36 Body problem of the 2012 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

This vehicle has a slider roof. The electrical part works fine (truth is I only used the roof a handful of times) but somehow -I believe from a car wash the slider roof came off track. I was told by Jeep that the only way to fix the issue is to replace the entire roof. My warranty will not cover it since the electrical part still works. Jeep would only fix it for $3,000. The car is not worth fixing for that much money. When I was driving down the highway air got caught up under the soft roof and started to open I had to pull over and manually pull it closed. I have a huge fear that it is going to blow off. The slider roof is a terrible design and could cause a major problem when the entire roof blows off due to this design.

41 Body problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 07/24/2018

Retractable roof would not close properly. When closing, roof would not fully close and seal creating openings exposing the interior to harsh weather conditions. When driving car to seek repair, front section of roof came off track and flew backwards. Fortunately it did not fly off the car but the potential for this to happen is a very serious safety concern. This is not an uncommon problem for this retractable roof system so, I trust this it will be recalled for repair/replacement before a tragedy occurs.

42 Body problem of the 2012 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/28/2018

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the vehicle sky slider plastic piece inside railed broke when pressing the button to opened it. The contact heard a sound like air was sipping through. The contact stated when opening the sky slider a piece fell from above. As a result the sky slider does not open or close. The dealer atlantic Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram located at (130 sunrise hwy, west islip, NY 11795 (631) 422-0123) was contacted and inform that the parts are no longer available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 4116,000. As.

43 Body problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/18/2018

This Jeep Liberty has a sky slider roof which opens like a convertible top. The top malfunctioned when trying to open it and we were unable to close it electronically with the control buttons. It remained partially open at the front and along the sides. This happened while using it in a straight line at around 55 mph on a 2-lane highway in north dakota while on a trip about 250 miles from home. The dealer was able to manually push it down most of the way but informed us that the entire assembly including motors, arms, cables, and cloth top would have to be replaced. The parts were ordered 7/9/18, and it is now 10/2/18 and Jeep does not have a supplier for the part. I contacted Jeep customer care 877-426-5337 on 9/14/18 to see if they could escalate the situation but they state Jeep is waiting for a new supplier. I have a case opened which is assigned to a case manager. Driving it creates a safety concern because it has to be driven with the windows partially down because the air pressure pushes the top up and creates gaps to the outside air. It is disconcerting and distracting driving in the rain and here in minnesota it will be very cold and snowy soon, which will create an even greater safety concern for the 79 year old owner.

44 Body problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/15/2018

Third brake light rust, due to poor seal and design. Cost hundreds of dollars in repairs, which is silent until the light falls out and damage is beyond a simple repair. I was alerted to this by the auto body shop, that told me it was common in Jeep Liberty, and did my research. We are the only owners, and it has good service records. Spend half of it's time parked in a garage, why is this a issue. Why are many Jeep owners having this issue. Jeep is being repaired light fell out, therefore making it unsafe to drive. I will have a bill for repair at completion. My husband was leaving our driveway when the light was noticed hanging, before it could fall out in traffic.

45 Body problem of the 2012 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/08/2018

I have a 2012 Jeep Liberty. The sky slider has never sealed properly since I purchased it. I took it into Jeep 3x for wind noise complaints (you can barely hear yourself talk inside the car when you are driving over 40mph) and each time I was told there was nothing wrong. About 6 months ago the sky slider roof stopped operating. I took it to Jeep to be fixed but they told me "you are lucky it is closed. Leave it closed. We have some in the back of the shop that are stuck open and we can't get replacement parts". I took it to another Jeep dealer who looked into this more for me. I have an extended warranty and Jeep had someone come out to confirm that the sky slider was indeed inoperable and approve the repair work to be done and confirm that the part was under warranty. Unfortunately they also told me that they can't get the part from Jeep as it is discontinued. I filed a complaint with Jeep and received an fca number, but unfortunately every time I call or they call me the answer is the same. The part is under review and they are not sure if they are going to make it anymore. Two days ago while driving at 55mph, the sky slider roof literally popped open. I had to quickly pull over in 3 lanes of traffic to try to get it to close. Unfortunately it will not seal and now has a gaping hole in the roof which renders it inoperable and not only that, the interior of the car is now exposed to the elements. It is unheard of that Jeep will not stand behind their product. The roof is warrantied (which I paid for) yet they have no answers for consumers and refuse to address the problem. I have read hundreds of similar complaints on the internet. I am not sure what my next step is here except to file suit with Jeep.

46 Body problem of the 2008 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/08/2018

Driving on the highway my sky slider folded back off the track making a horrific sound. The power button used to open and close the sky slider does not work. It just makes a grinding noise. We had to manually push the sky slider down. There is also a leaking issue when there is rain. Water pours into the vehicle from around the front interior lights on the roof between the driver and passenger seat. There is also water marks from the sky slider leaking. I also have a sensor that stays on constantly. The sensor is for low tire pressure.

47 Body problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

I purchased the vehicle from the original owner. It is an immaculate vehicle. However, the sky glider had leaked sometime in the past ownership terribly. Stained inside. They told me they had replaced the seal at some point. It still leaks terribly. When it rains, wash it, etc. I'd like to know what to do to permanently fix the leak.

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Liberty. While driving various speeds, the sky slider unintentionally opened. As a result, the vehicle had water damage, which caused electrical failure and various unknown warning indicators illuminated. 49 Body problem of the 2010 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/04/2018

The retractable roof broke and will not close completely. . . Contacted the dealer and was told it would take a month to get the pieces. . . . That month is now going on five. . . Was given a number by the dealership to call and put in a complaint. . . Now I have a case number and a woman who calls me every week telling me they are working on rectifying the problem. I was told today that they are unable to make the replacement pieces at this time because the "mold" for the piece was lost. . . So now they are in the process of trying to find a manufacturer to make the "mold" to make the piece. . . Then make sure it is safe for the public. . . . Really. . . I call bs. . They need to take these car back and return my money. . This cannot be legal. . . I am making car payments on a car I cannot drive safely. . . Do they not realize god forbid someone drives their car like this and gets into an accident and is ejected from the car and dies because of a faulty roof. . . . . Law suits up the butt. . . This is just ridiculous. . . I will never ever buy another Jeep ever. . . . This is such bad business on their part. . . . And I will tell anyone who listens to me to never ever buy a Jeep . . . They should be ashamed of themselves.

50 Body problem of the 2008 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/12/2018

Our 2008 Jeep Liberty has a defective sky slider roof. Despite being properly maintained, it has jumped the tracks and had to be forced closed. We are concerned about the safety if it does not remain closed while driving. We have contacted Jeep who refuses to help. After reading numerous complaints online, we are questioning why there has not been a recall as this is an obvious safety concern and can leave owners unable to use their vehicles.

56 Body problem of the 2010 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

The skyslider fabric roof leaks often. There are water stains on the upholstery. It does not seem to fit correctly any more. Mechanic said it would be a costly repair so basically he just taped it in place with duct tape. I did research and found that owners are having a lot of problems with this, including having the roof go flying off the car when in motion.

57 Body problem of the 2009 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

I was traveling on the highway to work (I'm in the military) and driving about 65 when the sky slider popped up and flew back. I swerved because it scared me, I pulled off the highway as fast as I could, scared the car behind me. I took it to the dealership where they told me that they could fix it but it would cost 4400. I called my insurance company to file a claim and the adjuster denied it because he stated that is a manufactures defect and they don't cover that. This vehicle should be a recall, this could have ended worse if traveling on the highway when this happened. In order for me to get it to the dealer for them to look at it I had to tape it down (due to weather) and I had to use tow straps to keep the sky liner from popping up while driving. This really makes me mad, I used my deployment money to buy this vehicle and I feel like I wasted all my hard earned money for this piece of junk. I will never buy a Jeep product in my life again, matter of fact I have turned to social media to worn everyone about this.

58 Body problem of the 2008 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/01/2017

My roof sky slider has been disconnected from the track that it connects to and will not stay on the roof without manual intervention. I currently have the roof taped down so it does not fly off while driving. With the slider being disconnected, it has caused many leaks to allow water into the inside of the vehicle, damaging the roof, floorboards, and has gotten into some of the electrical areas such as overhead lights above front dash. Initial disconnect happened while driving and skyslider was closed. It started to open up in the front right corner from wind pressure and without pushing the button to open it. Upon further investigation, it has been determined that the pins that keep the slider in place disconnected and will not connect back together. Currently front passenger side, rear driver side, and rear passenger side all have disconnected pins and the slider will not stay on the roof without intervention. I have contacted Chrysler and they said that there are no recalls for this issue. This is very much a safety issue as if I were to remove the tape holding the roof down, it would fly off while driving, putting myself and others in danger. Mechanical malfunction (and poor manufacturing in my opinion) is the main problem that has caused this issue. I had used the slider less than 10 times before this happened. I contacted insurance to open a claim and they said it would fall under mechanical malfunction and that was not covered in my coverage.

59 Body problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/06/2017

This vehicle was purchased new and has less than 140,000 miles. #1-it has corrosion on the outer body panels that is starting to go into the frame. The corrosion has caused numerous cuts, scrapes and damaged clothing as you get in and out of the vehicle. #2- I started smelling antifreeze but you couldn't see any leaks unless it was parked downhill so I took it to the shop for diagnosis. After several test they found it to be the head gasket. #3- I also have issues with the drivers side seat belt staying latched. You can be driving along and it will just release and it takes awhile to get it to latch back. #4-it wouldn't let me select the option to talk about the window regulators that just all of a sudden decide to work by themselves. I've had several people discuss these issues with me and I'd not seen any issues until lately, regardless of how significant anyone thinks these issues are I've worked in the auto industry long enough to know that the maker should stand behind their product regardless of the significance or age of vehicle.

64 Body problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 04/07/2017

We all own cars. My car has this problem where the power windows suddenly stop working. In other words, I can lower my window and have it suddenly decide to not come back up, leaving me with a vehicle subject to all kinds of theft. This problem has happened thirteen times now on my 2006 Jeep Liberty and Chrysler expects me to pay $475 for each repair. I want chrylser to provide this service for me free of charge, only because they did the first twelve times. Without this support, I am in a position where I cannot keep my car and cannot afford a new one. Do you know what it feels like to lower your car window and have it suddenly not come back up? especially in the cold of winter? the customer service center gave me every excuse they could find to not help me out. And they also told me I was being pretentious. How would you feel if this was how a car manufacturer treated you? I come from a family of Jeep owners and Chrysler (the mother company) would rather lose my business and permit me to talk negatively about them then stop to help me. They even encouraged me to hit the net and start submitting reviews. This is sort of callous negligence is not what any kind of consumer should endure. At this point, what reason do I have to perform the service? what reason do I have to keep my car? what reason do I have to ever shop with their brand again?.

65 Body problem of the 2008 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/30/2017

The skyslider feature on the 2008-2012 Jeep Libertys are a monumental safety hazard. I purchased my 2008 Jeep Liberty on March 15th 2017. Within 2 weeks after buying the skysliders pins broke and the skyslider flew back covering my back window. If I had not pulled over the slider could have completely detached and caused a major multi-vehicle collision. I discovered that the pins wear easily broken because they are made of plastic. I am appalled that there has never been a recall and the manufacturer refuses to correct this, especially after reading countless forums of those who have had the same experience.

66 Body problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/25/2017

Was going down a hill. Didn't notice a stop sign. Tried to stop but couldn't in time. Took the corner and hit a tree with my passenger front corner and the Jeep flipped on its side. Smashed my face on the steering wheel shattering my jaw due to airbags not going off and seatbelts not locking. Needed immediate surgery. They had to smash the front window to get me out of the vehicle.

70 Body problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/15/2017

Two concerns - the first being safety related. There is metal grinding noise when braking. All speeds - slow or fast, and in all "drives", two wheel or four wheel drive. No mechanics I have visited have been able to diagnose it. There are hundreds of other Jeep Liberty owners experiencing the same problem. I have spoken in person with several and read hundreds of complaints online of the same thing. Secondly, three of my windows have now failed to operate. Also a widespread Jeep Liberty issue with a piece in the lifting mechanism. The motors are operating just fine, but there is a piece inside the door that breaks and the windows fail to open or close thereafter. Sometimes, a lifting mechanism spring-looking piece grinds upwards into the cabin of the vehicle when the "broken" window mechanisms are accidentally activated. Also concerned these spring mechanisms could snap in the cabin and cause extreme harm.
