Snapped rear control arm. I own this vehicle in a salt state. No issues prior, it literally rusted and snapped with myself and my 5 year old in the car, causing me to lose control and almost crash.

Been over 30 days since vehicle was inspected for a recall that requires installing a tow hitch. Manufacturer will not provide an eta for parts however I can go thru various other methods to obtain parts needed within a few days. Seems like manufacturer is stalling and not wanting to fix issue.

I'm the original owner of a 2009 Jeep Liberty with a skyslider roof that I barely used. I was driving when the sky slider roof suddenly blew open and back, snapping the cables and launching pieces of parts like missiles. It was a terrifying experience for me and my young children. I have dealt with the very loud wind noise for the past 12 years after having it evaluated several times by dealerships and being told there was nothing that could be done about it. It can be even more overwhelming for children with autism and/or sensory issues. Fortunately, I was able to avoid an on-road accident, but still was hit with those projectile pieces and now have the added financial component of having to pay for repairs on a vehicle that the dealership has said most of the replacement parts have been discontinued on. The internet is full of complaints regarding these sky slider roof life-threatening issues. Something needs to be done to protect consumers from the physical and financial harm of these vehicles.
Underbody of car is so corroded that the vehicle could lose control.
On 7/10 I'm driving down the road towards the freeway. I hear a very loud pop that startles me. I pull over & discover lower ball joint has separated causing the lower control arm to slip out of socket into the wheel & than separate from wheel. I mean its still attached to the vehicle but vehicle is completely disabled. It caused significant damage to the right front wheel and somewhat minor damage to the right front fender. Theres literally metal shaving all over the road from it carving the metal out of my wheel. Get home and my boyfriend tells me that he's discovered 3 safety recalls. So we call fca (fiat Chrysler automobiles) they said they would have it towed to the dealership no problem but they needed a $103 for the tow that they would reimburse later. They told us to pick any dealership. So fca has it towed from my driveway on 7/13 at 8:45pm to lithia Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of portland dealership. Safety recall f23 was replaced by the dealership but the manufacturer (fca) has not fixed the damage and is denying responsibility. Fca calls on 9/16 to finally tell us that a certified inspector has determined the damage to the wheel and fender is not from the recall. Which is a lie and I can take it to a mechanic and have that verified. They also go on to state they are not going to reimburse the $103 for the tow. So we go to the dealership to pick up the car the next day. I speak with will in the service department and ask to see a copy of the inspection that the fca is talking about. Will tells me that fca never sent an inspector out and there is no inspection report stating that the damage is not from the recall. I have lots of photos of everything. Please contact me.

Front lower ball joint on right side has fell out twice, 8 months apart. Both times the vehicle was in motion, going less the 20 mph. Road conditions were dry, and on on regular paved road. I was driving straight on the road both times. The first time it broke, it cause my wheel to break and flatter my tire, second time it damaged my wheel but didn't not bust through it. Motor mounts have broke 2 times as week 1 week after repaired it broke the 2nd time. Transmission mount has also broke.
I was hit on my passenger front, while attempting to cross into a parking lot, so hard until my tire rod bent at a angle. My passenger airbag didn't deploy. None of my airbags deployed. There was no blind spot warning. Even after the impact, there was no alarm or notification of the damage, as the firemen were attempting to drive my car out of the road.

I had just gotten off the highway and took the wrong turn so in the middle of the street I tried to whip a uturn and when I turned my wheel to the left I heard a loud crack and my vehicle was unlevel so I asked my passenger to see if we had blown a tire and he said it looked fine but I got out and looked and saw that the whole entire wheel assembly fell off. I had brake fluid draining in the street and there was the piece (control arm) that was snapped in half leaving my car stuck and broken .

About a month ago I was coming up the mountain and it was hard to stere and it made me hit a gard rail on the other side of the road and then about a week ago I was going to town and I stopped at the store to get gas and turn it off and it would not start back so I don't no what is wrong.
All these complaints on the sky slider any class action lawsuits or Chrysler issuing compensation? or buy backs?.
Hello, my name is jamie woodley. I'm filing this complaint on my 2006 Jeep Liberty sport. Currently, there's a recall for the suspension rear lower control arms. I've read the previous recalls on it, which I saw this vehicle has been reprogrammed before. I've only had the vehicle for a few months and I've had an oil leak, bad thermostat, and the transmission is busted. I can't reverse or drive over 10 mph. I heard the transmission may be in fail safe mode. I had midas do a full inspection, but they failed to acknowledge the lower control arms by suggesting brakes. I knew it wasn't the brakes. The technician drove the vehicle after the brakes were done, but I still heard/felt a problem with the suspension. There is a recall for that from 2018. I purchased the vehicle last year in March 2020. Also, the rear lift gate was dented when I bought it like the vehicle may have been in an accident. This was a vehicle I purchased for my 2 kids and I. This vehicle has been giving me problems since I bought it. The back driver's side window won't go all the way up. I have to keep a stick in between just to keep the window from falling all the way in the door. Definitely not a safe vehicle. My engine stalled out on the free way while I was on my way to pick up my kids. After my oil change, no oil light came on. I am seeking help with any buy back programs or a valued trade in appraisal. I have a quote from conrad's on how much it's going to cost to fix it and the price is over $3,000. I have extended warranty, but am unsure if it will cover any service requests. That is pretty outrageous that it's going to cost that much to fix it. I've been at take 5 to keep up on the maintenance and was told I had an oil leak somewhere. On top of the brakes, I've spent money on 4 new tires, 6 ignition coils, an O2 sensor, and I bought a new pcm/ecu computer I have yet to have installed. Feel free to contact me at the information I've provided. I'd be truly grateful for any assistance. Thanks!.

The sky slider on my Jeep is broken cause leaking when it rains. Called multiple dealerships and companies that say they don't have any replacement parts or pieces to fix the issue. There is a social media group that shows many other Jeep Liberty's that have the same issue and due to the top being broken, tops have flown off while on highway causing damage to vehicle-major safety hazard. I'm going to continue to call around and see if I can find a resolution but I'm praying my top stays on until then. In the photos, you can see where I had to clamp the top shit which has slowed the leaking for now.
Heat shield/blanket between exhaust and body . Almost started on fire. I smelt something burning like paper/plastic. I crawled under Jeep to see what it was. I saw smoke and red embers in that padding.
Sky slider is broke and nobody has the parts to fix it. It leaks water and doesn't close all the way so the noise is awful. Only fix it to screw it shut or replace with hard roof. We need replacement parts ASAP.
As as I was driving doing around 50 my skyslider rood opened up just like that and I have many leaks coming in causin my electrical components to malfunction at times and I also have my sensor that stays on stating low air pare tire waited 6 months for a part from the dealer and now I'm scared to even open it up and still have the lots of leaks on any rainy day this is ridiculous bec that was the selling point as to why I got this vehicle and now I'm to scared to use it bec I've heard from others that it comes lose and flies off causing accidents pls pls someone do something bout this bec it's not right and there is no help for Jeep thanks.
The sky roof has broken a 2nd time, at least since I have owned it. I just had it replaced 2yrs and 5 months ago. Jeep stopped making the roof frame and the dealer was unable to locate it. There are no after market parts available. Jeep refuses to help in any way, and I'm still paying for a car that I cannot drive because it cannot e repaired. Yes, I was sitting still. It has to be in park in order to retract or close. There are thousands of complaints about this particular roof frame. It broke in the exact same spot that it broke in 29 months ago. The warranty on it was only for 2 years. What am I supposed to do? help please.
I purchased a 2012 Jeep Liberty with a slider roof. When attempting to close the slider using the controls, the roof would no longer close completely, which has caused water damage to the interior of the vehicle and I would imagine may have also caused electrical issues. Things like the dash lights, wipers, and seat randomly come on on their own. My concern, and from the research I have done on this issue, is that the roof is not securely attached which is concerning when you are driving at higher speeds on the pike or rt 128. Just last week when driving my daughter back to college, there were several loud clicking noises while we were on rt 128 and I honestly thought the roof was going to fly off. This appears to have been a known issue by Jeep Chrysler and is a real safety hazard that they are not willing or able to correct.
I own a 2012 Jeep Liberty jet with a slider roof. This is a specific type of roof that I just found out that in Feb 2019 has been discontinued. My roof does not work and not only is it leaking it will not close all the way. When I drive on the highway it begins to come open even when I have it taped down. I have a huge fear that it is going to fly off while driving over 65mph. If this should happen again (it started to happen one time and luckily I had a friend in the front seat who was able to hold it down) I fear someone could really get hurt or even killed. Jeep is taking no responsibility for this issue with this type of roof and no longer even offers the parts to fix it. I have been told that I would have to seek a 3rd party and the roof would need to be soldered off and replaced, but they would not do it nor would they offer any sort of compensation for the ill-constructed product. This is not right! I am not alone with this issue and I do not want to see anyone get hurt for a very important part of a car not working.
The sky slider roof became detached when driving on a highway. My children were in the car when this happened. The only parts available to fix this issue is an aftermarket product. This concerns me due to not knowing how well this part is made. Considering Chrysler has taken the parts off of the market, it appears they are aware of the defects and safety issues. I am unable to drive my car for fear the roof will blow off while I am driving it. There are no recalls currently for this and I am shocked.
2012 Jeep Liberty. Consumer writes in regards to skyliner roof getting stuck. The consumer stated the roof got stuck in open position. The dealear and manufacturer were notified. No assistance was offered.
Takata recall lower control arm broke ball joint. Enhanced corrosion, 150k miles car was in reverse at a gas station and the car shifted downwards no warning.
It wouldn't let me click on multiple other options like the windshield. Snow blows through the front vent sometimes as I'm driving if I have it on regular heat or defrost. The breaks have always squeaked since I got the vehicle in 2018. I have to play with the seatbelt to get it to lock in place. The wheel sometimes turns on its own randomly to the left and the suspension is really off and bouncy.
I was driving on the interstate I started to approach a mac truck, I started to apply my breaks and I noticed I didnt slow down, so I kept trying, the check engine, abs, esp, and two other lights came on. I rear ended the trucked and my Jeep started spinning and I wrecked into the medium.
Lost control of back end of vehicle , while driving home on a city street. Brought it to a mechanic, he put it on lift and there was extensive corrosion on the metal arms holding the frame up.
I drove for about an hour on a steep mountain road. Sometimes using the overdrive to go up steep grades. The cruise control would not work. I made it to town and was on the main road stopped in traffic. Suddenly, the rpms raced and the Jeep accelerated on its own. I had my foot on the brake, but had to put it in park to stop it, but not before it hit then truck in front of me. I was shaken up and checked the floor mat to make sure it was not touching the gas pedal. It was not.
Driving vehicle and vehicle started making popping noises right rear, and vehicle felt like the rear end was fishtailing why front was still going straight. Took to certified dealer and they reported unsafe vehicle report filed due to frame rotted through on right rear where lower control arm attaches to the frame. This is a recall item for 2006 Jeep Liberty in may 2018 (u38). Outreached to mopar and as told no recall on VIN for this yet if authorized dealer stated it is what recall is they would file claim. When told it is, was documented on invoice, mopar stated they never said that, was nothing could do, would not file claim against u38 recall, and because unable to fix and old vehicle nothing would be done to correct this.
The sky slider panoramic roof has some broken internal parts and won't fully close causing leaking water and loud wind noise. Roanoke Jeep dealer says they can't get replacement parts and there is no way to fix. I have visited 4 other shops and the only solution offered is to remove the panoramic roof and replace with full metal roof with a cost of $5000. I can't believe there are no replacement parts for a 10 year old vehicle and I'm stuck with a vehicle that is going to leak every time it rains.
The first time my skyslider malfunctioned was while I was driving down the expressway at 65mph. Instead of opening straight it went sideways and was struggling against itself- this had never happened before. I ended up having to stop along the shoulder because I didn't know what was happening. Once I was finally able to get it into the closed position again it wouldn't stay closed on it's own without wanting to flip up and cause a lot of noise and potentially more damage. I had to hold the roof close the remaining 20 minutes home. I took my car to the dealership where they told me there were no parts to fix it but they could permanently close it for me. They couldn't guarantee it would be water tight but this was the best they could offer. I accepted then approximately two weeks later as soon as I started the car I started to hear a loud noise that I couldn't place because it sounded like it was coming from everywhere. My 6 year old pointed out that the roof was moving and I immediately hit the close button and was able to get the roof to stop straining against the "permanent seal" but it was too late and a few pieces rained down on me. I had to drive home 40 minutes on an expressway where the speed limit was 70 mph with my hazards on because I couldn't go over 60 mph without losing my grip of the roof and it flopping around wildly- I have a short video of that particular drive but can't upload it here. My son was terrified and the car has been sitting in our driveway ever since because it's been raining here and my roof won't close. I contacted corporate Jeep and all they could tell me was that the roof on my Jeep was out of warranty in 2013, 3 years before I purchased it from an authorized Jeep dealer, bales auto mall in jeffersonville, in. I haven't even owned this vehicle for 2 years- I have 4 years of payments left. . .
Recall service incomplete no hitch installed on vehicle $100 promotion was denied.
The sky slider roof is malfunctioning and getting worse and worse. It is now leaking and I fear it might come off eventually. Chrysler Jeep no longer offers parts to repair and no one can fix the issue. It is unacceptable that the dealer would allow their product to go unsupported in this manner.
While driving on a freeway at 65 mph the unopened sunroof blew off the vehicle. Weather conditions normal. The vehicle had no body damage.
