Driving my vehicle today and started shaking in front passenger side. I pulled over thinking a flat tire. Nothing and continued. I then began smelling burning and more shaking and smoke. I pulled over again at this point . My front brakes locked up. One month ago I had similar situation with back brakes and had to have both calibers and roters and pads replaced. All four calibers will now have been replaced on this vehicle and roters due to calibers freezing . Vehicle was towed and undrivable.

My Jeep was great until 125,000 miles and we'll here we go. . . First I thought my brakes were going out and had the pads replaced, then they started "sticking" or so I thought, almost causing me to lose control going 65mph. The brakes still are not safe in my opinion after every part was replaced. I just had the hoses to the steering pump replaced and the problem still persists, only now my engine is idling at 1200 rpms in park? please help. . $1000 later and I'm no better off. Thanks. The vehicle is currently smoking under the hood and emits a strong smell of brake fluid. Also it struggles to get up hills with rpms at 2500 going only 55mph. I may be a woman but I know my car and I know it's very dangerous, whatever it may be.

Brakes were making a noise that subsided when brakes applied. Mechanic informed me that rear pads are worn to indicators and pads are frozen in slides. Rotors are at minimum spec. Now my front brakes have never been replaced, they are original factory installed. I have never heard of the rear brakes wearing out before the front brakes. This happened in April it is now the end of July and I still have not needed to replace the front brakes. There is definitely something wrong with the rear brakes to wear out that fast.

I purchased my Jeep 2 years ago. Over the last 6 months, I have been noticing I can hardly stop with car. I brought my Jeep to the dealer to have it looked at. My vehicle at just under 19,000 miles on it had to have all complete brakes and rotors replaced including the emergency brake pads on it and none of it covered under warranty. Rotors are only covered for one year or 12,000 miles. So they are thinking the brakes and rotors are only safe for one year on brand new vehicles. My rotors at 19,000 miles were almost falling out of my two year old vehicle, they were completely rusted out and could have caused a huge accident. This just doesn't sound right at all, however Chrysler would do nothing about it, sorry about my luck basically. Is there a basic warranty that dealer's have to follow to keep the consumer and those around the consumer safe? or is it the norm nowadays to not only pay for a brand new vehicle, but have to spend $1,200 a year in normal wear and tear?.

The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the rear passenger side wheel does not disengage from the parked position; therefore, it caused the brake pad and rotor to overheat. The dealer replaced the brake pad and rotor several times; however, they were unable to diagnose the exact cause of the failure. Each time the failure recurs, the rotor and brake pad are replaced. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle is out of warranty and informed the contact that if he is unhappy with the dealer, he should go to another dealer. The fuel system was unknown. The current mileage was 46,000 and failure mileage was 45,000.

I was in stop-and-go commute traffic traveling approximately 15 mph. Traffic started moving a little faster when the car in front of me braked hard, I pressed hard on the brake pedal and my Jeep lurched forward before braking hitting the car in front of me. The road was dry and there were no skid marks. The way the Jeep lurched forward it felt like the brake pads were worn out or the rotors were warped or the shocks were faulty. We had bought the Jeep Liberty new less than one year earlier. I was able to drive the Jeep home. That was a Friday and by Monday my stomach became so distended I could barely move. I had been in contact with kaiser advice nurses throughout the weekend and that Monday I was hospitalized. 2 weeks in the hospital resulted in the first of 3 surgeries that changed my life and my families life permanently. Surgery 1 was an illeostomy in July 2007, surgery 2 was j-pouch surgery in December 2007. Surgery 3 was abdominal reconstruction surgery in September 2013. I have permanent nerve damage in my stomach, painful scar tissues throughout my upper torso, a degenerating disc in my lower back and ongoing abdominal and hip pain. The physical and emotional toll this has had on my family is tremendous. My 2006 Jeep Liberty has been determined to be a lemon by the state of California.

All 4 wheel brakes werr bad, $600 bad. I never heard any squealing, pulsing, anything indicating the brakes were going, inspection people all said they seemed okay. I decided to bring it in to a non-dealer due to having 48000 on the oem pads. Pads were shot, rotors scored, etc. $600 later, all seemed okay anyone else not have any indicators of brakes going bad?.
-the contact stated that she owns a 2004 Jeep Liberty with failure mileage 35,000. The contact was having problems with the left rear caliper, rotor, and brake pads. She took the vehicle to the dealer, and they charged her for the repair. The failure and current mileage were both 35,000 miles. Spoke with consumer need to resend form. 10/16/07 * lj.
: the contact stated there was a constant grinding noise alerting the driver there was a problem with the rear brakes. The vehicle was inspected by a service dealer who determined the right rear caliper, both rotors and brake pads needed to be replaced in order to remedy in order to remedy the problem. The replacement remedied the problem on the right side, but the grinding noise is now present on the left side. The vehicle has been returned to the service dealer for inspection, but has not been repaired.
Having approx. 31,000 miles on my vehicle, I was already hearing what I thought was the noise maker on my brakes. I took the vehicle into pepboys to find out it was not the noise maker. The factory brakes were not wearing correctly. I still have 50% left on the front and 75% on the back. I should not have to replace my brakes at only 31,000 miles. The brake pads are uneven and should were evenly.
2004 Jeep Liberty. Rear brake disc. Took the vehicle to the firestone dealer, and showed them the disc plate. Rotors. They were only grooves on the outside of the plate, and the inside of the plate was smooth and clean. Called the manufacturer, and they said since vehicle had 16,000 miles on it they could not replace them unless the dealer said it was a defect. The manufacturer said consumer had to pay for the inspection as well as the repairs. Dealer would make a determination whether or not that it was a defect or not. There was not brake pad failure, it could have been a caliper failure. I had new rotors and new brake pads put in at the cost $350. 00 plus tax.
Brake pads went out after 23,000 miles. Brakes did not make sqeaking noise as indicator. Metal on metal sound was only indication. Damaged the rotors and was replaced. Other rotors was resurfaced. $350 to repair. Jeep will not include as warranty even though faulty parts used. This is not safe.
The transmission is leaking and the car has only 4,000 miles on it. Also, the rear wheels are making a loud squeal when driving the car for the first time of the day. Dealer said wheel noise is due to a needed rebuild of disc brakes and the manufacturer is aware of the problem. I am on a waiting list to get my brakes fixed. However, the tranny should not be leaking at only 4,000 miles.

When braking, left brake sticks and jerks vehicle to the left. Extremely dangerous at highway speeds. Almost causing several accidents. Brakes have been serviced several times. Replacing rotors, and pads at dealership. Condition lessens after being serviced but continually worsens over time.
Rear brake axle seals have failed 3 times which soaked the brake pads each time. Dealer replaced seals and pads. Now the vehicle is shaking and pulsating especially in the steering wheel when braking from 60-40 mph. Please also note that the transmission failed and was replaced at 25,000 mi.
