We just had the trailer hitch recall installed on this Jeep Liberty. How could Chrysler's trailer hitch installation be approved as a protection for the gas tank. Only the receiver sticks down in the middle of the tank. The trailer hitch does not have a reinforcement bar bolting to the frame well in front of the tank to avoid an incident that could cause tank rupture. This fix is totally inadequate to avoid tank rupture.

I received a notification of the defect in the occupant restraint control module a couple of years ago and every time that I called the dealer, they advised that they did not have the replacement parts. I called them today and they tell me on 3/25/15 that they now have the parts but cannot repair the vehicle until 8/7/15. Also - I need to have the "trailer hitch" inspected and likely replaced to avoid fuel leakage if there were a rear-end accident. This is completely unacceptable. What is the point of "recalling" vehicles when they cannot be repaired in a timely fashion? so I should just feel glad that I have a reason to sue someone if a family member is terribly injured or dies in a crash in the interim couple of years. Please provide me with an acceptable resolution to this problem. I expect some sort of an answer!.
Recall n46/NHTSA 13v-252 recieved recall notice called dealer, was told parts were backordered and would be called later. Never called. Recieved another recall notice, called dealer for appt. And was told still did not have parts. Made appt. For repair when parts come in put on list. Never called then recieved another recall notice stating we never replied to recall notice ? this is a lie and will be contacting Chrysler to complane about treatment from dealer.

I received a recall notice from the Chrysler group llc. N46 / NHTSA 13v - 252. (rear structure reinforcement) we took our vehicle to our Jeep dealer here in owensboro, ky. About 4 to 6 months ago. They told us they did not have the correct parts in stock at that time and they were on order. We checked back frequently at the dealer in which still no parts have arrived for our vehicle. On the week of 9/14/2014 - 9/20/14 we received the same recall notice from Chrysler again. We contacted the dealer again and still no parts have arrived. My complaint: this has gone on long enough we need this recall order fixed now. We feel we can't even get in this vehicle and be protected comfortably. Can anyone help us out please from this authority?.

On multiple occasions Jeep wrote that I would receive a trailer hitch to enhance safety from rear end collisions, to prevent the gas tank from blowing up. When I tool the Liberty in for the recall, all they put on was the holder for the ball hitch. They did not put on the trailer hitch itself. They provided a poorly copied letter which included this paragraph: "do not attempt to tow with the campaign-installed trailer hitch assembly. Your vehicle was not equipped with a Chrysler oem trailer tow package and this campaign-hitch assembly does not include the necessary wiring harnesses and/or other heavy duty components for towing. " I believe this is a slap in the face by Chrysler to its customers and the nhtsb, saying, "you can make me do x, and we will agree, but then we won't do x, we'll do x minus a and b". If it isn't strong enough for a simple tow, how is it going to protect me in a collision? and how is promising a trailer hitch, but installing only the weakest part of a trailer hitch, comply with their earlier written promises? I have voiced these concerns to the local dealer and to their corporate office managing the recall, and they have been dismissive of my questions.

Received a recall notice saying fuel tank has chance of fuel leak during rear end collision and çhrysler would install a trailer hitch. They stated that the parts required for this program "are currently not available" and they would contact me by mail with a follow-up notice. It has been months and I have still not received any follow-up notice and would like to know the status of this recall.

The Jeep Liberty had an option called the sky-slider roof. I have seen many, many problems with the roof and I am positive that Chrysler corporation is well aware of the defect with this sky-slider roof that malfunctions, locks and will not work. Our roof was stuck closed and taken to a Jeep dealership for repair. They had to break a part to check what needed repair. It turns out that our extended warranty expired at 75,000 miles, but due to the weather, this roof cannot be opened, according to the owners manual unless the temperature is below 40 degrees f. With that, we could not get the Jeep in to be looked at until April, thus the vehicle at time of inspection of the roof was at 75,249 miles, over the warranty. They could not repair at this time and now I had to tape the roof closed so it does not open while driving or leak if raining. From research on the sky-slider roof problems on the internet, I have found that I am not the only, but one of hundreds if not thousads that have this problem that Chrysler would not give any monitary assistance in the repair that will cost approximately $3,000 to repair. Please assist in having Chrysler corporation recall or refund all owners of this sky-slider roof who have had the repairs completed.

There is a safety recall n46 / NHTSA 13v-252 which we were notified about. Said that Chrysler was going to fix the problem. But this recall was effective back in June 2013, and we just called them and they have made no attempt to send out, make or obtain any of the parts needed to fix this safety recall!! can you move them aong?.
Safety recall notice has been received, but dealer does not accept vehicle because parts to fix problem are not available from manufacturer. This is the second recall on the same vehicle and manufacturer is not providing parts necessary to fix recall problems.

In December 2013, I received a recall notice on the above-noted vehicle. Soon after, I phoned the dealer, moore Chrysler Jeep, peoria, arizona, to schedule installation of the oem trailer hitch, but I was told they did not have the part. In March 2014, moore Chrysler Jeep sent me a reminder notice that my Jeep needed some maintenance, and that as of December 12, 2013, the vehicle had an incomplete recall. I phoned the service department and made an appointment for the scheduled maintenance, as well as for the hitch to be installed. However, I was told, once again, that the dealer didn't have the part. It has been almost six months since I received the recall notice, but, so far, the problem has not been remedied. I am frustrated and furious! this is an important safety issue, and I want to know why I'm getting the runaround. I don'¿t know where to place the blame, ¿Chrysler or the dealer, ¿but either way, nobody is taking responsibility for this most recent recall with important safety concerns. Why is it taking so long to manufacture and supply the part? does anyone care? please do not suggest that I purchase and install a hitch from some other location and wait for reimbursement. I want to hear from either Chrysler or national highway traffic safety administration or both very soon.
Ignition switch failed without warning while transporting disabled person. Again!!!!! this is the 2nd time this same part has failed on this vehicle - it is a tiny, small "pot metal"/nylon part that is a weak link in this supposedly otherwise sturdy rig, and the only fix after all this time of repeated failures is to replace the entire steering column, rather than only the offending part, again. This year, the part lasted for far less time than the original part - for only 4 years and 48,000 mi. It is a dangerous situation when a careful and conscientious driver is unable to rely on a vehicle used to transport a wheelchair-bound person. This Jeep is a one-owner vehicle and is regularly maintained and cared for by the dealership and other authorized service centers. (in 2009, it took months to get the part) this issue should be considered for recall. The thing is not going to explode and kill someone, but leaving occupants vulnerable (with no warning) is still a serious security issue.
As I press the unlock button on my remote the door remains locked. I needed to have the door opened to change the taillights, but the door couldn't open so I took it to the dealer since I only owned the truck for a year. They said it would cost me about $200. 00 to open the door and change the bulb, . Because the door actuator was busted. I couldn't afford that because the bulb only cost me $5. 99. I only wanted the door open to change the taillight myself. Well I returned home only to tell my neighbor the problem, he took off the panel and un locked the door changed the bulb in 10 minutes and told me the problem is the plastic hinge not the actuator , he rigged a string so that I can unlock the door until I can find the part, but no one sells the part. It is a small latch that unlocks the door. Very simple. The best part is neighbor fixed it for now for free!!.
Important safety recall: n46/ NHTSA 13v-252 the fuel tank on my vehicle has a chance of experiencing a fuel leak during rear end collisions. Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can cause an underbody fire & death!! {chryslers words} this recall was initiated July 2013, here it is Nov 2014 & the recall was just completed, because when they issued the recall, it took them a 18 months to finally get the parts, & they still didn't have the parts, we had to go back a 2nd time, because when they ran out of parts, they forgot to let us know, yet they [motorworld of wilkes barre], sent us an email to bring our Jeep in. A complete waste of time. They did give us 6 gal of gas for a wasted trip, cost of cancelling my golf outing, priceless$$$. The existence of a minimum standard does not require n. H. T. S. A. To ignore deadly problems, the agency said. In its letter to Chrysler, the agency cited 32 rear-impact collisions that caused fatal fires resulting in 44 deaths in Jeep grand cherokees, and five accidents that resulted in seven deaths in the Jeep Liberty. Chrysler¿s idea for the limited recall ¿fix is to install trailer hitches on certain model year 1992¿98 grand cherokees and 2002¿07 Liberty vehicles. One big problem: research shows the trailer hitch is essentially useless in high-speed rear-impact crashes. As far as low-speed crashes are concerned, even Chrysler admits the hitch will only provide ¿incremental improvement in the crash energy management. ¿ to make matters worse, some of the Jeep vehicles that had already been involved in rear-impact fires already had a trailer hitch installed. Some good it did those owners. This is a class action lawsuit ready to happen.
Greetings, I am writing to you today because I have received several safety recall notices for the same recall #n46/NHTSA 13v-252 beginning in 2013. I have had my name registered with two different dealerships for well over 18 months with no repair work done. I am asking for your assistance in having this issue remedied. I can be reached at 732-331-7796 for any relevant information or communication. Respectfully, mark melillo.

January 8, 2013 good morning. It was very annoying when my passenger's front window dropped inside the door. It was and wasn't okay when the problem first arose. I was very concerned. I immediately took it to my dad to see what he knew about it or could do. He went to the pick and pull junkyard and got a plastic replacement window to hold me over until I could get if fixed, which I did about 3 weeks after the problem occurred. The problem occurred on January 8, 2013 and I got it fixed on January 29th, only for the opposite front drivers window to do the exact same thing two days after I got it out the shop. Well this time, my dad placed a 2 by 4 to hold it in place. And now only about 2 months later March 28, 2013 my back passenger window has suffered the same faith. Back on February 5, 2013 I took my car into the Chrysler dealer because they contacted me about a recall, and at this time I explained my incident to them; they stated they had maybe a few concerns about the window regulator, but that it wasn't enough to raise an eyebrow about. I understand why that would not be an eyebrow raiser. In less than 3 months, I have had 3 of my car window to just drop inside the door of my vehicle and the dealer doesn't think that this is call for a recall, or send out notices to Jeep dealer and work on the responses received to then determine if this is a major issue or not? very costly, and inconvenient especially when the incidents occur at different times. I would like to get some feed back, answers, shares on this matter, anybody? I have also been browsing the internet to find out if anyone else has experienced what I have, to see what their outcome was. Stressed out consumer. . .
Sky slider roof which is an option for this vehicle has broken loose from the vehicle. This is the third failure of this convertible top feature. The top slides backward electrically on metal tracks and is pulled backwards using cables. The first failure of the roof was in 2010. At that time the roof would not close leaving it open and dangerous while driving. The vehicle was under mfg warranty and the entire cable and track was replaced. The second identical problem occurred in February 2011 resulting in repair and replacement of cables and track. Most recently, the cables have again broken leaving the top unable to close, only this time, the components have broken and while driving the top came loose and flew open causing more damage to the vehicle. The dealership where this vehicle has been repaired for this identical issue is aware of the ongoing problems with the sky slider. Chrysler/Jeep has been notified and a case has been opened, however, despite the problem being well-known they are not providing repair.
On three separate occasions vehicle stalls upon engaging drive or reverse from park or neutral. The shift is made, the vehicle begins to move, then suddenly it stalls, the engine shuts off. Park or neutral must be quickly reselected to restart vehicle. Danger of being in an intersection when this happens it high. Dealer says it is a known issue, with no solution.
2 back window motors don't work.
Several things 2 list: vehicle = 2. 8l diesel Jeep Liberty, 2006. The codes are p0093 & u0121. 1st) it says a large leak in the fuel system. Something in the emission system. Has happened several x's. I've had it towed 4 this. Engine runs rough & quits @ x's. No power. Changed fuel filter & did air leak test in the fuel return system / tech at Dodge Jeep dealer. No air in return line found. Problem still exist on an intermitant & sporadic x frame since June 2010. Last x occurred = 8-20-10ish. 2) low boost from hole in the waste gate actuator vacum tube from improper routing at factory. Found by tech at Jeep dealer. 2 visits many hours & $$$. Egr valve replaced @ same time. Big $'s. 3rd) belt squeak from bearing going out in a/c compressor /dealer tech??? 3rd visit. Need a/c compressor he says. Previously changed tensioner pulley for this problem but did not fix problem. They now say its the a/c compressor??? 4th) right rear electric window motor failed 10-2-10. Replaced motor/regulator assembly 10-7-10= $172. 99. I should be reimbursed for all parts & labor for these damages. I paid a lot of $ for a supposedly good vehicle but it keeps failing. 5th) part time 4x4 light on dash says its in part time 4x4 when in two wheel drive. Haven't repaired cause of $. Please note that because of low power I was almost in several accidents because of the low turbo boost at acceleration. There could be injuries or fatalities in the future if this happens to someone else that's not mechanically inclined and not aware of reduced engine performance of a turbo failing slowly like mine because of a small hole in the waste gate actuator tubing from vibration on the housing bracket by the tube. Was replaced and rerouted by dealer tech.
I have a Jeep Liberty 2006, last year the passenger window regulator broke and then almost exactly a year later the driver window regulator broke. I have to replace the window and regulator (because of an "upgrade" in the regulator part you have to buy a window as well). From last March to this March they have doubled the price of the regulator making the repair even more costly to consumers.
