The doors do lock through the electrical system. You can manually lock and unlock the vehicle but can not lock/unlock through the electrical system. Cd player also does not work. I believe the issue may be stemming from the fuse box under the hood, I have checked all the fuses and everything shows to be good.
Manual transmission reverse pops out of gear. Sunroof blew off and whipped behind into traffic while driving to work on highway 1 at 55mph.

The heater core on the Liberty became partially blocked. The heater core is not serpentine in design. Instead, it has a series of pipes that connect the tanks on both ends. The problem is that the bottom of the heater core plugs up. Water can still pass through the upper pipes, however. So the top half of the heater core gets hot and the bottom half does not. The hazard here is that the way the heater core is positioned in the air box, the air that blows over the top half goes to the passenger side. So the air that goes to the driver side of the car is the air that blew over the cold, bottom half of the heater core. This is dangerous because the driver side of the windshield can't be defogged/defrosted and if you are driving along and a snow event starts, you can quickly lose visibility. This has been an ongoing problem, and I've been able to get a little bit of heat back by doing a standard coolant flush. I've had to flush it twice a year every year, however, since right about the time the warranty expired. According to the owners manual, it shouldn't need flushed anywhere near this often. And the coolant is usually pretty rusty when I flush it. A quick scan of the internet tells me that I'm not the only person having this heater core plug problem and after talking to my local Jeep dealership I've discovered this problem is fairly common.
I keep my car parked in an enclosed garage when it is not being driven. One morning, I went into the garage to drive my car to work. I used my remote to open my car door. I then noticed that the backseat passenger window, immediately behind the driver side was rolled down. I know I had not rolled it down. I got in the car and pushed on the button to raise the window. The window rattled and groaned with an electrical sound. I looked at the window - it had not rolled up. I had to get to work, so I drove my car with the window in that shape. When I got to work I asked a CO-worker to help me tape it up. So then, my window was manually pushed up by two people trying to push it up from the inside and the outside. Then tape was applied to the window to hold it up, but it started to slip down. So the person who was first helping put a piece of cardboard on the inside part of the window, saying that would prevent it from falling down. It worked for awhile, but then the cardboard slipped down into the window. So then, I found two bigger pieces of cardboard to hold it in the closed position and we taped some more. It is now taped up and so far is holding, but as rain may come, it will probably fall again. I called Jeep and asked how this could be repaired. They told me it would cost about $400. I don't have a spare $400 to spend on a car that has had a massive number of problems and has cost me thousands of dollars in repairs over the year. Then the next thing that happened was that the front driver-side hubcab disappeared - this is never ending trouble with this car. The car has been a problem from the beginning. I told Jeep early on - they would do nothing to help or exchange it for a car without problems. This vehicle is terrible, and the dealership is even worse.

The Jeep Liberty had an option called the sky-slider roof. I have seen many, many problems with the roof and I am positive that Chrysler corporation is well aware of the defect with this sky-slider roof that malfunctions, locks and will not work. Our roof was stuck closed and taken to a Jeep dealership for repair. They had to break a part to check what needed repair. It turns out that our extended warranty expired at 75,000 miles, but due to the weather, this roof cannot be opened, according to the owners manual unless the temperature is below 40 degrees f. With that, we could not get the Jeep in to be looked at until April, thus the vehicle at time of inspection of the roof was at 75,249 miles, over the warranty. They could not repair at this time and now I had to tape the roof closed so it does not open while driving or leak if raining. From research on the sky-slider roof problems on the internet, I have found that I am not the only, but one of hundreds if not thousads that have this problem that Chrysler would not give any monitary assistance in the repair that will cost approximately $3,000 to repair. Please assist in having Chrysler corporation recall or refund all owners of this sky-slider roof who have had the repairs completed.

Vehicle was rolling backwards when brake was applied while sitting on a hill at a stop sign. Jeep would not move forward when gas was applied it tried to roll backwards as if it were a manual transmission.
In June 2011, the rear lift gate would not unlock on my 09 Jeep Liberty sport. The dealership replaced the rear lift gate latch as well as both ignition keys under warranty. Thought the problem was resolved but in February 2013, 1 1/2 years later had the same failure with the rear lift gate not unlocking on the same vehicle. The dealership again replaced the previously installed rear lift gate latch as well as the rear glass window weather stripping due to the fact that the weather stripping joint had signs of rust stains (premature failure). The fix to prevent water leaking through the upper glass window latch pocket to the rear lift gate latch, which had shorted out again was to offset the weather stripping joint 6" vertically away from the upper glass window latch pocket so that any water could not enter the inner rear lift gate. The non-warranty repair for this problem is approximately $400. 00. Routine maintenance inspection for any weather stripping is not in your vehicle operation and maintenance manual but I would highly recommend that you periodically check all doors and lift gates seals and weather stripping for signs of wear or premature failures or you will be replacing internal components due to water damage.
A piece fell from under the seat which makes the seat feel loose. The side control panel for moving the seat back and forth does not give full control of adjusting the seat. The key less remote will not lock and unlock my doors. I have to use manual locks. I took it to be looked at, I was advised ground wires were crossing and blowing out a fuse/relay. The mophar skyliner sunroof is off track. There is a manufacturer defect in the sunroof. Chrysler has not issued a recall yet several Jeeps are having and have had this issue. It is $300 for a new roof which will break/go off track within 2 years. Or $6000 to repair the roof I have which still does not guarantee it will break/go off track again. The roof opens on it's own while I am driving causing exposure to outside weather. I have read from other customers that the roof has flown off while driving which can cause injuries to the passengers in vehicle and/or driving around the vehicle.

My original intent was to file a complaint about a gas overflow issue, but after seeing all the other Liberty complaints, I have included other issues I have: 1. For at least two years, when pumping gas, the gas has continued to flow even after the automatic flow has shut off. I now stand at the pump and when I think it is getting full, I start pumping by hand to avoid the overflow. After checking on the internet, this is an issue other Liberty owners experience. I did receive the initial recall notice for 13v-252, but nothing since to say the part is in. Since the gas overflow is experienced by many owners, is this part of the recall? 2. Check engine light is always on. It has been re-set many times; is ok for a day or two and then re-appears. Per owner's manual, this is not an issue unless the light is flashing, which it is not, but why does this continue to occur? 3. Both back electric windows have fallen down without warning. Both are now secured in place with tape, as it would be too expensive to repair. 4. The back left door will not open from the inside.

When at a stop, I put the car into first gear. A lot of times, not all the time, it will violently pop out of gear. I then put it back in gear, and drive away. I can avoid this by put it in to first gear as I glide to a stop, or by creeping the Jeep in 2nd gear and then go back to 1st. This has been going on for a long time now. The pop out of gear sounds and feels like my transmission fell out of the vehicle. I originally thought it was just my car, but after reviewing the blogs, noticed alot of other people having the same issues with their 6 speed manual Jeep.
After only a few hundred miles on my new 2007 Liberty, the passenger front window failed, due to a faulty regulator, in November 2007. The dealer repaired it under warranty but said it was a common problem with this vehicle. After minimal use, the rear driver window failed for the same reason about 8 months later. I could manually push it up but it would fall after a few minutes of driving. The window may have been up and down a dozen times in total before failing. This is a real safety concern, and it is disgusting that such a broadly acknowledged defect is not being handled responsibly by Chrysler.

Rear window actuators will break without warning and drop the rear windows completely while driving. Since this model of Liberty has the "severe buffeting" problem when this happens, it can cause incredible surprise and disorientation to the point a possible accident. This has happened three times and the dealer refuses to fix them anymore. Both windows are semi-permanently manually fixed in place by me.
