In March 2010 the same thing happened on the front drivers side window and the front passenger window. In July 2010 the rear driver side window stopped working again. Each time the windows stops working they need to replaced. Money out of my pocket, now my extended warranty is no longer in effect and the work that gets down only has a warranty for so long. There has to be a better fix then forking over $500+ each time a window stops working. It seems at this rate it's going to happened now every year. I am afraid to use the window at all. This needs to be addressed!!!!.

60 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2010

Rear driver side window regulator failed and the window dropped. Research shows that this is very common with Jeep window regulators. A cheaply made plastic clip routinely breaks causing the window to drop (both front and rear power windows). Many owners have replaced multiple window regulators costing several hundred dollars each. Failure occurs even on windows that are rarely operated. The failures create a safety issue and should be addressed with a recall. The weak window regulators also make it very easy to break into a vehicle.

61 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2010

All the window regulators in my 2006 Jeep Liberty have failed and I am on my 2nd go round now. Had one replaced on 7/12 and on 7/14 had another one fail. I simply cannot afford the $1000 to fix both within a 3 day time period. I'm sorry - this is really unacceptable for chrsyler to have not issued a recall. It is a safety issue! . Because of the high cost involved that I just couldn't afford I had a friend "rig" yet another of the windows only a few short months ago and now it cannot be opened at all. Please do something about this issue. I see hundreds of other complaints online from Jeep owners that have had the same problem over and over. Thank you for listening!.

62 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2010

While driving on 75n with no warring my back passenger window made a loud grinding noise then just fell down and would not go back up. I had two puppies in the back seat and while I was driving they were trying to go by the window. Drove 5 miles like this to the nearest exit and was fortunate to find a tuffy auto service store. The window was diagnosed as a faulty regulator and I was told it would be $400 to fix it and about 3 hours. I could not afford that at the time, so I duck taped plastic to the window and drove another 2 hours north on 75 to get home. This was very scary and after a server safety issue! I have contacted Jeep/Chrysler's complaint line and after two days have still not received a call back from a case manager. I was absolutely shocked to discover that there are close to 200 complaints on this very situation on carcomplaints. Com and that Jeep is not backing their products. I am waiting to hear from them to see how this will be covered. This truly could have been very serious with the death of my dog and what if a baby was back there. In many cases the window's are actually shattering with out warning as they fall.

63 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2010

I own a 2006 Jeep Liberty, for no apparent reason the rear passenger window just fell down. I went to the dealer and they told me this is happening all the time. It seams to me that this would be a safety concern if you have children. The regulators break causing the window to fall (per mechanic).

64 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2010

Jeep Liberty 2006 left rear window crashed down while driving. Regulator broken found that there where many complaints on this with Jeep.

65 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2010

While driving the car the windows fall down and possibly break under right circumstances and all eventually fall down and don't work when fall make big bang scares the driver at high speed you think you hit someone!!.

66 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2010

I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty with approximately 55k miles on it. I use my windows very infrequently. In the past two weeks both the front driver's side and front passenger side window regulators have broken. I have seen on a couple web sites that this is a known and recurring problem with this model.

67 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2010

Jeep Liberty window regulator failing multiple times. Safety compromised due to potential invasion, climate issues, etc. I've had several windows replaced and they continue to break, now of course the warranty is expired. This is a serious defect that Jeep apparently is unwilling to recall to date.

68 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2010

While driving my 2006 Jeep Liberty the rear passenger driver side window fell down. While in the up position. I already had the driver side window fixed under warranty. Since I live in a cold climate state this could cause a safety issue if the window were to break in climate weather.

69 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2010

Rear drivers side window slid into the door with no warning. Took it to the dealership and was told it was the window regulator and it would cost $500 to fix it.

70 Power Window problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2010

My 2006 diesel Jeep Liberty crd 4x4 windows in the rear both stopped working. First one side quite rolling up and down and then on June 4th 2010 the left rear window wouldn't go up and made a loud roaring noise and clicking and my son got soaked from the rain and now it still won't roll up. Also, the esp and traction control light came on and is staying on.
